Background: Acharacteristic feature of cancer is, among other things, that even after successful oncological treatment, the patient cannot close this chapter of life and the experience of being acancer patient. In oncology there is no unambiguous definition of apatient as ahealthy person. Methods: The study covered agroup of 20 people. In the con- ducted tests the diagnostic survey method was introduced. The technique of individual in-depth interviews was used. The re- spondent could fully express his or her own feelings, emotions, thoughts and experiences. Results. The respondents stated that positive emotions ap- peared with the completion of treatment, but indicated that the feelings were not related to the sense of healing but only to the completion of tiring therapeutic procedures. Some respondents complained about the feeling of chronic fatigue. Fatigue was not only related to the physical sphere, although everyone con- firmed that the side effects of the therapy persisted for some time. The respondents paid more attention to mental fatigue, which had various forms, e.g.: anxiety about possible relapse; functional losses; feeling of loss caused by radical treatment. Out of 20 respondents, 4 persons indicated aloss of health, es- pecially the sense of joy and happiness, self-esteem, self-con- fidence, social contacts, family and time. Conclusions: The research group consisted of 20 respondents, which limits the possibility of formulating generalized con- clusions, but indicates various directions of possible improve- ment and, most importantly, shows how the thinking about can- cer can be changed.

The theory of the executive activity of a personality and the ability to determine its correlates are analyzed. High efficiency executive activity is considered as a predictor of a high quality of life and professional activity of an individual. The results of the study of the individual psychological properties of the personality associated with the characteristics of performing activities are presented. A combination of properties is highlighted: irritability, sociability, extraversion, which positively affect the type of execution. They form a triad closely associated with all the properties of executive activities. Some personality properties that inhibit the development of characteristics necessary for effectiveness are identified. Aggressiveness and high emotional lability are characteristic of students with low responsibility. According to the research results, mutually exclusive properties are organization and openness. The definition of determinants and correlates of performing activities opens up opportunities for psychologists and educators to create spaces for the development of a highly effective personality. Executive activity is a system construct. Understanding its structure allows us to see its flexibility and form individual trajectories of learning and personality development.

In order to conceptually define quality of life (QOL) in dementia, the literature on QOL in the elderly population, in chronic disease and in dementia was studied. Dementia is a progressive, age-related, chronic condition and to avoid omissions within the dementia-specific concept of QOL, a broad orientation was the preferred approach in this literature study. Adaptation is a major outcome in studies investigating interventions aimed at improving QOL in chronic conditions, but to date, it has not been used in the definition of QOL. It is argued that adaptation is an important indication of QOL in people with chronic diseases and therefore also in dementia. Some crucial issues in assessing dementia-related QOL that are relevant to clarify the continuing debate on whether QOL, particularly in dementia, can be measured at all, are discussed. Then the following conceptual definition is offered: dementia-specific QOL is the multidimensional evaluation of the person–environment system of the individual, in terms of adaptation to the perceived consequences of the dementia.

Healthcare institutions are organizations with a complex structure where there is a high work stress and it is of utmost importance that services are provided without errors in this complexity. Nowadays, when the hospital management becomes increasingly complex, hospital managers are in a position that influences the success of the hospitals the most. While this situation necessitates the managers to use their time in a more rational and efficient manner, giving a senseless workload to the managers would surely negatively affect the individual and organizational productivity (Karsavuran, 2014). In other words, exposure of the healthcare professionals to mobbing in the professional life causes depressive symptoms to arise, this situation leading to the individual negatively evaluating the quality of his life. As a result, decrease in the job satisfaction of the individual, low performance and reluctance towards the job occur (Yavuzer and Civilidag, 2014).   Therefore, it is proposed to clarify the arrangements that prevent managers from applying psychological abuse to their subordinates when determining the superior-subordinate relationships (Yıldız et al., 2013). In this study the titles will include definition of mobbing in health sector, results of mobbing.

Accessing, comprehending, and using information to make informed decisions and improve one’s overall health or well-being are the foci of health literacy. The concept of behavioral health was introduced in the early 1980s and, since then, it has influenced new ideas (e.g., behavioral health literacy and integrated behavioral health care) and gained research and public attention. My aim is to provide an overview of definitions (i.e., health literacy, mental health literacy, and behavioral health literacy) and their connection to each other. I propose an expanded and honed definition of behavioral health literacy to enhance the behavioral health literacy and well-being of the individual as well as the community, with the hope of reducing both physical and behavioral negative health conditions and improving overall quality of life for all people.

The concept of well being has become the main criterion to assess quality of life in contemporary society. Individual well-being describes the individual quality of life, while social well-being refers to quality of life in a society. Given that well-being has a multitude of dimensions, a unique definition of it is elusive to scholars. In this article social well-being is conceptualised as a dynamic process within the context set by social integration as one?s relationship to society and the community. This includes the quality of interaction between the individual and society and one?s ?social actualisation? understood as the realisation of one?s social capacities. Social actualisation also involves one?s ability to influence social processes and to benefit from social cohesion, which consists, in any society, of the quality, organisation and functioning of the social world. Hence the ability to impact society is an integral part of individual well being. This paper suggests that philosophical practice as a new paradigm in the humanities holds out promise for the improvement of both individual and social well-being.

The quality of life (QOL) is a subjective matter that has been diversely defined by scholars. Since 1930s researchers from various fields have expressed interests in the definition of QOL, including investigating and measuring QOL using different methods. Over the last four decades, Malaysia has made remarkable achievements regarding its economic growth as well as its socio-economic development. Numerous factors have been identified that may affect the quality of life of people according to their personal preferences. For example, the quality of the individual work as an engineer may differ with the quality of life of an individual work as a teacher. Nevertheless, how the individual itself measures the quality of life can be different between each other. Definitions of quality of life are as numerous and inconsistent as the methods of assessing it. This paper highlights the perception towards the quality of life for the community living in the state of Selangor. The objectives of this research are to identify the current living condition in Selangor and the level of satisfaction towards the living condition in the State. Data was obtaine through a questionnaire survey of 500 respondents living in Selangor. The outcome of the study indicates that the community in Selangor measured their quality of life differently based on their socio-economic background. Also, several indicators and action were highlighted by the community to be considered as part of the recommendation to improve the current living standard towards a better quality of life in Selangor.

We identify features of the design and implementation of opportunities to improve the quality of self-realization and cooperation of the individual in the sports and educational environment. The sports and educational environment is determined by the model of realization of the productive solution of the tasks of development, self-realization and cooperation of the individual through “sports”, “education”, and “science”. We define the basic concepts and models that are connected with the functioning of the sports and educational environment, i. e. definition of the concepts of “sports educational environment”, “design and implementation of opportunities for quality improvement of self-realization and individual cooperation in the sports educational envi-ronment”, “models for quality improvement of self-realization and individual cooperation in the sports educational environment”, “functions for quality improvement of self-realization and indi-vidual cooperation in the sports and educational environment”, “principles of quality improvement of self-realization and individual cooperation in the sports and educational environment”, “technology to quality improve of self-realization and cooperation of the individual in the sports and educational environment”, “pedagogical conditions for quality improvement of self-realization and cooperation of the person in the sports and educational environment”; the models, functions, principles, goals and objectives of quality improvement of self-realization and individual cooperation in the sports and educational environment. We detail the practice of theorizing the quality improvement of self-realization and individual cooperation in the sports and educational environment. We highlight the pedagogical conditions for improvement the quality of self-realization and individual cooperation in the sports and educational environment. We prove the perspectives of studying and measuring the quality of the theorization of self-realization and individual cooperation in the sports and educational environment.

Abstract Objective The aim of this work is to define competencies and entrustable professional activities (EPAs) to be imparted within the framework of surgical neuro-oncological residency and fellowship training as well as the education of medical students. Improved and specific training in surgical neuro-oncology promotes neuro-oncological expertise, quality of surgical neuro-oncological treatment and may also contribute to further development of neuro-oncological techniques and treatment protocols. Specific curricula for a surgical neuro-oncologic education have not yet been established. Methods We used a consensus-building approach to propose skills, competencies and EPAs to be imparted within the framework of surgical neuro-oncological training. We developed competencies and EPAs suitable for training in surgical neuro-oncology. Result In total, 70 competencies and 8 EPAs for training in surgical neuro-oncology were proposed. EPAs were defined for the management of the deteriorating patient, the management of patients with the diagnosis of a brain tumour, tumour-based resections, function-based surgical resections of brain tumours, the postoperative management of patients, the collaboration as a member of an interdisciplinary and/or -professional team and finally for the care of palliative and dying patients and their families. Conclusions and Relevance The present work should subsequently initiate a discussion about the proposed competencies and EPAs and, together with the following discussion, contribute to the creation of new training concepts in surgical neuro-oncology.

Background: The objective of this study was to find what undergraduate medical students and teaching faculty perceive success to be. Methods: A descriptive phenomenological qualitative study was designed and conducted on faculty and medical students at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Medical College, Mauritius. NVivo 12 (Windows) Plus software was implemented for data analysis and thematic analysis was performed. Results: The codes/nodes namely being: Satisfaction, Accomplishment, Actions, Motivations, Extrinsic Factors and Intrinsic Factors were identified in the transcribed data. Satisfaction was described as the positive emotions and notions intimately related as well as synonymously associated with success. Accomplishment as the attainment and fulfilment of any physical, mental, emotional, social, occupational, personal goal or desire by an individual. Actions was the arsenal of physical processes, acts of planning, goal setting or forethinking exercised by the individual. Motivations was the drive to attain the preset goal or notion be it positive or negative, applies to factors that enable a subject to strive forwards. Extrinsic Factors were the external determinants and definition of success perceived by the subject. Intrinsic Factors were the subject’s internal organic, comprehension and definition of success. The themes generated were: Products of Success, Mechanisms of Success and Concepts of success. Conclusion: A tangible demarcation is noticeable between the preconceived general impression of success and the vast multifactorial cohort of intrinsic and extrinsic factors coupled to the highly emotional aspects which were brought forth.

<p>The subject of scientific reflection is the contemplation and action as ways of the human attitude to the world, existence, substantiated and accomplished in the ontology of human life by I.&nbsp;S.&nbsp;Turgenev, thinker and artist. The presence of a &ldquo;thought&rdquo; and &ldquo;will&rdquo;, consciousness and action, knowledge and transformation is considered by the writer as a fundamental characteristic of the human way of existence, which becomes the semantic core of the philosophical and anthropological concept of the article-speech &ldquo;Hamlet and Don Quixote&rdquo; (1860), fundamental for the research on Turgenev's creative work at the level of historical poetics. The activity approach to the person, strengthened at the turn of the classical and non-classical stages of development of philosophical thought,&nbsp;&mdash; the time of formation of Turgenev&rsquo;s world outlook, explains converging of the points of opposite &ldquo;native types&rdquo;, their transition from the ideal existence into the real one, their equally weighted opposition to the &ldquo;evil and lies&rdquo;. As a result, according to Turgenev's view the images of Hamlet and Don Quixote come together on the ground of &ldquo;worship to the Truth&rdquo; and the &ldquo;idea of high merits&rdquo; of the individual, in which the human &ldquo;nature&rdquo; and &ldquo;quintessence&rdquo; are objectified. Therefore, the analysis of the hamletian and don-quijotian types could be carried out by Turgenev just within the universal socio-cosmic lay of the interrelation of the opposites inherent in centripetal and centrifugal natural forces and their tendency to synthesis. The &ldquo;tragic aspect of human life&rdquo; engendered by the inaccessibility of such synthesis may be overcome by means of comprehension of the Truth, the &ldquo;true meaning of nature&rdquo;. Moreover, Turgenev&rsquo;s ontological idea of the &ldquo;Conciliation and absorbtion of everything existing in the other&rdquo;, argued at the attitudinal and aesthetic levels, is the basis for the definition of the meaning of human life. This meaning is found in the balance between the content of all human life and the world, society, other people in the name of the &ldquo;ideal&rdquo;, establishment of the truth and justice. Hence, contemplation and action as forms of a morally responsible attitude to life in Turgenev&rsquo;s artistic ontology are directly related to the problem of &ldquo;high levels&rdquo; and quality of human existence.</p>
