The research was conducted in SMK LuhurBaladikain West Bandung. Reading has become the important instrument in education especially in teaching and learning. Reading comprehension is the activity of constructing the meaning of a reading that has important funding in the process of education and the success of students in learning. The research aims to find out the benefit of using scanning technique, and the specific target to be achieved in this research is to prove scanning technique to improve students’ reading comprehension. Output required of this research as a scientific publication in journal that have ISSN.  The design of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). From the result of pre-test, we found that students’ reading comprehension is under average, the score of pre-test is 59.00. After the implementation of scanning technique in every cycle, the students’ reading comprehension were getting better, it can be seen in average of post-test score cycle 1 was 68.5 and cycle 2 was 79.00. It can be concluded that scanning technique can improve students’ reading comprehension.

This study is a classroom action research. The general objective of this study is improving students’ writing skill through outdoor activity. While the specific objective of this research are (1) whether or not outdoor activity can increase the students’ writing content of descriptive text of the second year of Mts Sudirman Kopeng  Getasan. (2) it describe whether the outdoor activity can improve  the students’ writing skill in developing paragraph. This classroom action research was conducted at MTs Sudirman Getasan. The procedure of the research consisted of planning, action, observing, and reflection. The observation during the process of English teaching and learning was helped by the collaborator. In this research,  the writer acted as a practitioner. The test was in the form of pre-test and post –test conducted in cycle 1, cycle 2, and cycle 3. The research result were: (1)  using outdoor activity as a method can improve students’ writing skill, its proved with the student’s improvement score. The mean score of the pre-test of the students was 57 (very poor) and the mean score of the post- test 70 (good). The mean of the post-Test is higher than the mean of the pre-Test ( 64.53>56.56), the mean of the post-test in cycle 2  is higher than mean of cycle 1 (70.59>64.53) and the mean of the post –Test cycle 3 is higher than cycle 2 (74.56>70.59). the proven result of the implementation was 75%. (2) The effectiveness of using outdoor activity in improving students’ writing skill is proved from the t-test and t-table in cycle 1 (9.67>2.042) which the score of t-test was higher than the score of t-table and the result of t-test and t-table in cycle 3 (15.11>2.042) also showed that the score of t-table.

Abstrak Penelitian ini adalah kajian tentang efektivitas penggunaan media sosial, yaitu facebook, untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menulis deskriptif berbahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Data dikumpulkan dari observasi, dokumentasi, dan tes. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa: 1) proses pembelajaran menulis deskriptif bahasa Inggris menggunakan facebook lebih bervariasi dan menyenangkan, dan 2) ada peningkatan kemampuan menulis deskriptif bahasa Inggris yang ditandai dari peningkatan hasil tes. Hal tersebut terlihat pada hasil nilai rata-rata pre-test sebesar 66.25, dan hasil rata-rata post-test sebesar 80.15. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa facebook dapat dimanfaatkan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Abstract This research is a study of the effectiveness of using social media, namely Facebook, to improve students' ability to write descriptive English. This research is a classroom action research. The data are taken from observation, documentation, and tests. The results of data analysis show that: 1) the process of learning descriptive English using Facebook is more varied and enjoyable, and 2) there is an increase in students’ ability to write descriptive English which is marked by an increase in test results. This can be seen from the average of the pre-test and pos-test score, which is 66.25 and 80.15 respectively. Thus it can be concluded that Facebook can be used to improve learning outcomes in learning English.

The purpose of this research is to find does the animation movies can improve students’ skill and ability in writing narrative text at SMP Swasta TD Pardede Foundation at VII grade in academic year2018/2019. In this research, the researchers used classroom action research and was conducted in two cycles. Each cycles consist of four steps, there are: planning, action, observing and reflecting. This research used quantitative and qualitative research to collect the data, researchers conduct tests. The tests are pre-test and post-test.The result showed that the teaching students’ skill in writing using video can improve students’ skill in writing narrative text. An increase in mean scores indicates that there is an increase in students’ skill.  The student’s pre-test score was 63.69; it increased to 72.50 in the first post-test up to 78.02 in the second post-test. From the result of the study, it can be concluded that teaching writing skill using animation videos can improve students’ writing skill. Keyword: narrative, animation movie

AbstractThe main objective of this research is to improve the eighth graders’ reading comprehension through Jigsaw technique at SMP 1 PSKD. This research is a classroom action research in two cycles. The research was done on April 12th, 2016 until May 24th, 2016. The subject of the research was the students of VIII class at SMP 1 PSKD. There were 27 students (13 males and 14 females). The instruments of the test are pre-test and post-test. The non instruments test are observation sheets, interview, and researcher’s diary notes. The improvement of the eighth graders’ reading comprehension scores can be seen from the result of the pre-test and post-test. The average score of the students in the pre-test was 49.03 points and in cycle 1 the average score of the students was 65.78 points. So the increase between the two tests was 16.75 or 34.16%. In the cycle 2, the average of students’ score was 75.85 points. The result of the posttest 1 was 65.78 points, so the increase from post-test 1 in cycle 1 to post-test 2 in cycle 2 was 10.07 points or 15.75%. The improvement from pre-test to post-test 2 was 54.70%. In addition to the score increase, jigsaw technique can improve the students’ enthusiasm in learning reading comprehension. It can be seen from the result of the interview. The participants were interested in learning reading comprehension through jigsaw technique because jigsaw technique helped them in comprehending the text. This research was also supported by the result of researcher’s diary notes. The researcher’s diary notes shows that there were a positive changed from cycle 1 to cycle 2. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that jigsaw technique could improve the eighth graders’ reading comprehension at SMP 1 PSKD.   Keywords: jigsaw technique, reading comprehension

This classroom action research is motivated learning conditions IPS in SMP Negeri 3 Belawang particular class VIII A shows the very low interest in learning and learning outcomes that have not reached the minimum standard of thoroughness is 68. The exact cause is lack of teaching and learning strategies are applied, thus requiring their approach and a suitable method in learning. The hypothesis in this study is action If implemented cooperative learning model tife Scrambel, then the interest and student learning outcomes VIIIA class in SMPN 3 Belawang will increase. The method used in this research is a classroom action research method, commonly known by the term Classroom Action Research, which is a scrutiny of the learning activities in the form of an action, which is deliberately raised and occur within a class together. Based on the first cycle there is an increase in total score of 2.00 out of a score of 75.57 into a 77.57 score in spite of the increase in the average score of the class in the first cycle small however, can be overcome with improved learning outcomes in the second cycle is counted from 75.21 into 80.15 as well as the classical completeness also increased from post test cycle 1 at 78.57 percent and the post test cycle 2 at 82.14 percent.Keywords: Interest, Learning Outcomes, IPS, Model Scrambel

This research aimed at finding out whether Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) strategy improves students’ reading comprehension or not. The research was a classroom action research. The data collected through quantitative and qualitative approach. Quantitative data was gained from the result of pre-test and post-test from reading test. Meanwhile, qualitative data was gained from the result of observation sheets toward students’ and teachers’ activity. The instruments used by the researcher were test and observation sheet. The finding of the research showed that the strategy Listen-Read-Discuss improve the students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text. The improvement can be seen from the mean score of students from pre-test, post-test one, and post-test two. The mean score of pre-tests was 64.46 (50%), there were eight students who passed the minimum passing grade, in the post-test one, 75.35 (67%), twelve students passed the minimum passing grade and in the post-test two, 82.14 (89%), twenty-five students passed the minimum passing grade (KKM).

This study focused to improve Students’ Vocabulary Achievement by Applying Anagram PlusFlashcards. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of thisstudy was students in class VII-7 of SMP Negeri 7 Pematangsiantar. There were 32 studentstaken as the subject. The instrument for collecting data were the test for vocabulary and diarynotes, questionnaire sheets, observation sheet, and interview for process of teaching andlearning vocabulary. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis. The result of the researchshowed that the mean of students’ score in pre-test was 56.41, the mean of students’ score inpost-test I was 69.22. The mean of students’ score in post-test II was 76.72. There wereimprovement of students’ achievement from 56.41-76.72 about 20.31 point and that score(76.72) was excelled the indicator (75). Based on diary notes, questionnaire sheets,observation sheet, and interview, it found that teaching and learning process ran well.Students were active, cooperative, enthusiastic and interested in learning vocabulary.There were 16 students (50%) agreed that the students active in learning process, 20students (62.5%) were interested, 20 students (62.5%) were enthusiastic and 19 students(59.37%) were agreed that strategy of learning was effective. It can be concluded that theapplication of anagram plus flashcards had successfully improved the students’ vocabularyachievement at the SMP Negeri 7 Pematangsiantar.

Vocabulary is basic part of language when we learn english. Nowadays, introducing english vocabulary can be started in the kindergarten school. In early age, the young learners are easy to accept the language that has been given by teacher. Therefore, young learner in early age (approximately 3-4 years old) should get stimulation and learn English vocabulary in order to get preparation to study in higher level. This research was conducted to increase the young learners’ vocabulary mastery in b class of tungga dewi day-care. The classroom action research was implemented in this research. The teaching technique using songs were implemented through teaching and learning activities in two cycles of classroom action research. Each cycle of classroom action research was planning, acting, observing and reflecting. In this research, instruments to gather the data were field notes and observation checklists. Field notes and observation checklists were applied to take the data during the teaching learning process. The data would be analysed in order to solve the problems. Songs were applied in the activities of the first cycle of classrooms action research. The result of the first cycle was not quiet successful because the average of post –test score in cycle one was 37,8. Therefore, the teacher-researcher conducted the second cycle. The second cycle was conducted based on the result of the first cycle. Songs were combined the body movement in second cycle of the classroom action research. The result of the second cycle was successful because the average of post-test score was 77,78. As a conclusion, it can be concluded that the implementation of english songs could help to increase the young learner’s vocabulary mastery.

The problems of this research is the students are difficult to find the information from the text. The objective of this class action research are: (1) to know how far Think-aloud strategy can improve the students’ reading comprehension and; (2) to know how the process of teaching reading by using Think-Aloud Strategy at eleventh grade of SMK Kartikatama Metro in academic year 2017/2018. The method of this research is clasroom action research that consist of two cycles. The subject of this research is the students of Accounting Class eleventh grade of SMK Kartikatama Metro that consist of 30 students. The research instruments in this research are observation, interview sheets, and test. The result of the data analysis in this research are pre-test until post-test 2 that the average of pre-test was 60.93. Then, the implementation of think-aloud strategy in teaching, there is an increase of 3.65 become 64.58. Then, in the cycle 2 the average of students’ score is 80.17. Based on the teaching and learning activities, pre-test until post-test 2 are increased. From the cycle 2, It is about 80 % of the students can achieve the minimum passing criteria (KKM), so this research is success. The conclusion is the implementation of  think-aloud strategy can improve students' reading comprehension.

<div class="page" title="Page 1"><div class="layoutArea"><div class="column"><p><span>This article is a report of a classroom action research that aimed at finding out how KWL strategy could be implemented effectively in improving the </span><span>students’ </span><span>reading comprehension, to what extent KWL strategy could improve </span><span>the students’ reading comprehension, and how the classroom situation was when </span><span>KWL strategy was implemented in the reading class. The classroom action research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle comprised planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The qualitative data were collected through observations, questionnaires, and interviews while the quantitative data were obtained through tests. Some findings are obtained in this research. The first finding is that KWL strategy could be implemented effectively because of the </span><span>students’ ability to use their prior knowledge </span><span>and activate their critical thinking to predict the text, all of which caused them to have better performance in comprehending the text. An effective way of implementing KWL strategy could be developed and applied due to a) a clear explanation of KWL steps to the students, b) the use of new and familiar topics, c) the use of visual representations of the assigned text, d) the use of group discussions and individual activities, and </span><span>e) the teacher’s guidance during the teaching and learning process. </span><span>The second finding is that </span><span>the strategy could improve the students’ reading comprehension in </span><span>their skills of finding main ideas, explicit information, implicit information, and word references, and understanding word meanings based on the context. The third finding is that the strategy promoted a better classroom situation.</span></p></div></div></div>
