AbstractStudy habits are student behaviors on a regular basis, incorporating knowledge into the cognitive structure. The objective of this research was to characterize study habits in exact science students from the Hermilio Valdizán National University in the city of Huánuco-Peru. The research is non-experimental, descriptive and comparative with a stratified sample of probabilistic type for a population of 97 students that branched out into homogeneous non-overlapping and eligible groups with various characteristics, represented in 24 students for the academic period 2017. A test was applied from study habits to each one; including 38 dichotomous questions, classified into five dimensions. The descriptive analysis analyzed the frequency of the responses and the percentages, as well as the calculation of the median as a measure of central tendency. The comparative analysis was performed with the Mann-Whitney W non-parametric test (Wilcoxon). The most representative correlation of the research lies between class attention and general attitude (.769). The best results of the investigation explain that the most important quality for an exact science student in the development of his study habits is; place of study and general attitude.

It has been often said home is the first school and parents the first teachers. A child’s education is greatly affected by his environment including the home. As parents are major figures in the home, their education and occupational status would be expected to have bearing on the educational performance of a child. A study was conducted among secondary science students of Aizawl City Mizoram to examine if parental education and occupational status would have significant bearing on the study habits of the child. A sample population of 512 students from 8 schools was examined and the Study Habit Inventory developed by Dr. M. Mukhopadhyay and Dr. D. N. Sansanwal was used for the purpose of the study. Statistical techniques such as t-test were used to analyse the data and the study found that the study habits of children were affected only by the educational status of the mothers.

The physical activity levels of children in Australia are critically low and correlate with reduced academic achievement and poor health outcomes. Schools provide an ideal setting for physical activity interventions to help children move more. Instead of targeting in-service teachers, this study embedded an evidence-based active pedagogy program called Transform-Ed! into pre-service teacher education. Pre/post surveys and post-program interviews and focus group discussions were conducted with key stakeholders (n = 5), lecturers (n = 6), and pre-service teachers (n = 274) involved with the 12-week program. The design, implementation, and evaluation of the study were systematically guided by all five dimensions of Glasgow and colleagues’ RE-AIM (reach, effectiveness, adoption, implementation, and maintenance) framework. Linear mixed models, descriptive analysis and a framework approach were used to analyse the data. Significant improvements were observed in pre-service teachers’ willingness, confidence, and competence to implement physically active pedagogic strategies following the intervention. Pre-service teacher perceived effectiveness of such strategies on student outcomes also significantly increased and perceived barriers decreased. High adherence was consistently reported and the program was maintained after completion of the implementation trial by all lecturers. Four key themes spanning multiple dimensions and participant levels informed recommendations for program scalability: an “inter-systemic approach”, a “co-design” approach, “embedded in professional practice”, and “evidence of impact” on teacher practice. Anchored in real-world settings and tethered by implementation science, Transform-Ed! could have the potential to advance the teaching capability of teachers, and transform the learning experience and physical and academic outcomes of primary school students.

The desire of students to study when there is a good chance provided to them is called study habits. When students are not having good habits, they can’t use effective study skills. Good study habits make one individual learn more quickly and soundly than the other.       Good student is classified from the bad one according to good study habits. When especially there are video games to play, friends to gossip with and TV to watch, it's natural to not want to study.       In the university life, study is an important part of it and there is no universal method that fits every student or subject. Largely, it is a matter of figuring out what works best for the student, this is called developing practical and good study habits. However, there are some useful methods and guidelines the student can follow to help maximize his/her learning.     For this, a study habits questionnaire from (Virginia Gordon’s University Survey: 1997) was used to measure the study habits used by 58 B.A. of computer science students. Results show that most of the students don’t have good study habits and need help.
