Students are the receiver and the teachers are the providers of information at a classroom. The exchange of information is conducted mainly through delivering lectures although there are several other ways to do that. Generally in a longer class duration (more than 1 hour), breaks are quite essential for the students as well as for the lecturer to get revitalized. This study aims at examining the impact of in-class breaks on revitalizing or energizing the students in order to focus on the lectures effectively. The investigation was conducted on 527 Bachelor and Master students of three universities in China and three universities in Bangladesh on a random sampling basis. Those students participated at two different classes: one with frequent short breaks and other one with two long breaks where they were being observed. The results indicate that frequent short breaks can revitalize the students more than fewer long breaks. Further, it was revealed that the Chinese students were more punctual and efficient in time management than the Bangladeshi students. The author hopes that this study will be inductive to the university lecturers as well as educational policymakers for putting more motivational focus for students in order to make the lectures enjoyable and effective.

The purposes are to deepen the understanding of the correlation between learning motivation and learning burnout and thereby stimulate the learning motivation of college students. According to the theory of educational psychology, mechanism of learning motivation, and causes of learning burnout are analyzed. The learning motivation and learning burnout of college students majoring in sports are taken as the breakthrough point. The learning motivation and learning burnout situation of Chinese and Malaysian students majoring in sports are surveyed and compared through questionnaires. In addition, Chinese students majoring in sports are taken as examples to analyze the impact of learning motivation on learning burnout. The correlations between various dimensions are analyzed to determine the impact of learning motivation on learning burnout. The total learning motivation scores of students from the Sport School of Zhengzhou University and the University of Malaya Centre for Sport and Exercise Sciences are 122.3 ± 22.4 and 140.2 ± 23.6, respectively, and their average scores for each question are 3.60 and 4.07, respectively. The total learning burnout scores of students from the Sport School of Zhengzhou University and the University of Malaya Centre for Sport and Exercise Sciences are 58.2 ± 8.95 and 53.6 ± 7.34, respectively. The learning motivation of Malaysian college students majoring in sports is slightly stronger than Chinese students. Compared with Malaysia, the learning burnout of college students majoring in sports in China is extra apparent, mainly exhibited in the two dimensions of depression and a low sense of achievement. The learning motivation and learning burnout of college students majoring in sports are negatively correlated; that is, the stronger the learning motivation, the weaker the learning burnout; on the contrary, the weaker the learning motivation, the more severe the learning burnout. In conclusion, learning burnout of college students can be reduced by correcting and stimulating their learning motivation and improving their learning self-efficacy.

The “Open IT” research project is being carried out in the scope of the federal state “Aufstieg durch Bildung: offene Hochschulen” initiative (“Advancement through education: open universities”) in which credit transfer programmes are being designed for IT practitioners in Germany. In this process, research is being carried out into the development, implementation and use of methods to support self-study, which will be prepared for transfer to teaching. The use of a self-study roadmap for students and lecturers has been developed in the course of this research. This self-study roadmap supports students’ time management and the balance of study, work and family.Following the numerous evaluation steps involved in the creation of the self-study roadmap, the roadmap has been formally implemented and developed within the research project. The benefits, use and challenges of this learning tool are analysed and reflected upon in this paper in the context of education management. A strategic point of view has been chosen so that the tool can be examined on a meta level. The relevant perspective of the university, lecturers and students has been adopted so that an all-encompassing view can be guaranteed at strategic level.

This study sought to determine if the implementation of standards-based learning in high schools affects students’ transition to learning in university courses. Surveys and interviews with 13 students who had graduated from high schools implementing standards-based learning and who had completed their first academic semester at a midsize, private, Midwest university revealed no detrimental effects. The most frequently mentioned transition difficulties related to social issues and time management. Implications for implementing high school grading reforms are discussed.

<p>The study evaluated the extent to which Continuous Assessment (CA) was practiced by university lecturers in Delta State University, Abraka, Nigeria. The evaluation of continuous assessment focused on the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains of students’ behaviour. That is teaching and learning should focus on these areas. Two research questions were raised, and two hypotheses were tested to achieve the purpose of the study. A sample of 200 lecturers was randomly selected using simple random sampling and stratifies random sampling techniques. A 5-point scaled questionnaire was used as an instrument to collect data. The validity of the instrument was determined through expert judgement and factor analysis. Thus the instrument has face and construct validities. The reliability of the instrument was established through Cronbach Alpha. A reliability coefficient of 0.86 was obtained as a measure of internal consistency. The data collected were analyzed. The research questions were answered with the use of mean. The hypotheses were tested with Z-test at .05 level of significance. The result of evaluation revealed that the extent to which university lecturers practice continuous assessment with emphasis on the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains of students’ behaviour was low. There was no significant difference between male and female as well as junior and senior lecturers on the practice of continuous assessment in the university. It was noted that there should be a continuous and effective monitoring of continuous assessment practice by the university lecturers.</p><p> </p><p> </p>

The populatiaon of  this study was teachers in senior high school and the same lavels who teach in Surabaya and Sidoarjo. Sampling technique used was propability sampling which is call purposive random sampling. The population and the sample are the same n = 110 and significance level of 21.3%. Data analysis used regression analysis using SPSS 18 for windows. The result tasks simultan got R = 0,461  F = 14,45, p = 0,000 (p < 0,01). It means that there are significant effect between time management and self efficacy with procrastination. The results of this study have shown significant effect, in which the time management and self efficacy affects procrastination althought the impact is very small because the coefficient of determination (R = 0,213) indicates that the relative contribution given by time management and seld efficacy to procrastination are only 21,3 % . Therefore there are 78.7 % of other factors that may determine the emergence of procrastination in teacher’s senior high schools.Key word: time management, self efficacy and procrastination

Background and Objectives: The goal of this study was to investigate the impact of medical students functioning in the role of scribe on students’ learning, medical practice, and preceptor. Methods: Third-year students from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences volunteered and were trained to function in the role of scribe. Preceptors also completed training to have students scribe in their practice. The students, preceptors, and staff completed questionnaires assessing perceptions of the impact on the student, the practice, and the provider. We elicited comments and concerns from students, staff, and preceptors. Results: All groups perceived medical students’ scribing as helpful for teaching medical students in the clinical setting, with an average questionnaire score for all groups of 4.7/5. The students reported it was a positive experience. It allowed them to be more engaged, improved the learning environment, and didn’t detract from clinical learning. Staff reported that students were more engaged, and scribing did not impact time management. Preceptors reported that students were more engaged in the practice, and with their team. Preceptors reported it was also easier to teach, and easier to stay on time with medical students scribing. All reported that documentation was important to learn in the third year of medical school, and that students should be trained to function in a limited scribe role. Conclusions: Allowing students to document in the electronic medical record provides many benefits to students and preceptor practices and should be encouraged and advocated for in medical education.
