The study aimed at assessing the adequacy of innovative and entrepreneurial competency of Technical /Engineering students of Plateau State Polytechnic for self-reliance. It was primarily sought to determine whether they were opinions of final year Technical and engineering students.  A descriptive survey design was adopted where 120 respondents were randomly selected from the School of Technical Education and Engineering. 45 items structured questionnaire was used for the collection of data related to innovation and entrepreneurship competency in order to be self-reliant. The instrument was validated by three experts; two from Plateau State Polytechnic and one from the private sector. Data were analyzed using the descriptive statistic to determine the mean and the standard deviation of respondents. The findings of the study revealed that final year students need innovative and entrepreneurial competencies for self-reliant after graduation. The study also showed that the training provided is not sufficient for the prospective graduates to be able to face the challenges in the myths of job scarcity. Recommendations based on the findings of the study was highlighted which includes the need for a complete overhauling of Technology Education curriculum to reflect the current realities.capable of setting up small-scale business after graduation. The thrust of this study is to examine the effects of e-learning on the transformative education of Cooperative Members. The descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. Multistage random sampling technique was used to select 300 respondents consisting of 75 Cooperative Leaders and 225 members. A well-structured questionnaire was validated and used to collect relevant data which was analysed using descriptive statistics (the mean and standard deviation). Findings indicate that very few e-learning facilities are available in cooperatives even at secondary and apex levels in the area studied; hence the adoption of e-learning is poor. However, the study revealed that the few e-learning facilities adopted have good effect on the transformative education of the cooperative members. The study also found out that the adoption of e-learning has lots of challenges, including high cost of imported equipment and e-learning facilities; insufficient E-learning infrastructure, inadequate time to develop and implement ICT-using activities, lack of digital learning resources, among others. The study, therefore recommends that specialty training should be given to cooperative leaders to make them keep abreast of the trends in e-learning and they should source for more funds for the improvement of e-learning infrastructure.

Background: Child abuse is a kind of domestic violence that involves all forms of physical, emotional and sexual maltreatment and negligence of children under the age of 18 years which potentially or actually damages all aspects of their health. Child abuse is a global problem with serious lifelong consequences. In India the child abuse has not received enough attention. There have been few and irregular efforts to understand and address the problem. Aim was to assess the level of knowledge regarding prevention of child abuse among parents.Methods: Descriptive Survey design was used. The study population comprised of parents of children less than 18 years of age. A sample of 60 parents were selected by non-probability purposive sampling technique. A self-structured questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge regarding child abuse among parents. Informed consent was taken from each participant prior to data collection and descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data.Results: Majority of parents 60% had poor or fair level of knowledge, 39% had good knowledge whereas only 1.6% had excellent knowledge. There was a significant association between knowledge and age of mother at 0.02 level of significance.Conclusions: The finding of the study concluded that the knowledge regarding child abuse among parents was inadequate.  Considering this aspects further awareness drives can be conducted to make the people alert about child abuse and its prevention.

Given that managing schools to attain expected goals is becoming challenging in the present competitive society, it becomes paramount that collaborations, especially with a highly innovative group of people are encouraged. In the light of this, the purpose of this study is to investigate the extent of School-Based Management Committees' (SBMCs) involvement in public secondary school administration in Abuja. A descriptive survey design was used for the study, and 3 research questions were answered in relation to the 3 research objectives of the study. The population of the study was 460 respondents, and a sample size of 250 respondents was drawn through proportionate random and convenience sampling techniques. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection. Arithmetic mean was employed in analyzing the research questions. The result revealed among others, that the school-based management committees play a passive role in planning in public secondary schools in Abuja. It was concluded that for schools to effectively meet the academic need of the Abuja community, their collaborations with the SBMCs have to be very active and productive. To this end, SBMCs need to become more committed to collaborating and helping the schools in terms of planning, staffing and monitoring.

OBJECTIVE: This study investigated health and nutrition issues affecting academic involvement of Adult learners in literacy programme in Kogi State, Nigeria. The specific purpose of the study was: to ascertain the extent health and nutrition affect academic involvement of adult learners in literacy programmes in Kogi State Nigeria. MATERIALS & METHOD: The design for the study was a descriptive survey design. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data which wereanalysed using mean scores and standard deviation while t-test statistic was used to test the hypothesis that guided the study. RESULTS: Results of the analysis showed among others health and nutrition issues such as chronic illness, poor nutrition and hunger affect academic involvement of adult learners. The results also showed that unhealthy adult learners do not feel happy in class during lessons or learning activities. CONCLUSION: Based on the finding, it was concluded that health and nutrition have some level of relationship with adult learners’ academic involvement to a high extent.

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of covid-19 pandemic school close down on the research programme of higher institutions in Abuja, Nigeria. Descriptive survey design was used for the study and 4 research questions was developed for the study. Random sampling method was used to select 120 researchers in the four sampled institutions. The instrument used for collection of data was a structured questionnaire. Result collected revealed that 100% of the respondents agreed that Covid-19 pandemic school closure have impact on research program of higher institutions in FCT, 100% of the respondents agreed that Covid-19 pandemic will affects the flow of international research grants into higher institutions in FCT, 92% of the respondents agreed that Covid-19 pandemic will affects government funding of research higher institutions in FCT and 100% agreed that higher institutions as part of their community services by creating awereness to the general public on prevention of covid-19.The study also showed that 100% of the respondents agreed that higher institutions in Federal Capital Territory are collaborating with other institutions on the research for covid-19 vaccine while 69.17% of the respondents agreed that higher institutions in FCT are producing face masks for free distributions for the people to protect them from containing the covid-19 in Abuja. Based on this finding, this paper thereby recommends that government should increase the funding of research programme in Abuja and other higher institutions in the country.

The International Labour Organization and all organizations of human rights advocate against any form of negative attitude in employment based on gender, its terms, promotion and relations. Shop floor employees play a very important role in the daily advancement and profitability of an organisation. The purpose of this study was to establish the attitude of shop floor employees toward women managers in fuel depots in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The study adopted a descriptive survey design with the population consisting of one hundred and ninety three (193) shop floor employees. A semi structured questionnaire was used to collect primary data. In total one hundred and twenty one (121) shop floor employees responded yielding a response rate of sixty three percent (63%). The findings of this study indicate that a negative attitude toward woman managers is prevalent in the Fuel Depots of Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo. At the fuel depots, the number of women working was less than a third of the males. In spite of this, women managers are rated higher in management qualities and are considered to be more honest, diligent, compassionate, creative and intelligent when compared to their male counterparts. The study recommends a culture change among employees in fuel depots in Lubumbashi in order to enable them perceive women as equal partners at the work place. This study intends to examine defiant behaviours among schoolers at the three levels of education in Gombe metropolis, which has reached a critical point. To guide the study, the research takes a descriptive survey design. Three research questions focusing on the defiant behaviours among schoolers were formulated. Eight institutions were randomly selected and a total number of 146 respondents were also randomly sampled for the study. A structured questionnaire with 12-items was designed. Results revealed that these defiant behaviours has caused high rate of dropouts among schoolers and so affected their contribution in the task of the nation building. It is the position of the paper that idealism, which emphasizes self-awareness and self-knowledge, can be used to tackle the problem of defiant behaviours among schoolers.


This study was aimed to assess prospects and challenges of micro and small scale enterprises in Adama city. A descriptive survey design was employed. A survey questionnaire which included both the close ended and the open ended questions, observation and document review were used as data collection tools of the study. The study used stratified random sampling technique to select the sample and accordingly about 116 MSE respondents were selected from a list of registered micro and small scale enterprises which obtained from Adama city micro and small scale development office. The result of the study showed that limited finance, lack of awareness about policies related to MSE, lack of business development services and internal management related problems are the major challenges of MSE in Adama city. This finding implicate for the need of further research by taking large sample from various micro and small scale enterprises.

Background: Hypertension in diabetes is an added burden and the comorbidity a faster genesis of many cardiovascular diseases that exposes the diabetics to several complications, disabilities and higher mortality rate than the non-diabetics. This study therefore asses the knowledge and control practice of hypertension among the hypertensive diabetics attending the endocrine clinic of LAUTECH Teaching hospital Osogho, Osun state.Methods: A quantitative descriptive survey design was adopted and a total enumeration method was used in recruiting 102 hypertensive diabetics. A structured questionnaire was administered and used to collect data. Descriptive statistics was used to answer the research questions.Results: The overall knowledge level of hypertension among the hypertensive diabetics was above average with overall mean score of 54.01 (65.9%). The control practice level was fair with overall mean score of 45.1%.Conclusions: Efforts to increase the knowledge and control practices of hypertension should not focus only on general health education, but individual specific knowledge needs. practical sections that show case the lifestyle practices that will explain what hypertension self-care maintenance, monitoring and management practices such as exercise sections, diet sections actually means should be incorporated in the clinic routine.

In this rapidly changing world, the quest for self-reliance has always been the desire of many nations especially in the present face of global economic challenge. This study centres on using blogging platforms for acquiring Entreprneurial skills for Self-reliance among Educational Technology Students in University of Calabar. The study utilized the descriptive survey design. Three research questions were raised and three research hypotheses were stated to guide the study. The population comprised all the 39 final year educational technology students from university of calabar. Thirty-nine final year Educational Technology students were purposively adopted as sample size for the study. Linear regression was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The model summary table was used to answer research questions. The instrument for data collection was the utilization of blogging platforms for acquiring entrepreneurial skills for self-reliance questionnaire (UBPFESRQ). The instrument was face validated with a reliability coefficient of .80 using Chronbach Alpha Statistics.  It was found that the Use of blogger, wordpress and steemit had no significant relationship with acquisition of entrepreneurial skills for self-reliance among educational technology students in University of Calabar. Some recommendations were made to include that emphasis should be laid on entrepreneurial skills and educational technology tools such as design, production and modernization of indigenous resources among students through practices and innovations for achieving self-reliant generation.
