Badung Regency, Bali, has a complexity in tourism products that should be understood through a systemic approach. Leiper’s model of tourism system was used in this article as a tool to review the system and elements of local tourism. Leiper’s model was widely known for its simplicity, this model focuses on the elements of tourist generating region, transit region, and tourist destination region. The data used were secondary datas obtained from the Tourism Board of Badung Regency, which then grouped into tourism elements, comprising tourists, tourist generating region, transit region, tourist destination region, and tourism industry. The comparative review conducted in this research was aimed at comparing the ideal conditions to actual conditions in Badung Regency. Such review, which is decsribed descriptively, generates findings which include how Leiper’s model views spatial and geographical side only; how elements of tourism industry become important sub-elements that should be incorporated in tourist generating region (except for tourist attractions) as well as tourist destination region; and how Leiper’s tourism system is considered as being too simple and general to depict the complexity of tourism elements in Badung Regency.

Archaeological sites are currently considered as one of the most important tourism industry drivers, becoming an autonomous economy. Among the most outstanding archaeological sites in Algeria is the fort of Bani Hammad. This site is the first archaeological site classified by UNESCO in 1980, located in central Algeria in M'sila province. Given its importance, we conducted a scientific study to highlight its beautiful archaeological tourism components and national and international tourist attractions. Then, we revealed the tourism challenges and the physical and moral deterioration affecting this site. Also, we propose a preservation plan to promote this site’s touristic assets, enabling its transformation into a tourist destination competing with other archaeological sites in Algeria and the Maghreb; through a sustainable development plan of archaeological tourism, while preserving its historical identity and role. To this aim, we used a descriptive and quantitative analytical approach, starting with a theoretical and analytical analysis of various studies, plans, and documents related to this archaeological site's components. Then, we analyzed the geographical and statistical data of the tourist traffic over five years using the SPSS statistical program. Finally, we presented the results, developed a rehabilitation plan for the site, and suggested an essential set of recommendations.

The tourism industry in Zimbabwe has experienced fluctuating trends in its growth since the dawn of the new millennium. The Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry undertook a visitor exit survey in 2015/2016 period. The purpose of the study was to gather visitors’ views on Zimbabwe as a tourist destination in order to guide policy formulation on the sector. One of the objectives of the survey was to assess the visitor perceptions of Zimbabwe as a competitive tourist destination. Questionnaires were administered to departing visitors at the country’s three international airports and seven border posts during the period July 2015 until June 2016. The results of the survey indicated that 77% of visitors use road transport to enter into the country. The survey also showed that 18% of visitors to the country travelled by air. It is recommended that that the government accelerates the implementation of the open skies policy so as to attract more direct international airlines to fly into the country. It is also recommended that the government undertakes massive improvement of the road infrastructure in the country so as to encourage the geographical distribution of tourists within the country. It is finally recommended that the private sector and the national tourist organization, Zimbabwe Tourist Authority (ZTA) engage international tour operators and persuade them to develop and promote fly-drive tour packages to the country.
