The structural and chemical composition of the colored layer located on the surface of a female statuette made of a mammoth tusk from the East Gravettian site of Kostenka 1, layer I, age of 23-21 thousand years, was studied using the IR reflection spectroscopy method. The site is located on the territory of the village of Kostenka in Khokholsky district of Voronezh region of Russia. The statuette was at the bottom of a storage pit with remnants of red paint. The paint layer on the figure consists of alumina and gypsum, the coloring pigments are mainly iron oxides. The obtained data allow to suggest that the technology used by the Paleolithic artist in painting the statuette of the Paleolithic Venus included a stage of preliminary preparation of the surface — priming of the treated surface using gypsum.

Infrared (IR) external reflection spectroscopy has been optimized for the quantitative determination of composition and film thickness of borophosphosilicate glass (BPSG) deposited on silicon wafer substrates. The precision of the partial least-squares calibrations for boron and phosphorus contents and thin-film thickness were measured as the cross-validated standard error of prediction statistic. The results showed that BPSG IR reflection spectra collected over a wide range of incident IR radiation angles (15°, 25°, 45°, and 60°) can be used for the simultaneous quantification of these three BPSG parameters. When high angles of incidence were employed, the measurement was found to be more sensitive to small errors in the angle of incidence. The polarization state of the incident IR radiation did not noticeably affect the prediction of the three calibrated BPSG parameters. The results achieved in this study provide guidelines for at-line process monitoring and quality control of BPSG thin films used in the fabrication of microelectronic devices. Index Headings: IR reflection; Multivariate calibration; Partial least-squares

The article presents an alternative method of recycling of dispersed metal waste, based on a continuous solid-liquid-phase process, implemented in rotary tilting furnaces (RTF). The new proposed method of recycling allows processing wastes with almost any composition and state from metal to oxide and multicomponent wastes (shavings, fine scrap, mill scale, aspiration dust, sludge, etc.). The wastes can be even contaminated with moisture, oil, and organic impurities. The method developed does not require preliminary preparation of the initial materials (cleaning, homogenization, pelletizing, etc.). The finished products are ingots (pigs) for subsequent processing aiming the particular chemical composition or cast alloys of certain brend.

The paper presents new data on chemical composition and antioxidant properties in extracts of the aerial organs of Saponaria officinalis growing on the territory of the Republic of Buryatia. It was revealed that soapberry leaves extracts contain a number of organic acids such as oxalic, formic, fumaric, succinic, malic, citric, and benzoic ones, the dominant being formic, malic, acetic and citric acids. Of vitamins B2, B3. BC extracted from the plant the dominant one was riboflavin. The method of and Fthigh-performance liquid chromatography helped to reveal five compounds identified as aglycone and glycosidic in character. They are orientin, isoeryentin, isovitinexin-7-О-glycoside, orientin-7-О-glycoside, of which isovitoxin is dominant. The greatest total antioxidant activity was demonstrated by soapberry leaves and inflorescences picked up on abandoned sites of the village of Selenginsk. Extractions from Saponaria officinalis leaves showed showed antiradical and Fe2+-chelating activity comparable to that of the extractions from plants with pronounced antioxidant activity. Thus, the data obtained indicated the antioxidant activity of S.officinalis aqueous extracts due to the presence of natural flavonoids. This fact shows the plant as a promising new source of antioxidants.

Poplar plants (Populus L.) are one of the promising species for inclusion in the State Pharmacopoeia of Ukraine. To date, extensive experience has been accumulated in the use of extracts from buds, leaves and bark of various types of poplars in folk and official medicine as effective anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, analgetic, antibacterial agents. According to literature data only buds are pharmacopoeial raw materials in some countries of the world. Poplar leaves are of interest as a new promising type of medicinal plant raw material, since they have a chemical composition close to the buds, moreover, they are much easier to harvest and the possible volume of raw materials procurement is much larger. The laurel-leaf poplar (Populus laurifolia Ledeb.) is assigned to the section of balsamic poplars (Tacamahaca). It is grown in forest culture, used for landscaping and creation of field-protective plantations in Ukraine. Continuing a comprehensive pharmacognostic study of raw materials of plants of the genus poplar, purpose of this work was to study composition and content of compounds distilled with water vapor of leaves of laurel-leaf poplar cultivated in Ukraine. Leaves for research were harvested in June 2019, from trees growing on the shores of the Murom reservoir in the village of Russkiye Tishki, Kharkiv region (50°09′30″N 36°29′10″E). The composition of compounds distilled in water vapor was investigated on Agilent Technologies 6890N (USA) chromatograph with a 5973N mass spectrometric detector. The total content of compounds distilled with water vapor was 2 126.1 mg/kg. 46 compounds were identified. Terpenoids were presented by 20 compounds with a total content 1 444 mg/kg, the remaining 26 compounds were aromatic substances (256.2 mg/kg) and compounds of various groups (216.8 mg/kg). The dominant compounds in content were β-eudesmol (776.4 mg/kg), γ-eudesmol (298 mg/kg), α-bisabolol (125.9 mg/kg), eugenol (70.9 mg/kg). The data obtained indicate the rich chemical composition of leaves of laurel-leaf poplar and are the basis for further in-depth study of this raw material for assessment the possibility of using it as a medicine.

The work considers the wedding ceremony and the features of its performing that existed in the village of Dankovo, Kashirsky district of Voronezh region in the middle and second half of the 20th century. The vocabulary reflecting this ancient custom is described. The language material of the article was the speech of the indigenous inhabitants of the named settlement. It was established that ritual actions consisted of several stages and carried specific content. They were interconnected and represented a certain structure. The wedding ceremony included: the stage of frets, the preparation of the dowry (it was treated in a special, creative way), the actual wedding with blessing and wedding, festive clothes and shoes of the bride and groom, musical instruments used to accompany the fun, the stage of giving gifts, the ritual of chicken and other. Food and spirits prepared by women for the guests of the event are considered. Undoubtedly, the custom of holding a wedding has a deep meaning, because the family at all times has been the most significant group in society, and its creation is one of the most important events in the life of every person. The value of marriage and its preservation is beyond doubt. The theme of traditional folk culture becomes interesting to all those who study the Russian language, which exists in its various forms.
