COVID-19 as a global pandemic affects various sectors, including education. This study describes students' perceptions of using e-learning in mathematics distance learning during a COVID-19 pandemic. This type of study is descriptive qualitative research. This study involved four students from the Mathematics Education Study Program, Tarbiyah, IAIN Takengon. The researcher gathered the data in this study via an interview process. The interview was conducted by phone since there was a social restriction regulation from the local government. This study states that students experience obstacles while learning mathematics using e-learning during a COVID-19 pandemic. These barriers are classified into three barriers: internal barriers, external barriers, and cross internal and external barriers. Nevertheless, the positive effects are also felt as students have independent learning, confidence while studying, motivation, ease, and flexibility in accessing the e-learning and learning contents. Furthermore, this study recommends that the e-learning design match the learning objectives to minimize the barriers.

Lecturer is educators who are under the auspices of higher education institutions. one of the duties of the lecturer is to guide and help develop the potential of students so they can complete their studies. Likewise, the lecturer in the Mathematics Education study program at one of the universities in Langsa city was appointed as an academic advisor (PA). but there are some obstacles that are felt by PA lecturers, such as the absence of a guidance manual, lack of understanding of technology, students consult only once in one semester, and some students only ask for signatures to fill Study Plan Cards (KRS) and Study Results Cards (KHS ) manual. However, students also have other perceptions, according to the interview results, it is known that PA lecturers are only needed to sign the KRS and KHS, some PA lecturers are difficult to find, some PA lecturers do not have time to consult, PA lecturers do not direct courses in the following semester. so the purpose of this study was to express student satisfaction in mathematics education in terms of PA lecturer services. The approach of this research is a quantitative approach. The research sample was 61 mathematics education students with systematic sampling. For data collection techniques using questionnaires and data analysis techniques using simple regression followed by the -F test. The results showed that the level of student satisfaction in terms of PA lecturer services was in a sufficient category, so it can be concluded that there was a significant contribution between the services of PA lecturers to the satisfaction of mathematics education students.

Linear Programming is a course under the scope of algebra that must be mastered by mathematics education students. The low ability to solve linear programming problems can affect student performance when they become a teacher. This study aims to analyze the need for developing learning videos in Linear Programming courses for students of the Mathematics Education Study Program. The method used is development research which consists of Preliminary Analysis, Product Prototype, and Assessment. The research subjects were 30 students in the 7th semester of mathematics education and had attended online Linear Programming lectures in the previous semester. Data were collected by conducting written tests, questionnaires, and interviews and analyzed quantitatively descriptively. The results of the written test analysis showed that the students' ability to solve linear programming problems was low. Based on interviews, it is also known that students are not enough just to learn through modules and virtual meetings. Students tend to need learning videos/records to repeat explanations when studying the material independently. Therefore, there is a great need for learning videos that can optimize online learning of Linear Programming courses.

When students solve an algebra problem, students try to deduce the facts in the problem. This step is imperative, students can draw conclusions from the facts and devise a plan to solve the problem. Drawing conclusions from facts is called reasoning. Some kinds of reasoning are deductive, inductive, and abductive. This article explores the characteristics of some types of abductive reasoning used by mathematics education students in problem-solving related to using facts on the problems. Fifty-eight students were asked to solve an algebra problem. It was found that the student’s solutions could be grouped into four types of abductive reasoning. From each group, one student was interviewed to have more details on the types. First, the creative conjectures type, the students can solve the problems and develop new ideas related to the problems; second, fact optimization type, the students make conjecture of the answer, then confirm it by deductive reasoning; third, factual error type, students use facts outside of the problems to solve it, but the facts are wrong; and fourth,  mistaken fact type, the students assume the questionable thing as a given fact. Therefore, teachers should encourage the students to use creative conjectures and fact optimization when learning mathematics.
