Food waste is a crucial and persistent issue globally. The household food waste phenomenon in Malaysia has emerged as increasingly serious with the rapid rise in its generation by domestic households. This study explored youth behaviour toward food waste and its disposal behaviour among the university students of Faculty Business and Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Puncak Alam Campus. Factor analysis was applied to identify the underlying factors of food waste and disposal behaviour, while the independent t-test served to examine gender differences regarding the factors. In particular, Pearson’s Chi-square Test of Independence was applied to examine the association between gender and food waste, food planning, and food recycling behaviors. To this end, a self-administrated questionnaire was used to collect data based on the convenience sampling method in which a sample size of 111 respondents were engaged with. Factor analysis successfully identified three factors as a result, namely food disposal, knowledge of food waste, and involvement in preventing food waste. The independent t-test also revealed significant gender differences among the students on food disposal behavior, whereas no significant gender differences were found with the actors of knowledge of food waste and involvement in preventing food waste. Additionally, there was no association between gender and food recycling, food planning, and food waster behaviours, respectively. As such, these findings can increase student participation and commitment to reducing food waste as it is fast becoming an issue for all.

An increase in the share of elderly people in the total population of Russia determines the theoretical and practical significance of studies aimed at improving social adaptation and the productivity of a person’s life in retirement age. The relevance of the study is due to the contradiction between the theoretical and practical significance of the problem of coping behavior of older people and its insuffi cient development in gerontopsychology. The purpose of the study was to establish the theoretical basis for conducting the factor analysis of coping behaviour in the elderly studying at the University and to analyse the findings. Some theoretical and empirical methods with psychodiagnostic techniques were used, such as Heim`s coping technique, Lazarus and Folkman’s model of coping (adapted by T. Kryukova, E. Kuftyak), Maddi’s hardiness survey (adapted by D. Leontyev), and Vodopyanova and Stein`s scale of optimism and activity. We applied the following methods of the mathematical and statistical analysis: descriptive statistics, Pearson criterion χ (Chi-square test), exploratory factor analysis (EFA), principal component analysis with a Varimax rotation with Kaiser normalization using the statistical package program StatSoft Statistica for Windows 10.0 and IBM SPSS Statistics 23. The empirical research was conducted in the University for Elderly, the regional branch of the National Non-Governmental Organization «Znanie» in Chelyabinsk. The sample comprised 101 people with the median age of 68,2 years. The factor analysis detected and verified a latent structure of coping behaviour in the elderly consisting of 7 key components classifi ed by the degree of preference. Adaptive and relatively adaptive behavioural and cognitive coping styles (based on 3 out of 7 factors) that are both problem and self-preservation oriented prevail in the factor structure of coping behaviour in the subjects.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the criteria invoked by university students when choosing banking services, and determine whether male and female students rate the importance of the various criteria differently. Design/methodology/approach Data are gathered via a quantitative approach using a questionnaire, from 300 students of a public higher learning institution in the Federal Territory of Labuan, Malaysia. The students were all aged between 18 and 25 years old, and the data obtained are analysed using exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis findings, prior to using Statistical Package for Social Sciences to conduct a multiple discriminant analysis. Findings The multiple discriminant analysis revealed that bank services, people influences, electronic services, and banking security significantly affect students’ decisions when choosing banking services, and that female students attach more importance to each of these factors than do their male counterparts. Practical implications Banks as financial service providers should provide less complex and more user-friendly banking systems and services that require minimal mental and physical effort for students, and should ensure their compatibility with students’ banking norms and lifestyles. Originality/value The identification of the most noteworthy criteria for choosing banking services, particularly accounting for gender differences among university students, provides information to banks that allows them to improve their standards of service, offer more attractive incentives and increase their visibility, thereby attracting and retaining customers.

The study examines the perception of the employees working in different State Government Departments in Tripura, and of university and college students about funds management in government sector. It obtained primary data from 160 respondents consisting of 96 men and 64 women from all the eight districts of Tripura using judgement and quota sampling technique through schedule and personal interviews. Different statistical tests like Students t-test, Pearsons Chi-square test, and factor analysis like Principal Component Analysis were performed to assess support for the hypotheses. The reliability of the questions and sample adequacy test was also carried out. Through factor analysis, four major factors viz. perceptions about the philosophy of Government accounting, perceptions about lack of financial literacy of the DDOs, perceptions about dysfunctional bureaucracy, and perceptions about slack monitoring and controlling of Governments funds were extracted. Based on such factors, Students t-test was carried out. PCA has been carried out in order to analyze the various components and Chi-square test was carried out to know the association of the male and female respondents perceptions about effective funds management strategies. The results of the study suggest that DDOs lack adequate financial education, they blindly trust the cashier, and books of records are not properly maintained and updated. It also suggests that periodical training, regular updating of books of accounts, accessing net banking facility for keeping vigil and continuous internal control and audit should be initiated for efficient funds management and to prevent employees fraud.

The perception of the university lecturer/teacher role from the students' perspective was analyzed. A sample of 1,599 social sciences university students responded to an open question about the most relevant characteristics that their ideal teacher/lecturer should have. The chi-square test performed showed that students' preferred features of the teacher/lecturer role were associated with their mutual interaction (e.g., having respectful manners, being understanding and open) as well as having the ability to clearly transmit information. Understanding students' expectations of their professors is essential in order to improve the professor-student relationship, and can also assist professors in developing their roles.

The COVID-19 pandemic is striking the world with serious public health and socioeconomic complications. The pandemic has influenced all forms of daily life, including educational institutions. Therefore, this cross-sectional survey was conducted to understand knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to COVID-19 among the students of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore. The data was collected using an online self-directed questionnaire. The survey form includes six items about sociodemographic characteristics, 14 knowledge-based questions, seven questions on attitude, and eight questions on practices. The sample number was calculated using the Raosoft sample size calculator. A total number of 3,854 students, including 1,823 men and 2,031 women, were engaged in this survey, having student representation from all the provinces in the country. The data were analyzed using a chi-square test. A total of 97% of the students knew that the etiological agent of COVID-19 is a virus and that it is a disease of the respiratory system (94%). Many students kept visiting their relatives during the lockdown (45%), and their relatives kept visiting them at home (59%). The responses from the students varied a lot on specific questions about the transmission of the virus. Women tended to have less information regarding precautionary travel measures (p < 0.01), but supplemental knowledge of prevention of disease transmission from positive patients (p < 0.01). Conclusively, the majority of the university students surveyed had imperative knowledge, a good attitude, and active practice in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Moreover, the KAP scores have varied by demography, gender, and the number of family members. Therefore, continuous awareness of preventative behaviors should be disseminated regularly in emergencies.

Radiographic Mandibular Indices serve as easy and relatively cheap tools for evaluating bone mineralization. Objectives: To examine the effect of age and gender on three mandibular indices: the panoramic mandibular index (PMI), the mandibular ratio (MR) and the mandibular cortical index (MCI), among Libyan population. Methods: The three indices were measured on 317 digital (OPGs) of adult humans (155 males, 162 females). The sample was divided into six age groups (from 18-25 years through 56-65 years). The measurements were analyzed for interactions with age and sex, using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Studies) software version no. 22. The tests employed were two way ANOVA, the unpaired T-test and chi-square test. Results: The mean PMI fluctuated between 0.37 s.d. 0.012 and 0.38 s.d. 0.012. among the sixth age groups. One-way ANOVA statistical test revealed no significant of age on PMI. On the other hand gender variation has effect on PMI, since independent sample t-test disclosed that the difference between the male and female PMI means statistically significant. ANOVA test showed that the means of MR among age groups showed a negative correlation i.e. MR mean declined from 3.01 in 18-25 age groups to 2.7 in 55-65 age groups. In contrary, the gender showed no effect on MR according two sample t-test at p> 0.05. In regards with MCI, statistical analysis showed that it affected by age that is C1 was decreasing by age while C2 and C3 were increased by age. Using chi square test the result indicated that there is a significant difference among the different age group and the two genders in MCI readings. Conclusion: PMI was influenced significantly by age but minimally by the gender. MR is not affected by gender but has a negative correlation with age. MCI is affected by both age and gender
