The purpose of this study is to investigate the quality design criteria for developing a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). Currently, there are limited studies that highlight the required design criteria for the MOOC programming courses. A descriptive analysis was conducted to examine the characteristics of the three important quality design criteria which are (i) Instructional Design Criteria involving Lecture Organization and Culture; (ii) Technical Criteria involving User Interface, Video Content, Learning and Social Tools, and Learning Analytics; and (iii) E-Assessment. The data were collected from 306 respondents, representing the UUM MOOC students of 2018 class, were further analyzed using the T-Test hypothesis testing to determine whether both the programming and non-programming students require the same quality design criteria. The questionnaire used in this study consists of 46 items related to the MOOC quality design criteria that were adapted from previous studies. The results indicate that out of the nine constructs, four have obtained significant differences in the mean scores, namely the Video Content, Instructional Design, Culture, and E-assessment. This signifies that different quality design criteria are needed for both the programming and non-programming students. The outcome of this study may assist the developers in designing the MOOC by providing the required criteria according to its importance.   Keywords: Instructional Design, MOOC, non-Programming, Programming, Quality Design

Instructional design (ID) models are proven prescriptive techniques for qualitative lessons that could guarantee learning. Existing Learning Management Systems (LMS) miss-out the roles of this important quality control mechanism by providing a mere plane and passive platform for content authoring, thus becomes vulnerable for poor instructional design. This paper demonstrates an effort to ameliorate this limitation by extending the IEEE Learning Technology System Architecture (LTSA) with ID design processes. The Use Case diagram, Activities diagram and Entity Relation diagram for the extended LTSA are presented. The extended architecture was implemented on Moodle open sourced LMS which was extended and hosted live. Students’ impressions on the functionalities and operational effects of the platform were collated using online survey. The academic effects of the platform on the students’ performance were determined using the class mean. The value obtained was compared with that of the control group in the same session and those from the previous sessions. Consequently, this work demonstrates the feasibility of integrating ID models in E-learning. It also justifies its effects on the quality of learning.

The purpose of this study was to identify the professors' e-readiness competencies in implementing online classes in terms of course design, course communication, time management, and technical competence. Also, it aimed to determine the students' perception towards the online class in terms of instructional design and delivery on students, teacher roles on students, and class organization and format. Pure descriptive analysis was used in analyzing the data, such as mean and percentage distribution. Both adapted and adopted survey questionnaires were used to address this research's problem, and these were distributed to the respondents either via online and phone call. Results showed that the senior high school department professors were good enough to use online platforms with an overall mean of 1.76, which implies that most of them are technically sound. Students have agreed that their professors are satisfied with instructional design and delivery, teacher roles, and class organization and format. The overall mean of 3.60 of students' perception towards online class implies that students have perceived their teacher's teaching way amidst pandemics is still promoting students' desire to learn, which engaged them to become more interactive in various activities. Because there are observable few numbers that can be seen in the results indicating that the teachers are not proficient enough in digital literacy, it is highly recommended to get the respondents' demographic profile in terms of age and training attended about computer literacy. It is also recommended that the professors' e-readiness be correlated to students' perception of the online class.

Background: Routine care for prevention and health promotion has reduced significantly due to the Covid-19 pandemic and mandatory social isolation measures. In this context, it is necessary to identify and describe Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) that provide opportunities for health education, promotion, and prevention aimed at the general population. The study is a systematic review of MOOCs on health education, health promotion, and prevention for the general population in a pandemic context. Methods: We developed a search for MOOC courses aimed at the general population on health education, health promotion, and prevention in different available MOOC platforms. We executed a descriptive analysis of the main characteristics of the selected MOOCs. Results: There were 117 MOOCs chosen on health education, promotion, and prevention for the general population. Coursera (40.3%) was the platform that offered the highest quantity of MOOCs; more than half of the MOOCs were in English (52.9%). The median (interquartile range) duration of the selected MOOCs was 11 (6–15) hours. The predominant themes were "Health promotion" (43%) and "Food and nutrition" (31%), and the origin was mainly from Europe (37.8%). Conclusions: MOOC offerings in health education are diverse, predominantly in English, of European origin, and in health promotion issues. This study opens an opportunity to multiply initiatives in different territories, considering other languages and topics more akin to each territorial reality, allowing it to be a more equitable learning opportunity in times of pandemic and compulsory social isolation.
