The twelve chapters of Kalmyk epos «Jangar» which were edited for publication by B. Basangov in 1940 were published in Mongolian by T. Dugersuren under the supervision of Ts. Damdynsuren. Later, twenty six songs from «Jangar” published in Moscow in 1978 and 1990, were published in modern Mongolian in 2000. The article gives a comparative analysis of some dialect words from the two mentioned above Mongolian publications and the original text in Kalmyk.

The paper is focused on the study of literary translation as a type of rhetorical communication. The subject being analysed is that national conceptual sphere can be a reliable criterion for the authenticity of translation. The topic of the research is that national conceptual sphere regarded as a means of illocutionary influence and a source of differences in rhetorical conscience of the author of the original text as well as the translator and the addressee. A comparative analysis of Russian and Kazakh translations of Robert Burns’ ballad “John Barleycorn” is carried out. The comparison is based on the structure of rhetorical communication, national conceptual sphere, prosody parameters and genre features. The similarities and differences of the translations are specified. The similarities are shown in referential, strophic and genre proximity of the original and translations.

Translating a text, especially when it comes to fiction, one of the main problems is to find appropriate and qualitative methods of translating culture-determined words. Therefore, a number of decisions made by the translator defines how a given text will be perceived by readers of a different culture. This article presents a comparative analysis of the culture-specific vocabulary of the original Russian text and the text of the translation, followed by the identification of vocabulary features given in the original text and the methods of its translation into English.

The article gives an analysis of the first Russian translation of Abelard and Héloïse’s letters (The Collection of Abelard and Héloïse’s Letters with the Life Description of These Miserable Lovers) made by A.I. Dmitriev in 1783 from Count Bussy-Raboutin’s French retelling. A comparative analysis of Dmitriev’s translation with the original text shows the conventional character of their connection. Following Bussy, Dmitriev not always sticks to the Latin original even in the main storylines. Even if he retains the canvas of the original medieval text, he supplements it with countless details: a portrait of a lover, a tear-drenched letter, mad passion. A similar transformation takes place with the Historia Calamitatum in the retelling made by Augustus von Kotzebue. In prefaces both authors designate their works as “female” reading. The interest in the story of two lovers is probably caused by the recent release of J.-J. Rousseau’s Julie, or the New Heloise. The choice of material, the nature of its adaptation, the appeal to women and the circumstances of the publication of Dmitriev’s translation and Kotzebue’s retelling demonstrate the commitment of these authors to sentimentalism, which explains their desire to cause tears in the eyes of their readers.

ملخص البحث:هذه دراسة تقابلية تحليلية  تبين  أهمية الأمانة  في الترجمة،  وذلك   بدراسة  ترجمة أنيس منصور للفصل الأول من كتاب  مايكل هارت  عالم الفلك والرياضيات الأمريكي "المائة: تقييم لأكثر مائة شخصية تأثيراً في التاريخ"  الخاص بالرسول محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، وقام الباحث بمقابلته  بنص أنيس منصور في كتابه "الخالدون مائة أعظمهم محمد رسول الله" الذي زعم إنه نقل ما قاله هارت دون تحريف.  وقد أجاب البحث عن أسئلة مفادها:ما الرسالة التي سعى مايكل هارت إلى توصيلها للناس  في الفصل الأول من كتابه المائة؟هل نقل  أنيس منصور  مضمون كلام  المؤلف الأصلي نقلاً أميناً صادقاً؟أيجب ترجمة مضمون النص الإنكليزي  كما هو أم  تحويره ليتطابق مع عقيدة القارئ المسلم؟ ما تأثير الترجمة غير الصادقة  في  المجتمع؟ وتبين أن أنيس منصور قد أخلَّ بمضمون النص الأصلي إخلالاً واضحاً، بتحريفه النص الأصلي؛ إذ أورده كأنه نص منقول عن كاتب إسلامي ملتزم يؤمن بالله ورسوله، ونتج عن ذلك تضليل المجتمع الإسلامي،  إذ أشاد  بصدق  مايكل هارت وإنصافه وموضوعيته رغم تشويهه الحقائق. وتظهر الدراسة أهمية الترجمة الصادقة للنص دون تحوير أو تكييف.الكلمات المفتاحية:  الأمانة في الترجمة- تضليل-المجتمع المسلم-الإخلال بالمضمون-منصفAbstractThis is a contrastive analytical    study   highlighting the significance of   validity   of translating the first chapter of Michael Hart’s Book “The 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History” as adapted by Anis Mansur in Arabic without any violation of the original message as he claims. The research answers the following question:  What message does Hart want to convey in the chapter one of his book," The 100"? Should the translation in Arabic be adapted to be commensurate with beliefs of the Muslim reader? What is the impact of invalid translation on society? Did Anis Mansur render the message of the original text faithfully? The  study shows that Hart believes that Islam is  a human  deed  and Muhammad is the founder of Islam and the author of the Quran. Mansur  did not render the message faithfully , but  he composed a gravely distorted message  revealing to the reader that Hart is  a truly dedicated Muslim  who  believes in Allah and His messenger. The study shows the importance of translating faithfully the original text without adaptation.Key words: Fidelity in translation; deception; the Muslim society; distortion of the message; fair.AbstrakKajian berbentukan alisa perbandingan yang menjelaskan kepentingan ketelusan dalam penterjemahan iaitu dengan mengkaji penterjemahan Anīs Manşūr terhadap Bab 1 daripada karya Michael Hart, ahli astronomi dan Matematik Amerika yang berjudul ‘100: Kedudukan Orang Paling Berpengaruh Dalam Sejarah’ yang menyentuh tentang Rasulullah Muhammad (SAW), yang didakwanya telah diterjemahkan daripada karya tersebut tanpa sebarang perubahan. Kajian menjawab beberapa persoalan: apakah perutusan yang ingin disampaikan penulis asal dalam Bab 1 daripada karyanya? Adakah Anīs Manşūr telah menterjemahkan kandungan sebenar karya penulis secara telus dan benar?Adakah wajardi terjemahkan kandungan teks Inggeris seperti asalnya atau diubah mengikut kesesuaian ‘aqīdah pembaca Bergama Islam? Apakah kesan penterjemahan tidak benar ke atas masyarakat? Jelas bahawa Anīs Manşūrtelah mengurangkan kandungan asal teks secara terang-terangan dengan mengubah kandungan asal di mana seolah-olah beliau mengambil teks tersebut daripada seorang penulis beragama Islam yang beriman kepada Allah dan RasulNya, akibatnya, ia telah menyesatkan masyarakat Islam dengan memuji  kebenaran serta objektiviti  Michael Hart walaupun dia telah memutarbelitkan fakta.  Kajian ini menunjukkan pentingnya penterjemahan yang benar bagi teks tanpa pengubahan atau penyesuaian.Kata kunci: ketelusan dalam penterjemahan – penyesatan – masyarakat beragama Islam – pengurangan kandungan – bersifat benar

This article on the example of specific language material analyzes the difficulties causes by the need to translate the text as a semantic whole, as well as outline the methods to avoid them. The texts is viewed from two perspectives – as a coherent fragment of speech, and as a speech of particular style. The author carries out comparative analysis of the forms of expression inherent to the texts of scientific and formal business styles in the Russian and English languages; highlights the elements relevant for translation; and classifies them based on nature of their correlation. The article also considers the problems of achieving coherence in translation of the text. The conclusion is made on the need for additional translation transformations substantiated not so much by discrepancies in the structure of two languages, but as by belonging of the original text to a particular speech style. The author lays emphasis on coherence and stylistic uniqueness as the elements relevant for translation of the text as a semantic whole. Such transformations as translation conversion, inter-level transformations, and omission are proposed for translating deverbal nouns in scientific and formal business texts. In the aspect of achieving coherence in translation, the author determines such problems as sentence-level topic model and preservation of co-reference. The article can be valuable for translators and in teaching translation techniques.

Исследование посвящено сравнительному анализу оригинального и переводных текстов калмыцкой народной сказки «Аю Чикт Авха Цецен хойр» («Аю Чикте и Авха Цецен») из репертуара сказителя М. Буринова. В процессе сличения исходного текста сказки на калмыцком языке (1960) и русскоязычного перевода М. Г. Ватагина (1964) отмечается характер разночтений и неточностей, обнаруженных в иноязычном нарративе в передаче смысла отдельных эпизодов сюжета, формульных выражений, словосочетаний, играющих важную роль в сказочном повествовании. Изучение фольклорного текста в его разноязычных воплощениях представляется актуальным в свете проблем, возникающих при взаимодействии текстов дистантных культур. Для передачи национальной специфики сказочной традиции требуется максимальная точность при переводе, имеющим важное значение для понимания исконного смысла оригинального текста. The study is devoted to a comparative analysis of the original and translated texts of the Kalmyk folk tale "Ayu Chikt Avkha Tsetsn khoir" ("Ayu Chikte and Avkha Tsetsen") from the repertoire of the narrator M. Burinov. In the process of comparing the original text of the fairy tale in the Kalmyk language (1960) and the Russian translation by M. G. Vatagina (1964) notes the nature of the discrepancies and inaccuracies found in the foreign language narrative in the transfer of the meaning of individual episodes of the plot, formula expressions, word combinations), which play an important role in the fairy tale narration. The study of a folklore text in its multilingual embodiments is relevant in the light of the problems that arise within the interaction of texts of distant cultures. To convey the national specifics of the fairy - tale tradition, maximum accuracy is required when translating episodes, formulas and some words that are important for understanding the original meaning of an original text.

The present article is a comparative analysis of negative politeness strategies in Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility and the Hungarian translation in Értelem és érzelem translated by Gerda Barcza. The aim of the article is to examine whether the politeness strategies applied by the characters in the source text remain the same type of politeness strategies in the target text as a result of the translation process. The article also endeavours to establish whether the politeness strategies employed by the characters in the Hungarian translation mirror the same character traits as in the original text. The article presents the parallel analysis of the negative politeness strategies in the source text and the target text used by several characters in the novel. The comparative analysis explores whether there are any changes in the characters’ linguistic behaviour as a result of the translation process. In order to show the differences between the source and the target text, we apply back translation, a translation that is as literal as possible to demonstrate the change of the politeness strategy. When no change is identified, no back translation is applied, only a detailed analysis and explanation is offered. The article presupposes that the politeness strategy in question will show only a slight change, therefore the characters will mirror the same traits as in the original text. The article ultimately aims to prove that the translation of the novel entitled Sense and Sensibility will not alter Jane Austen’s specific way of characterization.

This article offers the results of the investigation of repetitions in the modern Spanish language. To understand the role of the repetitions in a certain text, first of all, it’s necessary to determine whether they are immanent in the language or culture, and, therefore, unmarked, or, on the contrary, carry some charge: stylistic, rhythmic or pragmatic. Such differentiation is carried out by means of the analysis and synthesis of the theoretic material (А. Аlonso, E. А. Llorach, J. Nogeira, V. Iovenko, V. Vinogradov, etc.), contrastive and comparative analysis. The results show the redundancy of the Spanish language in comparison with Russian, which accounts for the numerous unmarked repetitions in Spanish. On the other hand, the frequent use of repetitions as stylistic, semantic or rhythmic device becomes evident too. For the analysis, we chose some official documents, characterized by the absence of stylistic devices, and some appellative and literary texts (poetry by A. Carvajal, a novel by S. Puertolas, etc.), which are apriori aimed at the form and pragmatic effect. This approach helps achieve the most objective conclusions concerning the nature of the repetitions in a text. We considered lexical and grammar repetitions, grammar, semantic and concept repetitions. Phonetic and lexical repetitions, as the basic stylistic devices, have not been subjected to analysis, as their markedness is evident. The results of the research, presented in the article, may be useful both for the people studying the Spanish language in order to speak it correctly and to understand the pragmatic function of repetition, and for translators to decide whether to follow the structure and rhythm of the text if repetitions are marked, or to omit them when they are in the original text, should they be immanent in the language and the culture.

As a method, hermeneutics play important role in the study of texts, languages, and all things related to the text, including the sacred text. This study is related to the text producer (author), the text itself, and the reader. In this article, the author tries to integrate hermeneutics of Latin American school of Jorge J. E. Gracia with the rules of interpretation of the Qur’an. The authors initiate describing the thought of Gracia using a descriptive-comparative analysis approach, then compare it with Qur’an studies, which in this case is compliance with the rules of interpretation of the Qur’an. Related to understanding term, Gracia put in one of understanding terminology of interpretation. There are three meanings of interpretation: first, the term ‘interpretation’ is synonymous with comprehension (understanding) of a person to the meaning of the text, the second on ‘interpretation’ is also often used to refer to the process or activity to develop an understanding of the text, and the third, interpretation that involves three factors. 1) the interpreted text or called interpretandum, 2) The interpreter, and, 3) the comments added to the original text, or called interpretans. Those three awareness are closely related to the interpreted text, or if it is integrated with the rules of interpretation will result the integration of hermeneutics with the following principles: First, the historical functions in line with the asbāb an-nuzul; second, meaning function with linguistic rules and the Qur’an; fourth, implicative function, reviewing the patterns of linkages with other scientific text. Hermeneutika menduduki posisi penting dalam kajian teks, bahasa, dan segala hal yang berkaitan dengan teks, termasuk teks suci. Kajian ini berhubungan dengan produsen teks (author), teks itu sendiri, dan pembaca (reader). Dalam artikel ini, penulis mencoba menawarkan sebuah integrasi hermeneutika mazhab Amerika Latin ala Jorge J. E. Gracia dengan kaidah-kaidah penafsiran al-Qur’an. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan analisa deskriptif-komparatif, penulis memulai mendeskripsikan pemikiran Gracia, kemudian mengomparasikan dengan kajian qur’anic studies, yang dalam hal ini adalah kesesuaiannya dengan kaidah-kaidah penafsiran al-Qur’an. Dalam kaitannya dengan pemahaman, Gracia memasukkan term understanding dalam salah satu terminologi interpretasi. Setidaknya ada tiga pengertian dari interpretasi; pertama, istilah ‘interpretasi’ itu sama artinya dengan pemahaman (understanding) yang dimiliki seseorang terhadap makna teks; kedua, ‘interpretasi’ yang juga sering digunakan untuk merujuk proses atau aktivitas mengembangkan pemahaman dari teks; dan ketiga, interpretasi dalam pengertian ketiga melibatkan tiga faktor. 1) teks yang ditafsirkan, atau disebut interpretandum, 2) Penafsir itu sendiri, dan; 3) komentar yang ditambahkan ke dalam teks aslinya, atau disebut interpretans. Secara spesifik tiga kesadaran tersebut erat kaitannya dengan teks yang sedang ditafsirkan. Jika diintegrasikan dengan kaidah-kaidah penafsiran akan menghasilkan integrasi hermeneutika dengan kaidah-kaidah sebagai berikut: Pertama, fungsi historis (historical function) sejalan dengan asbāb an-nuzul; kedua, fungsi makna (meaning function) dengan kaidah kebahasaan al-Qur’an dan; keempat, fungsi implikatif (implicative function) meninjau pola keterkaitan teks dengan keilmuan lainnya.
