SMK has the challenge of implementing meaningful distance learning using animated video media according to student perceptions. However, students' perceptions about the use of animated video media in distance learning are not yet known. This study aims to measure the perceptions of Mechanical Engineering Vocational School students about the use of animated video media for the development of skills to operate a lathe in distance learning. The research subjects consisted of 73 students of Mechanical Engineering Vocational Schools. The data collection technique used a questionnaire. The media feasibility test was carried out by two material and media experts. This study used quantitative descriptive statistical analysis methods, t-test, and One-Way ANOVA with post-hoc advanced tests, namely the Dunnett C and Tukey test to determine differences in students' perceptions of assessment. The results of the media feasibility validation by material experts were 81.875% and media experts 90.625% were in the very feasible category. The assessment of the feasibility of the media by students was 83.714% in the very feasible category. So, that there was no significant difference between male and female students in the assessment of distance learning animated video media.

Flooding that occurred recently has become a very detrimental disaster for the victims. This flood disaster is still a concern for people in Indonesia. Flood mitigation needs to be done to all levels of society, especially vocational school students. Vocational school students must be responsive in any situation because, after graduation, they are ready to work. Disaster mitigation is essential to be included in learning at school. Disaster mitigation is also related to the Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) to always be ready and alert. In measuring vocational school students' understanding of disaster mitigation, initial research was carried out related to disaster mitigation and HOTS. The research subjects were 100 students of Vocational School in Jakarta who were randomly selected. This study used Google Forms as a data collection technique. The results showed that the students’ HOTS score was still low. The results showed that the Students’ HOTS scores on flooding were still low. The average score obtained by the whole students was 43.34. The male students obtained 30.27, and the female students obtained 45.97. All schools in Indonesia should implement early mitigation education that is integrated with HOTS learning.

The use of E-Learning applications is currently very much needed in overcoming gaps in face-to-face lectures along with technological developments and learning gaps during the pandemic. This study aims to develop an Android-based ISpring Suite 8.0 learning application for Mechanical Engineering Education Students as one of the E-Learning facilities in the Learning Outcomes Assessment course. In addition, this study aims to determine the feasibility of applications and student perceptions of the applications being developed. This study uses research and development methods. The results of the feasibility test data for the learning application from media experts can be obtained by a percentage of the feasibility of 91.4% in the very feasible category, for the results from material experts of 76.9% in the feasible category, for the results of the respondent's assessment of the product trial by 86% in the category. very feasible, and the results of the respondents' assessment on the usage test were 83.8% in the very feasible category. In addition, students' perceptions and expectations of the Mobile Learning application in the Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program amounted to 80%. Based on the criteria of Steer (1993), thus, the level of satisfaction is between (80% - 100%) which means high satisfaction, so the quality of the Mobile Learning application is perceived by users to achieve high satisfaction.

This research aimed to analyse the feasibility of the use of maquette and the effectiveness of maquette in improving students’ critical thinking ability. The research model employed was the development research model developed by Borg & Gall. The research subjects were third graders. The testing was divided into preliminary field testing, main field testing, and operational field testing. The analysis of the medium feasibility was based on the assessment by media experts, the assessment by subject matter experts, students’ response, and teacher’s response. The analysis of maquette effectiveness was carried out using a t-test (two independent samples) to figure out the difference and gain score of the experimental class for the purpose of identifying the improvement after the use of maquette. In the feasibility analysis, a score of 88 in the category “feasible” was gained from the assessment by a media expert and a score of 85 in the category “highly feasible” was gained from the assessment by a subject matter expert. From the preliminary field testing, scores of 60.5 and 65 in the category “highly feasible” were gained for the students’ response and teacher’s response, respectively. Meanwhile, from the main field testing, scores of 56.1 and 66.5 in the category “highly feasible” were gained for the students’ response and teacher’s response to the maquette use, respectively. The t-test results show a significant value in the critical thinking, namely.000 <.05, indicating a significant difference between the control class and the experimental class. The gain score was 0.5 and fell into the “moderate” category. Thus, it can be concluded that maquette is effective in improving critical thinking ability.

This research aimed to identify differences in problem solving skill between male and female students. The research subjects were 50 students (21 male and 29 female) who were taken by random sampling technique from two high schools in Malang. The research instrument was adapted from problem solving instruments of Maries & Singh (2018). The data was analyzed by statistic descriptive and Kruskall Wallis test (p-value <0.05). The results showed that overall, there was no significant difference between male and female students (p-value>0.05). However male students performed better than female students on preparing the action (p-value<0.05). The results of this research can be a consideration and input for practitioners of education to improve the quality of education, especially in Indonesia.

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the primary school students were forced to study at a distance of two and a half months starting from mid-March 2020. There was a situation where students had to learn music independently more than they had done so far. The study aims to determine 2nd and 3rd grade students’ perspectives on independent distance learning of music during the Covid-19 pandemic. To achieve the aim of the study, previous researches on this issue were analysed, as well as an empirical study was carried out. The study involved 105 (N=105) primary school students in grades 2-3 and occurred in the second term of the 2019/2020 school year in a public primary school located in Riga. A questionnaire consisting of 20 statements was conducted to determine students’ perspectives on music distance learning independently. The twenty statements were divided into four groups: students’ independence, provision of technical aids, difficulties and attitude. The study revealed that the students’ skills to find and complete the tasks that are given by the teacher in the E-class are at a middle level. The students assessed their ability to learn to sing songs and perform music listening tasks independently at a high level. The students mostly used computers or mobile phones when they learned music at a distance. However, the majority of students faced a lack of technical aids. The study found out that complete music listening task was the easiest for the students, but a little harder was learning to sing songs. The most difficult part of learning for students was to complete a writing task because the possibility of printing it was limited. The students rated their attitude towards music distance learning independently at a middle level. Many students missed the presence of their teachers and longed for social activities in the classroom. The study concluded that there is a significant difference between 2nd and 3rd grade students’ skills to find independently the tasks sent by the teacher. Moreover, the 3rd grade students wanted to learn music independently at a distance more than the 2nd grade students did. The study provides evidence-based data on primary school students’ readiness to learn music independently at a distance.

This study aims to examine parents' perceptions of distance learning in response to the closure of many schools due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The research subjects consisted of parents of elementary school students, and the data were collected using interview techniques. This study shows that distance learning in a research context is organized in the form of online and offline learning. For parents, the current learning approach is something that must be lived and supported in the absence of other options. Even though parents do not have negative perceptions, distance learning contributes to increasing the burden on parents or families economically, including psychological and social aspects. The lack of parental involvement and support in the learning process of children at home is generally due to the lack of time and the inability of parents to become teachers for their children at home. Actions to accompany and support children's learning at home are carried out in the form of providing internet packages, helping children to master the learning materials, and participating in completing assignments or tests given by the teacher. The surprising finding of this study is that children's learning motivation has decreased, and for the remainder of the school year, parents expect the government to reopen it so that children can study again in class and meet with their peers.
