Studi ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengembangkan model evaluasi kompetensi guru bahasa Inggris SMA yang dapat digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi kelebihan dan kekurangan guru dalam proses pemelajaran dan (2) mengetahui efektivitas implementasi evaluasi internal kompetensi guru bahasa Inggris SMA. Studi ini menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan yang dikembangkan oleh Borg & Gall (1983, p.775). Subjek penelitian berjumlah 17 guru yang berasal dari 7 SMA di Sulawesi Selatan. Konstruk instrumen terdiri atas instrumen untuk mengevaluasi kompetensi guru bahasa Inggris dalam merencanakan pemelajaran, instrumen untuk mengevaluasi kompetensi guru dalam melaksanaan proses pemelajaran, dan instrumen untuk mengevaluai kompetensi guru dalam mengevaluasi hasil proses pemelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa instrumen yang dikembangkan dapat digunakan untuk mengevaluasi kompetensi guru bahasa Inggris. Untuk mengetahui sejauh mana tingkat efektivitas Model Evaluasi Internal Kompetensi Guru Bahasa Inggris SMA, model ini kemudian dievaluasi oleh teman sejawat guru bahasa Inggris dan guru bahasa Inggris itu sendiri. Mereka menyimpulkan bahwa komponen dari model tersebut adalah komprehensip, praktis, ekonomis, dan telah didukung oleh instrumen yang valid dan reliabel. Kata kunci: evaluasi internal, model evaluasi, kompetensi guru   INTERNAL EVALUATION MODEL OF ENGLISH TEACHERS’ COMPETENCY (IEMET) FOR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL Abstract High School that can be used to identify the teacher’s strengths and weaknesses in learning and teaching processes and (2) find out the implementation effectiveness of the Internal Evaluation Model of English Teachers’ Competency for Senior High School. This study used research & development methods by following the pattern of phases developed by Borg & Gall (1983, p.775).  The subjects of this study were seventeen English teachers from seven Senior High Schools in South Sulawesi. The constructs of instruments consist of the instrument to evaluate English teachers’ competency in planning the materials, teachers’ competency in teaching and learning processes, and teachers’ competency in evaluating the result of teaching and learning processes. An Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA)was used to analyze he instrument. The result showed the score of  KMO- MSA (Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin Measure of Sampling Adequacy) > 0.5,  Bartlett’s Test of  Sphericity ≤ 0.05, and the score of items total correlation rit<0.3. Meanwhile, the analysis of rater agreement used was Generalizability  of Variants (GENOVA). The interrater correlation showed that the score of G study was > 0.70. This result shows the instruments have fulfilled the requirement to evaluate the English teacher’s competency. In order to know to what extent the effectiveness of the Internal Evaluation Model of English teachers’ competency for Senior High School, the model was then evaluated by peer and the English teacher itself. They concluded that the components of the model were comprehensive, practical, economical, and were supported by instruments that valid and reliable. As the English teacher in the classroom, there will be some problems or conditions need to be accomplished. Teacher will see some of the students are very motivated, motivated or even feeling ignored in studying English. The learners who have contacted with English will find that some features are quite easy and extremely difficult. One of the more complicated problems of second or foreign languages learning and  teaching has been to define and apply the construct of motivation in the classroom. Motivation is a concept without physical reality, we cannot see motivation; we see effort, interest, attitude and desire. For speaking, it is important first to give competence and then performance. Competence is more likely to the extent a communicator is motivated to be so. Motivation is the extent to which a communicator is drawn towards or pushed away from communicating competently in a given context then performed. This is a descriptive  quantitative research. The data obtained from the questionnaire distributed and analyzed to get the result.  The date taken from the students of Muhammadiyah 1 Senior High School Gresik in Easy-Speaking course. The researcher wanted to know the students’ motivation in practicing speaking English in Easy-Speaking course. The results show that1) the learners effort in practicing speaking English is 56.1 %. 2) The learners’ interest in practicing speaking English is 49.7 %. 3) The learners’ attitude towards practicing speaking English is 59.9 %. 4) The learners’ desire in practicing speaking English is 71.43 %. Then, some suggestions are made: 1) Using media is very important both to increase the learners’ motivation and to give a big opportunity to learners to explore their idea. 2) Giving more variations techniques in teaching and learning process in order do not monotonous. 3) Giving prizes, encouraging and giving extra points for learners who can express their idea by speaking English well. 4) Creating favorable atmosphere in the classroom.

This study aims to investigate the challenges and teaching strategies of English teachers in District Merauke. This study is a mix-method namely the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. 16 English teachers as the participants in the study from six high schools in Merauke district namely Senior High School 1 Merauke, Senior High School 2 Merauke, Senior High School 3 Merauke, Vocational High School 3 Merauke, Senior High School YPK Merauke, and MA Al-Munawwaroh. Data collection instruments used were questionnaires and interviews. Questionnaires used consisted of 40 statements and the interview consisted of 14 questions related to challenges and strategy of teaching English in the era of industrial revolution 4.0. As a result, challenges in the teaching and learning process are, especially for online learning. Mostly the students are constrained in technology facilities and motivation of students. While for the strategy in teaching English in industrial revolution era 4.0, by motivating students about the importance of English, providing variations in learning such as the use of video, audio, practice variety questions, using the online application (WhatsApp, google classroom, google translate, zoom, google meet, etc). Besides, by using discussions, question and answer directly, blended learning method, discovery learning, using image media, audio Lingual Method, TPR, GT, using voice note. Thus, by merging cognitive, affective, and psychomotor processes. Besides, for strategies in creating interesting and creative learning in the era of industrial revolution 4.0, by using jokes, games, giving advice, giving praise, and collaborating with native speakers in online learning.

This research is carried out to examine the developed circular motion physics module in a cooperative learning setting for students of Grade X Science Senior High School in Banjarmasin. This study's general objectives are to produce a circular motion physics module integrated with gumbaan local wisdom in cooperative learning settings and describe its feasibility. Moreover, this study's specific objectives aimed to describe the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the module. This study utilizes the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate) development design model. The instruments used consisted of module validation sheets, students’ questionnaire responses, and learning outcome test. The results of the study indicated that: (1) the validity of the module, based on the content and display, obtained a score of 3.20, which fell in the "good" category, (2) the practicality of the module, based on students' questionnaire responses, obtained a percentage of 64.92% which is categorized as “good”, and (3) the effectiveness of the module, based on students' test scores, obtained a score of 0.44 which belonged in the "moderate" category. It is then concluded that the circular motion physics module, which integrated gumbaan local wisdom contents in cooperative learning settings, is proven feasible for learning and teaching and can be used as an alternative reference in improving the quality of learning, especially to improve the learning outcomes of learners. This module can be used as a reference that teachers can use in learning at senior high school.

Language is tool that use by human for communicate, and as tool to support them as social creature. Language is used by human every day in every situation, that make language become interesting phenomenon. During learning and teaching process that happen in class researcher find out the phenomenon that student use word “sorry” in context of asking permission not context for asking apology or expressing sympathy based on . Methodology of this research is qualitative with descriptive design. The instrument that use is observation, researcher is do observation in classroom activity on the class , and data is find from utterance that make by student during classroom activity. The result of this research most of student use word “sorry” in context of asking permission not for asking apologize. To understand the bigger concept of word sorry better to use bigger subject in research.

This article attempts to identify and clarify incongruous and problematic perceptions of team-teachers' roles held by JET Programme Assistant English Teachers (AETs) and their Japanese English-teaching colleagues (JTEs). Confusion over who should do what, and especially the frustration resulting from belief conflicts between team teachers, produces negative pressure on partners that could be detrimental to English lessons and general classroom atmospheres. Using data collected from long-answer sections of a nationwide questionnaire involving over 1,400 junior and senior high school educators, the author investigates discord found between and within AET and JTE groups at both levels. While respondents generally concurred on the main (i.e. top three) roles expected of themselves and their partners, discrepancies did arise regarding other, less commonly perceived roles. 本稿はJETプログラムの英語指導助手(AET)と日本人英語教師(JTE)によるティームティーチング(TT)授業において、両者の役割に関する問題や齟齬を指摘し、詳述するものである。英語の授業におけるそれぞれの担当内容、特に教育方針の違いから生じる不満が積もると、両者に否定的なプレッシャーを与え、教室内の雰囲気に悪影響を及ぼすことになるだろう。中学校・高等学校で教えている全国1,400名以上の英語教師からの自由記述データを利用して、筆者がAET集団とJET集団間、及び、それぞれの集団内部の問題を検討する。全般的に、回答者からは各々のパートナーに期待されている主要な役割分担に関して共通の認識を持っている割合が高かったが、双方に差異が見られる場合、役割に関する共通認識の割合が低い傾向があった。

<p><strong>Abstract</strong></p><p>This research aimed to improve reading comprehension of public senior high school students by using Experience-Text-Relationship method. The research was done in two cycles and involved 31 eleventh-grade students of a public senior high school in SimpangDua, Ketapang in the Academic Year of 2018/2019. The researcher used observation field notes and reading tests to collect data of the study. A collaborator was involved during the observations and practices to build trustworthy of the study. The data from the observation field notes were analyzed qualitatively and the data from the reading test results were analyzed by using descriptive statistics. The analysis of the observation field notes shows that the students became active and polite, had high enthusiasm in the teaching and learning processes. The analysis of the reading test results also reveals that the students had improved their reading comprehension. In conclusion, Experience-Text-Relationship method can improve the students’ reading comprehension.</p><p> </p><p><strong><em>Abstrak</em></strong></p><p><em>Penelitian bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa SMA negeri menggunakan metode Experience-Text-Relationship. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua siklus dan melibatkan 31 siswa kelas sebelas siswa di salah satu SMA negeri di SimpangDua, Kabupaten Ketapang pada Tahun Akademik 2018/2019. Peneliti menggunakan catatan lapangan observasi dan tes membaca untuk mengumpulkan data penelitian. Seorang kolaborator dilibatkan selama pengamatan dan praktik untuk membangun penelitian yang dapat dipercaya. Data dari catatan lapangan observasi dianalisis secara kualitatif dan data dari hasil tes membaca dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif. Analisis catatan observasi lapangan menunjukkan bahwa siswa menjadi aktif dan sopan, memiliki antusiasme yang tinggi dalam proses belajar-mengajar. Analisis hasil tes membaca juga mengungkapkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan pemahaman membaca siswa. Kesimpulannya, metode </em>Experience-Text-Relationship <em>dapat</em><em> membantu meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa.</em></p>

This research was design to know the effect of learning model multimedia-based toward the students’ English ablility at senior high school of Kolaka Regency. The question of the research was “Is there an effect of learning model multimedia-based toward the students’ English ablility at senior high school of Kolaka Regency? The objective of the research was to find out the data whether the learning model multimedia-based has an effect toward the students’ English ablility at senior high school of Kolaka Regency. The significant of the research was expected the model can be used as reference learning model to improve the students’ English ablility.<strong> </strong>The design of the research was pre-experimental design. The research was conducted at the first-class students of Senior High School 1 Wundulako in Kolaka District. The data were collected by using English test which given at the pre-test and the post-test.<strong> </strong>In analysed the students’ test result, which the mean score of pre-test was 33,8806 and the mean score of post-test was 69,4058, while the t-table 18,55&gt;2,042 t-test. Its mean that the learning model multimedia-based has an effect toward the students’ English ablility. Refering to the findings and discussions of the research, it can be concluded that the learning model multimedia-based has an effect toward the students’ English ablility at senior high school of Kolaka Regency. It was based on the mean score in pre-test and post-test.Based on the conclusion of the research, the researcher suggests to the teacher, especially English teacher in Kolaka Regency to use learning model multimedia-based in teaching and learning process to improve the students’ English ability.

Analytical exposition text is one of the texts studied by eleventh-grade students, and they are asked to produce the analytical exposition text by themselves. However, they faced some difficulties that impede their teaching and learning of making the analytical exposition text. This research aimed to design Materials of Writing Analytical Exposition Text (MOWAET) as a supplementary teaching material to support teaching and learning analytical exposition text. This research was developmental research and applied ADDIE as the procedure to design the materials. Still, there were only three implemented phases in this research: analyzing, designing, and developing. MOWAET was the completed design product for teaching-learning analytical exposition text. The researcher interviewed an English teacher of SMA Negeri 4 Pontianak to do the analyzing phase. MOWAET was created by using PowerPoint and Animaker as the supporting software. The researcher used an internal evaluation to ensure that the product is usable in the development phase. The internal evaluation phase showed that MOWAET met all the criteria, including the objectives, the content, and the media option. Shortening, it was found that the materials of writing analytical exposition text (MOWAET) are usable to support teaching and learning analytical exposition text.
