Objective: Every year approximately 13% (78,000) of maternal death caused by unsafe abortion. Indonesia Family Planning Association predicts 2.5 million abortions per year and 1.5 million of them committed by teenagers. Adolescent reproductive health problems are more alarming year by year. Sexual behavior tends to be permissive and bold with limited knowledge of reproductive health has increased the risk of abortion. This study is to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior regarding abortion in young adults. Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study. The subjects were young women aged 18–24 years old who were fulfilled by inclusion and exclusion criteria. The knowledge, attitudes, and behavior were assessed using questionnaire. The results were analyzed using statistical program. Results: The total subjects recruited in this study were 55 subjects. Twenty-eight (50.9%) of subjects has a good knowledge and 27 (49.1%) of subjects had a moderate knowledge. Twenty-nine (52.7%) subjects had moderate attitudes and 36.4% of subjects had good attitude. Thirty (54.5%) of subjects had a good behavior regarding abortion. Conclusion: Most of the subjects had good level of knowledge and moderate attitude toward abortion.

Cervical cancer is one of the top cause mortality in female in Indonesia. Nowadays cervical cancer is the 2nd from 10 cancers with highest incidences in the country with 40.000 numbers of cases every year. Even in DKI Jakarta, the incidences of cervical cancer have reached 5919 cases per year. The symptoms of cervical cancer only occur when it is already in late stadium. Therefore, productive age female should aware to do VIA test routinely to prevent the cancer. However, productive age female awareness to do IVA test still low especially in low education country like Indonesia. This study aims are to see the relationship between knowledge with attitude, and behavior about VIA examination in married woman in Puskesmas Kecamatan Makasar, East Jakarta. This study is using cross-sectional method with 97 samples that are married woman that visit Puskesmas Kecamatan Makasar, East Jakarta, who passed the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected by using questionnaire. Result: 66% of respondents have an average level of knowledge and only 5,2% who have a good level of knowledge about VIA test. The good attitude for doing VIA test was up to 47,4%, however the behaviour of doing VIA test shows different result that 79,40% have bad behaviour. There is no significant correlation between knowledge with attitude and behavior about VIA examination (p = 0,323; p = 0,217). From the study, there is no correlation between knowledge with attitude and behavior to do VIA examination.

Down syndrome is a genetic disorder characterized by an excess of third chromosome in the 21st pair of chromosomes that causes the number of chromosomes to be 47. The method of parenting is a way of caring, nurturing and educating, therefore parents should have knowledge, attitude and good method of behavior parenting. The highest prevalence of Down syndrome is in West Java, which is around 50.90%. The aim of the research is to recognize the level of knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of parents to the method of upbringing children who have Down syndrome in SLB-C Tunas Harapan Karawang. The research method used in this research is descriptive, cross sectional design with research instrument in the form of questionnaire containing 30 questions. Research subjects were all parents of Down syndrome children in SLB-C Tunas Harapan Karawang with 52 respondents. The result of the research is 90,4% of respondents have good knowledge, 98,2% of respondents have good attitude, and 96,1% of respondents have good behavior. The conclusion of this research is the level of knowledge, attitude, and behavior of parents who have Down syndrome children in SLB-C Tunas Harapan Karawang generally is good.     Keywords: down syndrome, parents, upbringing

Media as a tool that is widely used by adolescents in seeking information has an impact on their attitudes and behavior, including adolescent reproductive health behaviors. This article aimed to determine the relationship of the media with adolescent reproductive health attitudes and behaviors. The research design was a cross-sectional approach. Data collection was done through questionnaires and were analyzed using frequency distribution and chi-square test. The population of this study were students of SMPN and SMAN in Kabupaten Bandung totaling 12,000, samples were selected by stratified random sampling and totaling 668 students. The results found that the handbook (p = 0.31), newspapers (p = 0.46), TV (p = 0.63), radio (p = 1.00), VCD (p = 0.92), and the Internet (p = 0.13) had no relationship with attitude. However, internet (p = 0.03), newspapers (p = 0.01), and radio (p = 0.02) related to behavior, while handbooks (p = 0.14), TV (p = 0.49), and VCD (p = 1.00) did not have relationship with behavior. Media of internet, radio, and newspapers relate to adolescent reproductive health behavior. The media can be used as a means of education in adolescents, especially behavior about adolescent reproductive health.Keywords: Attitude, Adolescent Reproductive Health, Behavior , Media.

Background A diphtheria outbreak was declared at the end of 2017. The outbreak response immunization (ORI) was a key Indonesian government strategy to control diphtheria in three outbreak areas. This strategy was implemented starting December 11, 2018.  Parents’ positive knowledge, attitude, and behavior regarding diphtheria and the diphtheria ORI may influence the coverage of diphtheria ORI in Indonesia. Objective To assess for relationships between parental knowledge, attitude, and behavior to coverage of diphtheria ORI in children.  Method This cross-sectional study was conducted at Kapuk Muara Public Elementary School 03, North Jakarta from November 2018 to August 2019. The respondents were parents of the schoolchildren. Parents filled questionnaires about their knowledge, attitude, and behavior with regards to diphtheria ORI coverage in children. Results The coverage of diphtheria ORI in children was 61.8%. From 110 respondents, 40.9% of parents had at least sufficient knowledge, 73.8% had good attitude, and 55.5% had good behavior regarding diphtheria and diphtheria ORI. Parental knowledge had no significant association to coverage of diphtheria ORI in their children. However, there were significant relationships between parental attitude and behavior to coverage of diphtheria ORI in their children. Conclusion The coverage of diphtheria ORI needs improvement. Most parents have sufficient level of knowledge, good attitude, and good behavior towards diphtheria and diphtheria ORI. There is no association between parental knowledge about diphtheria and diphtheria ORI to coverage of diphtheria ORI, but there are significant association of parental attitude and behavior toward diphtheria ORI coverage.

Background: Reproductive health is one of the most important things for human life, which includes a complete physical, mental, social welfare condition in all matters relating to the function and role of the reproductive system. Reproductive health education should be given since adolescence, because adolescence is a phase towards more mature reproduction. Adolescent problems related to reproductive health, often stem from a lack of information, understanding and awareness to achieve reproductive health. Objectives: This study aims to determine the level of knowledge, attitudes and behavior of adolescents about reproductive health at SMK Negeri 8 Medan. Methods: This study was a descriptive study with a cross sectional design. The research data is primary data, namely by filling out a questionnaire. The sample of this research is 96 people. The sample technique is stratified random sampling. Data were analyzed using the SPSS computer program using descriptive statistical tests and displaying the results in distribution and frequency tables. Results: Knowledge level of adolescents in SMK Negeri 8 Medan is good (59.4%), attitude level is good (80.2%) and behavior level is good (99%). Conclusion: The level of knowledge, attitudes and behavior of adolescents about health reproduction at SMK Negeri 8 is classified as good. Keywords: adolescent, attitude, behavior, knowledge, reproductive health     Latar Belakang: Kesehatan reproduksi merupakan salah satu hal yang sangat penting bagi kehidupan manusia yaitu mencakup keadaan sejahtera baik fisik, mental, sosial yang utuh dalam segala hal yang berkaitan dengan fungsi, peran dari sistem reproduksi. Pendidikan kesehatan reproduksi sebaiknya diberikan sejak remaja, karena remaja merupakan fase menuju reproduksi yang lebih matang. Permasalahan remaja yang berkaitan dengan kesehatan reproduksi, sering kali berakar dari kurangnya informasi, pemahaman dan kesadaran untuk mencapai keadaan sehat secara reproduksi. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan, sikap dan perilaku remaja tentang kesehatan reproduksi di SMK Negeri 8 Medan. Metode: Penelitian ini adalah studi deskriptif dengan desain cross sectional. Data penelitian adalah data primer yaitu dengan pengisian kuesioner. Sampel penelitian ini berjumlah 96 orang. Teknik sampel adalah stratified random sampling. Data dianalisis menggunakan program komputer SPSS menggunakan uji statistik deskriptif dan menampilkan hasil dalam tabel distribusi dan frekuensi. Hasil: Tingkat pengetahuan remaja SMK Negeri 8 Medan tergolong baik (59,4%), tingkat sikap tergolong baik (80,2%), dan tingkat perilaku tergolong baik (99%). Kesimpulan: Tingkat pengetahuan, sikap dan perilaku remaja tentang kesehatan reproduksi di SMK Negeri 8 tergolong baik. Kata kunci: kesehatan reproduksi, pengetahuan, perilaku, remaja, sikap

Introduction: Adolescent is an important segment of life while a child undergoes biological transformation.Objective: The study was conducted to assess the level of knowledge of mothers about reproductive health needs of their adolescent girls. Methods: This descriptive cross sectional study was conducted on the mothers having adolescent girls. Data was collected by face to face interview with a semi structured questionnaire and analyzed with SPSS. The knowledge of mothers was assessed by Likert scale.Place of study: The study was conducted at 5 schools of Dhaka city on 118 respondents over a period of four months.Results: It was revealed from the findings that among 118 mothers the mean age of respondents were 40.71 years with standard deviation ± 3.707 years. Majority (70%) of respondents were undergraduate qualified and rest were post graduats. Among the respondents, 64% of mothers did not want to provide information on reproductive health to their daughters. Seventy two percent of the respondents had average knowledge about puberty. Among the respondents, 47% had average knowledge regarding adolescent reproductive health problems and 77% of respondents had average knowledge about safe motherhood. Regarding the complication of unsafe abortion, 73% had average knowledge and 70% had average knowledge about consequence of early pregnancy. Fifty seven percent of the respondents had good knowledge about Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Sixty one percent of the respondents had good knowledge regarding the high risk behaviour of the adolescents. Significant statistical association was found between knowledge and education, knowledge and occupation, and knowledge and source of information of reproductive health (p<0.05).Conclusion: The study findings may be helpful for baseline information and would be beneficial to the policymakers and programme planners to sophisticate further strategy to increase mothers' knowledge about the reproductive health needs of their adolescent girls.Key words: Knowledge; adolescent; reproductive health needs DOI: 10.3329/jafmc.v6i2.7266JAFMC Bangladesh. Objetivo: Describir el conocimiento y las prácticas relacionadas con la Salud Sexual y Reproductiva en los estudiantes de una Universidad del Suroccidente Colombiano. Materiales y métodos: Investigación cuantitativa, descriptiva, prospectiva de corte transversal; se realizó con estudiantes matriculados en I y II semestre en el primer periodo académico 2016; el cálculo de la muestra se obtuvo utilizando la fórmula de varianza desconocida y población total conocida (3.489), obteniendo un tamaño de muestra de 415 estudiantes. Se utilizó un instrumento tipo encuesta estructurada elaborada a partir del formato de consejería del programa de salud sexual y reproductiva universitario.  Los datos se procesaron a través de Excel y el   paquete estadístico SPSS versión 22, para determinar la significación de la asociación se utilizó la prueba Chi cuadrado con una confiabilidad de 95%. Resultados: En la población estudiada se encontró un predominio masculino del 50,7%, la edad promedio fue de 19 años, encontrando que el 81% están en una etapa de adolescencia tardía, el 62% tiene un nivel de conocimientos deficientes sobre salud sexual y reproductiva, el 78% inicio vida sexual con edad promedio de 16 años, un gran porcentaje de estos estudiantes tienen entre 1 y 3 compañeros(as) sexuales al año. El 70% utilizó condón en su primera relación sexual y el 12,3% de la población utilizó la píldora de emergencia. Conclusiones: El nivel de conocimiento acerca de salud sexual y reproductiva es deficiente. La mayoría de los estudiantes encuestados utilizan al menos un método de planificación familiar en sus relaciones sexuales.Palabras clave: Sexualidad, Salud reproductiva, estudiantes, conocimientos y prácticas en salud.Sexual and reproductive health in university students: beyond knowledge andpractices AbstractObjective: To describe the knowledge and practices related to Sexual and Reproductive Health in the students of a University of the Suroccidente Colombiano. Results: A male prevalence of 50.7% was found in the study population, the mean age was 19 years, and 81% were in the late teens, 62% had a poor level of knowledge about sexual health and reproductive, 78% start sexual life with average age of 16 years, a large percentage of these students have between 1 and 3 sexual partners a year. Seventy percent used a condom at their first sexual intercourse and 12.3% of the population used the emergency pill. Conclusions: The level of knowledge about sexual and reproductive health is deficient. Most students surveyed use at least one method of family planning in their sexual relationships.Saúde sexual reprodutiva em estudantes universitários: conhecimentos e práticasSumario Objetivos: Descrever os conhecimentos e práticas relacionados com a saúde sexual e reprodutiva em estudantes de uma Universidado sudoeste Colombiano. Foi utilizado um tipo de instrumento de pesquisa estruturada. Os dados foram processados pelo pacote estatístico Excel versão 2010 e SPSS versão 22, para determinar o significado do teste foram utilizados do qui-quadrado de associação com uma confiabilidade de 95%. Resultados: Na população estudada predominância do sexo masculino de 50,7%, a idade média dos alunos era de 19 anos, descobrindo que 81% estão em uma fase de adolescência tardia, 62% têm um nível de conhecimentos regulares saúde sexual e reprodutiva, 78% inicio vida sexual com uma idade média de 16 anos, uma grande porcentagem desses estudantes estão entre 1 e 3 parceiro (s) ano sexual. 70% usam preservativo em sua primeira relação sexual e 12,3% da população usava a pílula de emergência. Conclusões: O nível de conhecimento sobre a saúde sexual e reprodutiva é regular. Reproductive health rights ensure that people are able to have satisfying and safe sex life and that they have the capacity to reproduce with freedom to decide, when and how often to do so. This study aimed to assess the knowledge and practices on reproductive health rights among madhesi married women. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 384 madhesi married women of reproductive age in Sarlahi district conducted from July 2014 to December 2014. Data were entry in Epidata software and analyzed by SPSS 20 version. Of the total 384 respondents most of them (39.3%) were of age group 25-35 years from different ethnic groups. Most were simple illiterate (65.6%) and housewife (60.9%) very few of respondents were knowledge about reproductive health rights (37%) and not statistical significant relationship with level of knowledge and level of practice (χ 1 2 =2.036, p=0.154). Level of knowledge was statistically significant relationship with educational level (χ 4 2 = 43.983 p<0.001). Use of FP services have statistically significant relationship with Age group (p<0.001). The level of knowledge and level of practice on RHRs is still very low in Madhesi women. Keywords: Reproductive health rights; Madhesi women; practice

Aim: The aim of this study was to identify the public concerns, attitudes and behavior towards vaccination. Methodology: This was a cross-sectional study that included an online survey about the public concerns, attitudes and behavior towards vaccination in Saudi Arabia. The survey was translated to Arabic language and converted to an online form using google forms and after that it was sent to be filled by the parents. Results: About 92% of the respondents said that children should be vaccinated in order to protect them and about 86% of them believed that vaccinations are safe for children in general. Regarding the concerns about vaccination, about 69% of the respondents were concerned about the distress to children of the injection itself and 59% of them were concerned about the increasing number of vaccines recommended for children. Furthermore, about 62% of the respondents were concerned that vaccines are not tested enough for safety. Conclusion: The majority of respondents in this study reported positive attitude but more than half of them expressed some degree of concern regarding children vaccination. Healthcare professionals should play an active role in clarifying these concerns about vaccination with the public. Moreover, they should communicate with parents regarding the vaccinations and provide them with a trusted information about the vaccine.
