Ulumul hadith is a science that discusses the Prophet Muhammad’s words, deeds and decisions which have been collected by the hadith experts, to ensure that the transmission chains from the narrators to the prophet are dhobit, fair, and interconnected. In this context, the science focuses on the learning materials given to those who are studying Arabic as a foreign language. The delivery of Hadith learning materials needs to be adjusted to the Arabic trained learners with a "thinking" based strategy. Trigonometry, a discipline in mathematics, is often misunderstood by mathematics learners. To understand Trigonometry, students should start learning from understanding Mathematical concepts. Therefore, this study aims to analyze students' understanding of concepts in the Trigonometry course. This research is a qualitative descriptive study of the first semester students' conceptual understanding of the mathematics education study program at a university in Malang City. The data collected in this study consisted of the subject's work and transcripts of interviews. The instrument used in this study consisted of 6 questions about understanding the concept of trigonometric material. Analysis of the subject's work results is carried out to find out the right or wrong answers. Meanwhile, the interview transcripts were analyzed by coding to determine the factors that support conceptual understanding. The results showed that students with good conceptual understanding could solve trigonometric problems, while students with less understanding of concepts had difficulty solving trigonometric problems. The results of this study also found aspects that influence (encourage and inhibit) students in understanding the concept of trigonometry. Furthermore, this research is expected to contribute to trigonometry subjects' learning based on indicators of conceptual understanding in the Trigonometry course.

The present study attempts to present the evidence of how learners of English as Second Language perform the target language by involving 20 participants from one of state universities in Yogyakarta. The participants are sitting in the first semester majoring English Literature. In investigating the target language performance this study used a writing assignment namely recount text in order to identify language development in relation to grammar acquisition comitted by the learners. Errors made by the learners tend to show interlanguage that the learners performance gains immediate status between native language and target language. The study found that the leaners explored 15 grammar aspects including past tense, modality, to + infinitive , gerund, make, passive voice ,sentence elements, prepositions, articles, collocations, singular and plural nouns, pronouns, relative pronouns, question word order and native language transfer.  The approximate cause of the errors are overgeneralization , learning strategy and native transfer. Moreover, overgeneralization becomes the most frequent in making errors that is by consistently using past tense in dealing with verbs. Thus, it is suggested that the teacher is necessary to sharpen the material spesifically based on actual evidence of learners’ performance in order to accomodate what the learners need.

Tenses materials are basic grammar lessons that make students better at understanding grammar learning at the next level. The learning situation in this monotonous pandemic period is, of course, very detrimental for students if lecturers do not try to create innovations and learning creations. "Tepuk Keledai Cerdik" is a language teaching technique, especially with regard to grammar which is closely related to tenses. These two methods, which are combined into one name, have brought significant results to the students' ability to understand tenses in English subjects. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The method used in data collection is the direct method. The data collected from the results of the use of "Tepuk Keledai Cerdik" in learning tenses must be valid and reliable lingual data, because these two conditions are the main factors for proper analysis. "Tepuk Keledai Cerdik" has brought significant results to the students' ability to understand questions related to grammar. The results above indicate an increase in students' ability to speak English in writing by 45.78%. Tepuk Keledai Cerdik technique has been practiced by the author since 2018 in the basic communicative grammar course in the English Education study program. And this technique has brought significant results that are closely related to motivation, interest, the level of active participation of students in learning English and students' skills in solving problems in a logical and practical way.   Keywords: Learning tenses; Tehnik Tepuk Keledai Cerdik

The purpose of this study was to produce readability level of the text in textbook "Silsilah fi Ta'limil Lughah Al-'Arabiyah, Al-Mustawa Ats-Tsaniy, Al Qiraah", knowing the cause of the low level of text readability in terms of word class tendencies and linguistic findings. This study also resulted in the level of reading ability of first-semester Arabic students at universities in Indonesia, as well as the types of texts recommended for use or further development by other researchers. This research was carried out using descriptive qualitative methods, data sourced from the first semester students who took the Qiraah course totalling 83 students, with readability analysis techniques using the Cloze Procedure Test. The research showed that the readability of textbooks was 46% at the frustration level and 29% at the moderate level. The tendency of the word class to make errors generally occur in 1) 27% of perfect verbs (fi’il madhi), 2) 24% of nouns (isim), 3) 16% of imperfect verbs (fiil mudhari). Other factors are 1) Reader Factor, the majority of student inputs to the Arabic Language Education Study Program was 43% from general/vocational high schools; 35% from Islamic high school; and only 22% came from Islamic boarding schools; 2) Reading Factors, the team of writers of textbooks from native Arabic speakers generally relies on their experience, judgment, and culture in presenting the text regardless of the ability of the readers as foreign speakers. The results also showed the low level of readability of textbook due to the scarcity of choice of textbook from Arab countries. 3) Reading Book Factor, this book was minimal in terms of vocabulary and illustrations in the form of pictures so that it was less helpful in independent understanding.
