Background: Aging is a natural part of human life. However, recent discoveries indicate that pharmacological approaches used for the improvement and possibly, for the delay of the aging process, might shed a new light on this topic. This might obviously contribute to the extension of the active life of older people and maintenance of their quality of life, which could consequently reduce both social and economic burden of each country, especially the developed ones. Objective: The purpose of this study is to explore pharmacological discoveries which may help to the delay or improvement of the aging process. More specifically, the authors focus on three anti-aging drugs candidates: metformin, rapamycin and resveratrol and one anti-aging component NAD+ precursors whose randomized control trials on animals have appeared to provide some efficacy in this respect and they seem to be promising in the aging process of human beings. Methods: This was done by conducting a literature review of available sources describing the issue of aging process with special focus on those anti-aging drug candidates. Results: The results of this study indicate that promising anti-aging candidates seem to be metformin, especially as far as cardiovascular or cancer mortality is concerned, and NAD+ precursors since they appear to promote better organ function, increased physical resistance, disease resistance and prolonged life expectancy. Conclusion: There is a call for more longitudinal clinical trials, which would prove the efficacy of the promising anti-aging drugs candidates in humans.

This essay offers a reading of “A Most Useful Discussion Concerning Proposals for War against the Turks.” What we have in the “Useful Discussion” is a mock consultation, a literary creation in which Erasmus appears to offer judicious advice on how Christendom might wage a successful war against the Turks, only to undercut the very prospects for such a war by means of various strategies of indirection, hesitation, and ironic reversal. Erasmus works critically and ironically on several levels at once—unsettling the dogmatism of war-mongers, surprising Luther and his critics, frustrating the interests of the powerful, and nudging everyone to think seriously about fundamental questions of human life. Though the “Useful Discussion” may appear to address a specific question about a specific war, it in fact speaks—in its pendular and ironic manner—to more basic questions, inviting readers to reflect with amazement and remorse upon the numbness and deafness of human beings before God; and, on that basis, to work to enhance the moral quality of life.

From the conception that work is a fundamental activity for the development of human beings, we consider that the act of working transforms itself into and through work, relating directly to social identity. On the other hand, it is also observed that the centrality it occupies in the daily routine of human life, especially in the category, imposes a conflicting relationship, because despite being loaded with different investments, work conditions and demands are also causes of illness. physical and mental. In this work activity, interpersonal relationships are directly articulated, involving constant emotional experiences. It is a professional field where the subjectivity of affections emerges in daily life, in daily relationships, involving in most situations children and young people in development. As a thesis, it is argued that these movements, which have a direct reflection on the organization of work processes, have serious consequences on teachers' health, in their physical or mental aspects. As a starting point, we consider the results of a study that analyzed aspects related to the health of basic education teachers from seven Brazilian states, among others, articulating a discussion with a qualitative analysis of internship diaries in School Psychology. Our considerations broaden the questions that are imposed on the teacher in contemporary times that cause them to wear and consequent psychic suffering. Keywords: Teaching work. Worker's health. Quality of life.

To the Editor.— Singer, in his article "Sanctity of Life or Quality of Life?" (Pediatrics 1983;72:128-129) has rejected the "sanctity-of-life view"—as he defines it. He calls it "the obsolete and erroneous notion of the sanctity of all human life." He states that "the philosophical foundations of this view have been knocked asunder." He adds "We can no longer base our ethics on the idea that human beings are a special form of creation made in the image of God."

Nowadays, when the world economies are not yet completely released from the destructive effects of the last global financial crisis and still are feeling intensely the shocks caused by daily economic events, the dilemma arises whether humanity as a whole has a satisfactory quality of life, or whether it lives within dignified human existence. This dilemma is particularly present in small emerging economies, with a special focus on transitional economies, which are still at the beginning of a bumpy road to economic development and prosperity. In recent years, the issue of quality of life has become quite an interesting topic and has been the subject of research in the fields of economics, psychology, clinical medicine, health care, philosophy and sociological sciences. Understanding and evaluating this concept has gone through a long period of evolution. Over the years, the term of quality of life, standard of living, and welfare have been perceived as identical terms, even today their connection is so strong that it is almost impossible to talk about one term without mentioning the others. The question of the quality of human life is an inexhaustible source, so, that is, the inspiration of numerous scientists from all fields of science, with a particular emphasis on economists. To perceive or measure the quality of human life is a complex problem that can never be completely exhausted or clarified with certainty. This is due to the fact that the term "quality of life" itself has a multidimensional character and it is extremely difficult to find all the indicators that would explain this concept and determine its true value. Therefore, the goal of this paper is to analyze certain economic indicators that will enable us to make an adequate assessment, or measure the quality of life. The main emphasis of the paper is on the evaluation of relevant indicators of quality of life in North Macedonia and based on comparative analysis has been concluded that our country is positioned on the lower margins of dignified and quality life. Because of this situation, certain measures have been taken, in order to identify the most important strategic priorities of our country. The realization of these strategic priorities and the appropriate allocation of budget funds will ensure higher growth rates of the Macedonian economy in the coming period, with simultaneous improving of the quality of life and living standard of the population.

The environment and the economy are basic and inseparable elements. The environment is the locus and support for the activities of human life. These activities are related to the creation and supply of resources necessary for the economy. They generate large amounts of waste, while the load capacity of the environment is limited. When economic operations go beyond certain limits, then the environment cannot sustain them. This could lead to economic crisis on a global scale. The problem is how to protect the environment, maintain economic operations and improve the lives of human beings, or in other words, find the ways to harmonise environmental factors with the needs of the economy. Vietnam and other developing nations are facing serious problems of environmental degradation, especially in urban areas. Many solutions have been tried, of which the use of economic instruments has received much attention on the part of the government and leaders of Vietnam.
