Lecithin is an emulsifier that plays an active role in reducing surface tension in making emulsions. The production of lecithin from other vegetable oils allows the use of other types of vegetable oil as a source of lecithin production to replace soy-based oil, which has begun to be used as a bioenergy raw material. This study aims to find an alternative source of new lecithin derived from corn oil by knowing the characteristics of lecithin and applied to mayonnaise. The resulting lecithin was used in mayonnaise with a 2 factorial randomized block design method consisting of 3 levels. Based on the results obtained, the characteristic of corn oil lecithin is that the largest content is hexadecanoic acid which is 44.79%, and the strongest vibration band is CH2 vibration with stretching modes of symmetry and asymmetry at 2922 and 2853 cm–1 and the terminal CH3 group in the 1374 cm–1. L3C3 treatment was the best result with 60% fat content, 4% emulsion stability, 2.12 cP viscosity, and 1.42 × 10–3 N/m surface tension and organoleptic showed a preference value, namely color 4.4 (like), taste 3.2 (sufficient like), smell 4 (like), and texture 3.80 (like it).

Cotton is a natural fibre crop for some textile raw material. The development of cotton is directed mainly to marginal lands, although few of it is planted in paddy fields after rice harvested. The productivity level of cotton fibre, is still low, about 0.8 to 1 ton per hectare. Effort to increase cotton production is done through the application of growth regulator aiming at enhancing to the growth of plant height, number of branches, number of flower, and boll. These components are fibre determinans. Research conducted at Sumberrejo Ex-perimental Garden, Bojonegoro from May to October 2010, in paddy fields after rice harvested. Factorial treat-ment arranged using randomized block design repeated four times. The first factor consisting of four cotton varieties: 1) Kanesia 8, 2) Kanesia 13, 3) Kanesia 14, and 4) Kanesia 15. The second factor is application of pa-clobutrazol by spraying the plants with usage of: a) 0, b) 1.50 l/ha given once at age 60 days, and c) 1.50 l/ ha given twice at the age of 60 days and 75 days. The research showed that Kanesia 8 and Kanesia 13 varie-ties gave optimum vegetative and generative growth followed with Kanesia 13, Kanesia 14, and Kanesia 15. Paclobutrazol did not contribute significant effect on the growth of both vegetative and generative of cotton. The productivity of seed cotton of Kanesia 8 and Kanesia 13, 1,643 kg/ha and 1,686 kg/ha, respectively.

Abstract.Currently ethanol produced from molasses, cassava and maize, thereby competing with the need for food, animals feed and other industrial raw materials, so that the supply of raw materials is not continuity. If this continues, it will certainly have an impact on food prices spike, it will create new problems on the economy of the community, and one of an alternative raw material for bioethanol production is cellulose biomass. To convert biomass into bioethanol through several stages, including pretreatment, hydrolysis and fermentation. The content of lignin in biomass will disturb the enzymatic hydrolysis process, so it is necessary to encourage the delignification in the pretreatment stage. Microwave - alkali pretreatment can reduce more lignin and hemicellulose in rice straw, so it needs to be an effort to change the composition of lignocellulose and improve the hydrolysis of corn cob is fermented to become ethanol. Pretreatment of corn cobs research was done using randomized block design arranged in factorial and repeated 2 times. The first factor is the concentration of NaOH for 0,5 N, 1 N and 1,5N. The second factor is the time of exposure to microwave heat radiation for 10, 20 and 30 minutes. The results showed that cellulose content increases with prolonged exposure concentrations of NaOH and microwave, as well as to the content of hemicellulose and lignin decreased along with the increase of exposure duration of Microwave and the increase of NaOH concentrations.

Abstract Seaweed Eucheuma sp. is one of the natural resources of Indonesia. Seaweed many processed in dry form after going through a drying process or processed into food ready for consumption. Seaweed is no longer just eaten or used to direct treatment, but can be processed into jelly, Algin, carrageenan (carrageenan) and furselaran (furcellaran) which is an important raw material in the food industry, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and so on. This plant has an important economic value in various industries such as pharmaceutical, cosmetics, food, textile and paper industries. This study aims to determine the Fixer solution of Tawas, Poly Aluminium Chloride and Kapur Tohor most effective at biopigmen Eucheuma sp. instead of synthetic dyes in textile and determine the best concentration of the solution Fixer Tawas, Poly Aluminium Chloride and Tohor in deciding the color biopigmen Eucheuma sp. instead of synthetic dyes in textiles. This study uses a randomized block design (RAK). This research was conducted by observing and comparing the effect Fixer solution between Tawas, Poly Aluminium Chloride and Kapur Tohor against staining quality biopigmen seaweed Eucheuma sp. instead of synthetic dyes in textiles. Organoleptic test results showed fixation material Poly Aluminium Chloride able to maintain better color than the color produced by the fixation Tawas and Kapur Tohor. Poly Aluminium Chloride fixation material produces a bright brown color, Tawas brown, reddish brown Tohor. The test results of color fastness to rubbing cloth (dry) indicates that the color fastness of the strongest to the weakest sequentially generated from Tawas fixation materials, lime Tohor, Poly Aluminium Chloride, while the test fastness to washing soap and desecration of white cloth from the strongest to The weakest is Poly Aluminium Chloride, Kapur Tohor and Tawas.

The present study was undertaken to know the effects of salinity on nodulation and leghemoglobin content in two cultivars (NDM-17 and Pusa Kasauri) of fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-greacum L.) treated with rhizobium. The pot experiments were conducted following completely randomized block design method. Two sets of pots were maintained with one set treated with rhizobium and other without. The sets were irrigated with saline water of different electrical conductivities (0.2, 3.2, 6.2, 7.2, 10.2, 12.2 and 14.2 dSm-1) created with NaCl, Na2SO4, NaHCO3 and CaCl2 salts. Observations on nodules number, weight and leghemoglobin content were recorded 30, 60, 90 and 120 days after sowing . The nodules growth decreased with increasing levels of salinity. Seeds treated with rhizobium ameliorated the deleterious effect of salinity at all levels besides improving the fertility of soil and growth of root nodules by nitrogen fixation. Present findings revealed that maximum number, weight and leghemoglobin content in cv. NDM-17 was higher as compared to cv. Pusa Kasauri in both treated and non-treated with rhizobium indicating it be the tolerant of the two cultivars.
