This article examines linguistic framing of Medellin as the city of the musical genre reggaeton in online media discourse, drawing on Fillmore’s frame semantics theory (1977). The most salient frames applied towards Medellin are those of centrality, home, and music, whereby the city’s global significance as a musical hub is emphasized through the terms belonging to the frame of world. The use of components from the frames of crime and drugs suggests that the drug-related past of Medellin is integrated into its new cultural profile. Another part of the new Medellin brand are the city’s residents themselves, who are credited with supporting local reggaetonero/as, and are typically referred to with overtly positive vocabulary from the frames of love, help, and home. Although some texts evoke negative stereotypes about reggaeton, the media mostly present the Medellin reggaeton scene through the frames of success, power, and business.

Wikis are digital community spaces that have attracted high traffic but virtually no study as socio-communicational platforms. These platforms offer individuals the possibility of engaging in unique writing activities by defining a distinct material configuration and imposing a protocol of enunciation. Wikis are platforms developed through the contributions of anyone, and constitute collaborative encyclopedias dedicated to a cultural topic. This article more specifically examines the Harry Potter Wiki, which is devoted to the literary universe of J.K. Rowling. Our semio-communicational analysis concerns the structure, the authors and the contents of the French and Anglo-Saxon versions of this wiki. First we explore the writing space in which get involved cultural objects that compose the world of Harry Potter. The semiotic content of this apparently unlimited space reveals an unpublished scriptural universe that articulates fictional regime and documentary regime. This tension brings us secondly to detail the space of normalization that configure these wikis. This principle of standardization is updated, both through the writing standards they define and by the pyramidal structure of intellectual authority that manage them. Our study seeks to qualify the "invisible borders" set up by the media device wiki in order to define these singular writing objects between documentary simulacra and documented fictions.

This papper is a comparation study of  - two representations of one news in online media discourse. The focus of the study is the news on one recent world event: the US Embassy move to Jerusalem. Language in public affairs media—such as news—discusses three elements: representations, identities and relations (Fairlough, 1995). This study analyzes the three elements by comparing the same news event reported by two sources: Associated Press and Aljazeera news agencies in three sets of questions: (1) how is the world represented? (2) what identities are set up for those involved in the programme or story? and (3) what relationships are set up between those involved? The study found striking similarities and differences in the linguistic elements of the two texts. The similarity may be due to adoption of one text by one news agency from the other. Yet the differences may indicate differing representations of the elements in the two news.

This paper will parse and explain the role of media in the Election of the Governor of South Sumatra in 2018. The media to be examined is the local media namely the Harian Sumatera Ekspres (Sumeks). Harian Sumeks is one of the media that dominates readers in south sumtra province. With such a position, of course, Sumeks has influence in building opinions in society.             The theory used in this study is the framing theory of Zhongdan Pan and Gerald M.Kosicki models, This theory in analyzing data operationalizes the four structural dimensions of news teks as a framing device, namely syntax, script, thematic, and rhetorical. This research is a qualitative study using documents as the main data source.             The results of this study indicate that Sumeks described the four participants of the South Sumtra Governor Election in 2018 as well. If at first galnce, it will be difficult to find out which candidate pairs are more inclined. However, when using framing theory, it can be seen that Sumeks tries to emphasize Dodi-Giri more than other pairs. In addition, it can be concluded that the way Sumeks displays each candidate get a good response from each candidate team because the framing that is built seems to favor all candidates so that this impacts on the number of incoming advertisements

It has now become the language of wider communication which is now spoken by large number of people all over the world. It is influenced by many factors such as class, society, developments in science and technology etc. However the major influence on English language is and has been the media.
