The aim of this study was to develop appropriate autonomous learning materials of structure and written expression of TOEFL preparation for autonomous learners for the Centre for Language and Development of Yogyakarta State University based on the learning needs and target needs of the autonomous learners. The research was an educational research and development (R&D) adapting ADDIE model (Branch, 2009). Two instruments (questionnaire and test) for needs analysis and two instruments for validation were used. The data from the needs analysis and the material validation were analyzed quantitatively through descriptive statistics. The research findings revealed that the autonomous learning materials were appropriate in terms of input, learning activities, layout, design and organization. The learners’ role is to learn the materials individually and teacher's role is to be a guide and cooperator. All of the learning activities include reading of explanations of forms and functions, doing practices for forms and functions, multiple choice, and doing reflection. Every unit has the following organizing unit title, instructions for learners, grammatical form and functions, activities of forms, functions, and TOEFL tests items, online activities for further learning, learning essentials, reflection, self-test (TOEFL) and answer keys.

The writing of this article is motivated by the author's direct experience as the leader of the community service team at Padang State University, in various locations and places of service, including in the Sungai Buluh Timur community. The problems that have arisen so far are the low motivation of the community to participate in learning, especially regarding learning materials related to theory. This is seen from the arrival of those who are often late, lacking focus in learning, wanting to go home quickly. The author suspects, this happens because the community still does not feel that learning is carried out as a necessity. The purpose of this paper is in order to describe the nature of the needs and learning needs of adults, how adults learn, and also stated things that need to be done so that learning in society can be realized as a need. It is hoped that this paper can be used as input for practitioners engaged in community development, have awareness and insight in conducting learning activities so that the community is able to see their learning needs and at the same time be able to help the community to get out of the life problems they face. Keywords: Learning Motivations, Learning Needs

The objectives of this study were: 1) to produce a Microbiology handout based on the results of the study of Antagonistic Fungi Antagonism against Pathogenic Fungi in Strawberry Plants; and 2) testing the feasibility and practicality of the handout. This type of research is development research. The development model used in this research is the ADDIE model which consists of 5 stages, namely: Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. The handout material was selected based on the results of the needs analysis by the respondent students of the Biology Study Program, FMIPA, State University of Malang. Handout eligibility data obtained from the results of validation by microbiology material experts and learning media experts. Meanwhile, the handout practicality data was obtained from the readability assessment results of Biology Study Program students who were currently taking the Microbiology course. The results showed that, the percentage of eligibility of handout material by the expert validator of microbiology material was 99.53% with very high or very valid eligibility criteria. The percentage of eligibility of handouts by instructional media expert validators is 98.14% with very high or very valid eligibility criteria. The percentage of practicality tests by students who were taking the Microbiology course resulted in 89.89% with very high practicality criteria. The results showed that research results-based Microbiology handouts were very feasible and practical to be used in microbiology learning activities.

However, in this study, the development process is focused on 3 steps, namely investigation, design, and development realization. Data collection techniques in this needs analysis are questionnaires, literature reviews, and interviews. The data to be analyzed in this study is qualitative data from interviews, observations, and documents. The data were obtained through a questionnaire distributed to 20 alumni of the German Language Study Program who live in Germany. The aims of this study were: (1) to discover the target needs of higher education students, (2) to discover the learning needs of higher education students, and (3) to build-up a suitable digital story of Banten Folktales for higher education students. This was a Research and Development (R&D) study. The research procedure, adjusted from ADDIE model proposed by Taylor (2004), comprised of conducting the needs analysis, designing a course grid and a storyboard, developing the first draft of the digital story, evaluating the first draft, and producing the final draft. The instruments to collect the data were needs analysis questionnaire and correspondent survey questionnaires. The information from the needs analysis was analyzed quantitatively using frequency and rate, and after that the comes about were utilized as the premise to create the course grid and storyboard. The quantitative data from the correspondent survey was analyzed through descriptive statistics while the comments and suggestions were used to revise the first draft to be the final product of the digital story. The developed product was valid and appropriate after being evaluated in correspondent review phase in terms of its content and design with  the average score 4.69 categorized as very highly valid.

The aim of this research was to develop English learning materials based on task-based learning in the form of handout for nursing study program students. There are 33 students used as sample and there are 4 experts to judge the development process of developed handout. Instruments of this research are questionnaires, interview, and validation checklist. Research method was Research and Development (R&D). ADDIE model used to develop the handout. The result of needs analysis indicated the students needed to learn English language use in the nursing context. Needs Analysis in the context of language-learning-teaching is an important process to design a certain course and syllabus. It helps course designers to set objectives, choose content, method of instruction, appropriate teaching aids, and classroom activities for different courses. This paper reports the perceptions of the researchers on the English language learning needs of the English undergraduate students of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Sheringal, Pakistan. The data is based on the researchers’ personal experience and first-hand observation of the population as the researchers have been teaching in the target context for about a decade. Furthermore, the researchers have always been in discussion with their students and colleagues about the target students’ English learning needs, preferred learning styles, motivation in learning English, interest, strengths/weaknesses, and attitude toward English learning in the target setting. Learners’ assignments, exam answer sheets, and presentations have also been used is a source of data collection. A needs analysis model proposed by Hutchinson and Waters (1987) has been applied in order to analyze the data. The results show that the students lack well grammatical sentences, have poor spellings, capitalization problems, limited vocabulary, unaware of collocations, poor/slow reading comprehension, and lack of effective presentation skills. Furthermore, most of the students have a lack of involvement in classroom activities and feel shy about speaking the English language. It was reported that the provision of authentic material, interesting activities, suitable audio-visual aids, relevant texts, language labs, and other logistic arrangements can better help them in learning the English language. The findings demonstrate that the students wished to have a learner-centered-course that helps them excel in their academic life and learning the English language.
