This study aims to examine the effect of entrepreneurship on innovation in the non-formal English education industry geared towards achieving competitive advantage. Entrepreneurship is viewed through leadership, culture and entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurial leadership is a leadership approach that involves managerial and entrepreneurial capacity where this type of leadership is effective in running the business. So far, research on non-formal education in English through an entrepreneurial perspective and a strategic entrepreneur approach is very limited. Thus, a model proposal is constructed derived and drawn from the qualitative research that was conducted. This study will provide a review of entrepreneurship and innovation in non-formal education businesses in English.

 This study further examines the influence of entrepreneurship in the innovation of the non-formal English language education industry (English course) that is oriented towards the achievement of competitive advantage. Entrepreneurship is characterized by entrepreneurial leadership, entrepreneurial culture, and an entrepreneurial mindset. This research approach is undertaken with strategic entrepreneurship. The method used is a quantitative method that begins with an explorative study of the English course industry in DKI Jakarta. The results of the discussion of institutional course data using a franchise system in which entrepreneurial mindset has no significant effect on entrepreneurial leadership and innovation strategy, as well as entrepreneurial culture, has no significant impact on innovation strategy. On the other side, institutional course data using a non-franchise system found that entrepreneurial leadership has no significant effect and is inversely proportional to innovation strategy. This research provides a new repertoire of entrepreneurial fusion and its impact on organizational innovation so that competitive advantage can be achieved. The entrepreneurial typology and innovation of the research results are given in managerial implications as the contribution of this study.

Abstract Zainuddin Labay al-Yunusiyyah was one of the Islah Minangkabau scholar that play a huge role in the Islah Islamic thought and Islamic education reformation. Even though his education background is informal and was only received in the Minangkabau region, he can be regarded as an exemplary scholar that is very progressive and can be regarded highly with other Islah scholars. His biggest contribution that gives a huge impact towards the Muslim Minangkabau community is the Islamic education reformation with modern orientation. This model of modern Islamic education Institution that was introduced by Zainuddin Labay al-Yunusiyah became a prime example to the establishment of other Islamic education institution. Thus, this research will study the Islah movement in Minagkabau and the biography of Zainuddin Labay al-Yunusiyyah. In addition, the objective of this research is to analyse his role regarding the thought purification and Islamic education reformation in Indonesia.This research is a qualitative research that utilizes the content analysis as the research design with the use of historical research method.The finding of this research shows that Zainuddin Labay al-Yunusiyyah was one of the Islah scholars from the 20th century. Even though he did not receive a formal education and only receive his education in Minangkabau, he emerge as one of the reformation figure of Islah that have a huge impact to the Islah movement in Minangkabau especially the Islamic education reformation and also the Islah of Islamic thought in Minangkabau. The Islamic education reformation that has been done by Zainuddin Labay al-Yunusiyyah become the foundation and model of the Islamic education reformation in whole of Minangkabau and Indonesia. Walaupun beliau mempunyai latar belakang pendidikan yang tidak teratur dan hanya belajar dalam wilayah Minangkabau, namun beliau merupakan seorang tokoh ulama yang begitu progresif dan mampu menyamai tokoh-tokoh islah terkemuka yang lain. Sumbangan terbesar beliau yang memberi impak besar kepada umat Islam Minangkabau ialah pembaharuan pendidikan Islam berorientasikan moden. Model institusi pendidikan Islam moden yang diperkenalkan oleh Zainuddin Labay al-Yunusiyyah menjadi contoh kepada penubuhan institusi pendidikan Islam yang lain. Justeru, kajian ini meneliti gerakan islah di Minangkabau dan biografi Zainuddin Labay al-Yunusiyyah. Selain itu, objektif kajian ini juga menganalisis peranan beliau terhadap pemurnian pemikiran dan pembaharuan pendidikan Islam di Indonesia. Kajian ini merupakan kajian yang berbentuk kualitatif menggunakan analisis kandungan sebagai reka bentuk kajian dengan menggunakan metode kajian sejarah. Hasil kajian mendapati Zainuddin Labay al-Yunusiyyah merupakan seorang daripada ulama islah abad ke-20. Walaupun beliau tidak mendapat pendidikan yang sistematik dan hanya belajar di Minangkabau sahaja, beliau mampu muncul sebagai tokoh pembaharu dan islah yang memberi impak besar kepada gerakan islah di Minangkabau terutamanya reformasi pendidikan Islam dan juga islah pemikiran Islam di Minangkabau. Pembaharuan pendidikan Islam yang dilakukan oleh Zainuddin Labay al-Yunusiyyah menjadi asas dan model kepada pembaharuan pendidikan Islam di seluruh Minangkabau dan juga Indonesia. This research was conducted to describe the entrepreneurial leadership of SMEs Tofu "RDS" and description about the obstacles experienced by SMEs Tofu "RDS". This research uses descriptive qualitative research design that aims to obtain the information available at this time, and then attempt to describe, record and interpret the information. Data collection methods used were interviews, observation and documentation. This type of qualitative research is case study. The result of the research is the condition of entrepreneurial leadership from the leadership of SMEs Tofu "RDS" is generally good because he is able to motivate employees well, have a picture of the future effort, able to read opportunities well, actively seeking new ideas, persistent in running their business And barriers faced by SMEs Tofu "RDS" can be overcome well by the leadership of SMEs Tofu RDS.

  The aim of this study is to highlight the role that management by exception plays in achieving pioneering leadership and the survival and growth of institutions and trying to increase their effectiveness and performance in light of the great challenges they face. The importance of management is characterized by adding value to the institution, creating a competitive advantage, making the institution more flexible, and adopting the forms of coordination, designing and structuring. The problem of the study is represented in this question: is the application of the concept of management by exception leads to entrepreneurial leadership in business organizations? The study   showed that the entrepreneurial leadership has the ability to influence workers and the performance of institutions. Based on the principles and the basis of modern leadership and management, it is possible for organizations to achieve proactive entrepreneurship among other organizations. by applying entrepreneurial leadership and sorting out the appropriate decisions

This study is entitled Cohesion and Coherence in English Education Students’ Thesis. The aim of this study is to describe the cohesion and coherence as wholeness aspect of discourse in English Education students’ thesis. This study is a qualitative research. The data sources in this study are the thesis of three students that were obtained by purposive sampling. Furthermore, analysis of the data was done by identifying and classifying the data that related to cohesion, based on the theory of Halliday and Hasan (1976), and related to coherence, based on the theory of Oshima and Hogue (1991). From analysis, it was found four things related to cohesion and coherence. First, the use of grammatical cohesion devices in thesis, which consists of reference, substitution, ellipsis, and conjunction; and the use of lexical cohesion devices, which consists of reiteration and collocation, was used in thesis. Second, the violence of cohesion device was found in grammatical devices, such as reference and conjunctions. Third, the use of coherence devices, which consists of key nouns repetition, use of pronouns, transition signal, and logical order of chronology was found in students’ thesis. Fourth, the cause of the error coherence of thesis consists of keyword repetition errors, inconsistent pronouns, inappropriate transition signal, grammatical errors, and inappropriate punctuation.

This present study tries to investigate the students’ writing performance to know whether interlanguage fossilization is occurs or not. The primary goal of this research is to give information relating interlanguage fossilization in students’ writing performance of English Education Study Program of IAIN Jurai Siwo Metro. This research is qualitative research. It is used to describe interlanguage fossilization that occurred in students’ writing performance. The writer uses observation, documentation and interview to collect the data. Purposive sampling is the technique for choosing the ten students of the sixth and the eight semester of English Education Study Program of IAIN Jurai Siwo Metro in the Academic Year of 2017/2018. The result of this research shows that there are two types of interlanguage fossilization that are commonly produced by students’ writing performance. They are syntactical fossilization and morphological fossilization. Syntactical fossilization consists of 71, 86% and morphological fossilization consists of 28, 14%.  Moreover, interlanguage fossilization phenomenon in students’ writing performance is caused by the students’ low English proficiency. Therefore, the students should be more active to improve their English ability.

ABSTRACTThis study aims at displaying the results of reviewing research-based articles about gamification in the context of learning English. The concept of games has changed from a self-entertainment into an edutainment through adjustments and modifications. This notion is adapted by teachers in big countries such as Poland, China, and the US to enhance their English class with surprisingly ensuing positive results (Rothwell & Shaffer, 2019). These results have triggered the writer to find out more about the benefits of gamification and to conduct qualitative research through the review process. The writer collected and analyzed thirteen relevant articles from journals and websites. The results indicated that gamification indeed brought benefits to students. The foremost results included motivation improvement, promoting positive attitudes and better performances, fostering 21st-century skills and better cognitive achievements, encouraging social interaction and independencies, and improving competitiveness among students during the learning process.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan hasil dari telaah artikel berbasis riset tentang gamifikasi pada konteks pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Konsep permainan telah berubah dari hiburan mandiri menjadi edutainment melalui penyesuaian dan modifikasi. Konsep ini, terutama permainan online, diadaptasi oleh para guru di negara-negara besar seperti Polandia, China, dan US untuk meningkatkan aktifitas kelas Bahasa Inggris mereka dengan yang hasil positif yang mengejutkan (Rothwell & Shaffer, 2019). Hasil ini menjadi motivasi penulis untuk menggali lebih dalam tentang manfaat gamifikasi dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris sehingga penulis melakukan penelitian kualitatif melalui proses review. Penulis telah mengumpulkan dan menganalisa tiga belas artikel yang relevan dari jurnal dan situs web. Hasil analisa menunjukkan bahwa gamifikasi memang bermanfaat bagi siswa. Manfaat yang paling utama yaitu meningkatkan motivasi dan penampilan yang baik, mengembangkan keterampilan Abad 21, mendorong interaksi social dan kebebasan, serta meningkatkan daya saing antar siswa selama pembelajaran. Non-formal education is practical education or training for the community that is still carried out by the community to increase knowledge and increase interest in talent in themselves. The purpose of this study is to find out about Muhammadiyah non-formal education, the goals and benefits of non-formal education, the characteristics of Muhammadiyah non-formal education and forms of non-formal education of Muhammadiyah. The data collection techniques were interviews and observations, interviews with resource persons Mrs. Sumjiana (managers) and observations and research at the Muhammadiyah branch of the Muhammadiyah College in Gedangan District. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods. A qualitative approach is a research process to understand social or human problems by analyzing words to create a complex and comprehensive picture, as well as reporting detailed information views obtained from information sources in the natural environment. Muhammadiyah non-formal education during the COVID-19 pandemic took various forms. Muhammadiyah non-formal education such as TK Aisyah 1 Gedangan and TPQ Tunas Jasmine in Gedangan District.

The acquisition and learning of English as a Foreign Language differs from that of English as a Second Language. In the EFL setting, it is not sufficient if the teaching and learning processes only depend on formal institution. Because of that, the non-formal education plays an important role to support the processes. This research aims at exploring (1) how Kampung Inggris Kebumen – as one of non-formal educations in Indonesia – was built; (2) what the teaching method used to make the learners in Kampung Inggris Kebumen speak English without any reluctance; and (3) how the learners in Kampung Inggris Kebumen acquire and learn English. This research applies qualitative method i.e. a descriptive case study by means of observation and interviews. The result shows that (1) as one of non-formal institution, Kampung Inggris Kebumen plays a significant important role in the success of English teaching and learning in  Kebumen Regency, in terms of their collaboration with MGMP Sekolah; (2)  Kampung Inggris Kebumen applies the combination of direct method and audio lingual method which are confirmed supportive in the process of acquiring and learning English as a Foreign Language; (3) The students feel that they can decrease their affective filter since the instructors of Kampung Inggris Kebumen use many fun learning activities, provide rich exposures, and intensive time to apply the English in students’ real life. Keywords : acquisition, learning, EFL, non-formal education

An organization achieves competitive advantage if it delivers above average profits in its industry. Strategic management has many definitions. In this context, the authors define global strategic management as a bundle of decisions and acts based on resources and capabilities that a manager undertakes that decide the long-term competitive position of the firm. The past and current economic conditions are evidence that global strategy will never be perfect but an ongoing effort to achieve optimal results for all stakeholders. Hence, the task for the global leaders has become increasingly challenging and hypercompetitive.
