This study aimed at developing content and language integrated English speaking learning materials for the students of international accounting study program to help them learn, practise and improve their speaking skills first in content subjects classes and then in their future career. The study  involved 27 third year students of Accounting Department,  Faculty of Economics, Yogyakarta State University. The data were collected through an interview, classroom observation, and a students’ questionnaire. The research findings show that, the students prefer: business, accounting basics, accounting concepts, and financial accounting accounting contents topics. In terms of classroom activities, students preferred making presentations, discussion, dialogues, role-plays, and making descriptions. The students have difficulties in discussions/debates, pronunciation, grammatical structures, and knowledge of specific vocabulary items. Their priorities for speaking English include presentations, discussions, questions and answers, descriptions, and using specific vocabulary items. Their preferences on the components of the English speaking learning materials include conversations/dialogues, grammatical features, specific vocabulary items, presentations, and discussions/debates. The evaluation of the developed materials falls in the Very Good category for both experts and students’ evaluation.

This study aimed to obtain data about the influence on the ability listen to audio media students of German Language Study Program, Foreign Language Education Department  Faculty of Languages and Literature, Makassar State University. The type of this research is a quantitative research using quasi-experimental. The research design used in this study is a pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study is a student of German language Study Program, Foreign Language Education Department  Faculty of Languages and Literature, Makassar State University 2016/2017, with the number of 46 people. The sample in this study is the total sample. Analysis of the data is an inferential statistical analysis using t-test. The calculation result is t test (8.61) > t table (2.015)  with   alpha level (0.05). That means, there is an effect using audio media on listening skills  of students.

The objective of this study was to develop English speaking materials based on students’ needs. This study followed the steps of research and development proposed by Borg and Gall, which are 1) need analysis; 2) planning(writing syllabus); 3) designing materials; 4) material evaluation; 5) revising (writing final product). It was found that 82.85% students agreed that the existing materials currently used by the students were irrelevant with office administration program. The more relevant materials were then developed based on scientific approach and relevant with their study program and work life situation. The learning materials were developed into 3 units of speaking materials. The learning materials were then validated by two experts. The average score of the validation was 85. It showed that the developed learning materials were very good, relevant and feasible.

The study investigates students’ recognition, students’ preferences, and students’ reasons for learning platforms, tools, and activities in the Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT) context. The intrinsic case study is used in the present study, which fully expected the quality of improvement and case evaluation can be carried out. The purposive sampling was used with 25 students of third-year class at a private university in West Java at English language education study program. In collecting the data, mixed questionnaire, participant classroom observation, and online semi-structured interview were distributed and conducted during the meetings, then analysed descriptively and thematically. The research findings point out that students positively responded to utilising Google Classroom for written synchronous and Zoom Cloud Meeting for virtual synchronous. To sum up, both platforms are recommended to be utilized in the online atmosphere for ERT. Further actions call for other researchers and educators to utilize them in classroom activities with similar backgrounds and problems. Besides, it is recommended for other researchers to conduct further studies related to the present field.

This article was structure and social function of folklore legend Si Untuang Sudah in Kanagarian Salido Sari Bulan District IV Jurai Pesisir Selatan Regency. Indonesian Literature Study Program, Department of Language and Literature of Indonesia, Faculty of Languages and Arts, State University of Padang. This study aims to describe the structure, and the functions contained in the story of Si Untuang Sudah in Kanagarian Salido Sari Bulan District IV Jurai Pesisir Selatan Regency. This research type is qualitative research by using descriptive method. Data were collected through interview, observation and recording with informant in Kanagariani Salido Sari Bulan District IV Jurai Pesisir Selatan Regency. Based on the research findings concluded the following matters. Structure of the story of Si Untuang Sudah can be described as folows: (a) figures of the legend Si Untuang Sudah, while the additional characters are Puti Linduang Moon, Rajo Angek Garang, Rajo Kuaso Kakek tuo, community (b) The path contained in legend Si Untuang is conventional groove; (c) there are several backgrounds contained in the story of Si Untuang Sudah, time setting, place, and social background. (d) The theme of the legend of Si Untuang has been about the greatness of God in showing his power; (e) The mandate we can take in the story is not to be emotional, do not be easy to believe in others, always be grateful and say thank you for what God has given you, to be wise before making a decision. The social function of the legend story of Si Untuang Sudah is for educating. entertaining, forming identity and tradition.Keywords: Structural, Social function, Folklore, Legend

This research aims to examine the influence of skepticism and gender on auditor decisions in audit conflict situations. The type of this research is causative research with experimental method and the data is collected through questionnaires. Population of this study were accounting students at Padang State University and Andalas University who had followed audit and financial accounting courses and purposive sampling was used as a sample technique. The total sample is 124 respondents. The results show that : skepticism has a significant positive effect on auditor decisions in audit conflict situations and gender failed to proof men are tend is solve audit conflict than women.Keywords: skepticism, gender, auditor decisions, audit conflicts

The appropriate teaching/learning materials are needed in improving the students’ skills in writing an essay. This research aims at proving the effect of using the complete teaching/learning materials for writing essays based on the ‘process genre’ approach on the improvement of students’ ability in writing English essays. The design of the research was a pre-post control group experiment. The population of the research was students of English Language Teaching Study Program of State University of Padang and two classes of students were chosen through cluster sampling technique as the sample of research. The result of the research shows that the materials are effective enough in improving students’ skills in writing different types of essays and after several revisions, the final product of the materials consists of student book, student workbook, and teacher’s manual. Thus it can be concluded that this new materials can be well implemented in the teaching and learning essay writing at the English Language Teaching Study Program of State University of Padang.

In learning German as Foreign Language (DaF – Deutsch als Fremdsprache), students in The German Language Program at The State University of Medan need to comprehend not only four competencies (Sprechfertigkeit, Lesefertigkeit, Hörfertigkeit, and Schreibfertigkeit), but they also required to have intercultural communication competence. This competence is crucial because there are so many differences between German cultures and Indonesian cultures. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Language and Arts, State University of Medan, in the German Language Education Study Program. The research and development method used in this study refers to Plomp's model, which consists of five steps, namely (1) investigation, (2) design, (3) development realization, (4) evaluation, and (5) implementation. However, in this study, the development process is focused on 3 steps, namely investigation, design, and development realization. Data collection techniques in this needs analysis are questionnaires, literature reviews, and interviews. The data to be analyzed in this study is qualitative data from interviews, observations, and documents. The data were obtained through a questionnaire distributed to 20 alumni of the German Language Study Program who live in Germany. Interkulturelle Kommunikation learning materials were developed based on the results of the questionnaire analysis. The results showed that the learning materials developed included the themes of Familie, Nachbarschaft, Schulsystem in Deutschland, Berufswelt, and Feste, Sinne und Bräuche.

The aim of this study was to develop appropriate autonomous learning materials of structure and written expression of TOEFL preparation for autonomous learners for the Centre for Language and Development of Yogyakarta State University based on the learning needs and target needs of the autonomous learners. The research was an educational research and development (R&D) adapting ADDIE model (Branch, 2009). Two instruments (questionnaire and test) for needs analysis and two instruments for validation were used. The data from the needs analysis and the material validation were analyzed quantitatively through descriptive statistics. The research findings revealed that the autonomous learning materials were appropriate in terms of input, learning activities, layout, design and organization. The learners’ role is to learn the materials individually and teacher's role is to be a guide and cooperator. All of the learning activities include reading of explanations of forms and functions, doing practices for forms and functions, multiple choice, and doing reflection. Every unit has the following organizing unit title, instructions for learners, grammatical form and functions, activities of forms, functions, and TOEFL tests items, online activities for further learning, learning essentials, reflection, self-test (TOEFL) and answer keys.

ABSTRACT   The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of changes in PSAK on the competence of lecturers and the level of understanding of students in the Accounting Study Program, University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo. The impact of changes in PSAK should be balanced with an increase in the ability of accounting lecturers in higher education to support learning materials that are in sync with the world of work, so an increase in lecturer competence is needed. Furthermore, the level of understanding of accounting students also needs to be updated, to support increased knowledge of standard changes, namely the latest PSAK, amended PSAK and revised PSAK. This research is a quantitative study. The method used in data collected in this study is distributing questionnaires that are processed using SmartPLS 3. The data that can be obtained are 100 respondents. Selanjutnya tingkat pemahaman mahasiswa akuntansi juga perlu diperbarui, untuk mendukung peningkatan pengetahuan tentang perubahan standar yaitu PSAK terbaru, PSAK amandemen dan PSAK revisi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan menyebarkan kuesioner yang diolah menggunakan SmartPLS3. Data yang dapat diperoleh sebanyak 100 responden. Hasil penelitian ini adalah dampak perubahan PSAK berpengaruh terhadap kompetensi dosen, dan dampak perubahan PSAK juga berpengaruh terhadap tingkat pemahaman mahasiswa.Kata Kunci : Dampak perubahan PSAK; kompetensi dosen; tingkat pemahaman siswa
