The research aims to find out the English Materials need of the students of Genetic Computer School Singapore in Learning English. The quantitative and qualitative method were conducted in this research to provide the description of the students’ needs. In collecting the data, the researcher applied interview for lecturers and questionnaire for the students as the instrument of the research. There were two lecturers and thirty of second-semester students in the 2017-2018 academic year as participants in this research by conducting purposive sampling.The result of this research revealed that students of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) mostly needed two skills in learning English. First, speaking skill that is to communicate in English and to present their final project exam. Second, writing skill is used to do their assignment and final report in English. Language element which most important and needed by the students is vocabulary, then followed by grammar. The interview result showed that in teaching English the lecturers do not have permanent syllabuses for four semesters and the existing materials are design based on lecturers perception, it is not based on students needs. The information of this research as the recommendation for the institution that might be used as guidance to design the English syllabuses.

In the present era of rapid civilization, integration of Information Communication and Technology ICT make teaching and learning more innovative, creative, and learner centric through the use of websites and Web 2.0 tools i.e. TED, Moodle, Google Classroom and so on. Department of English, Bhakta Kavi Narsinh Mehta University, Junagadh has implemented Google Classroom for English language learning. However, it's important to know students' attitude towards the use of Google Classroom for English language learning. Here, researchers will share the questionnaire among students and will analyse the data to know students' approach towards learning English language through Google Classroom. Here, it has been attempted to demonstrate the advantages of utilizing Google Classroom in English language learning.

In learning English for specific purpose, students sometimes do not get appropriate materials with their needs. ESP materials are more specific than general English, so students should receive materials related to their background of field. This research aimed at finding out the relevance between an ESP syllabus and the students’ needs. This research used qualitative method that deals with a single or small-case studied in detail. The population was taken from the 1st semester students of Mechanical Engineering Department at University of Singaperbangsa Karawang. Random sampling was 24 students that was taken from two classes out of 120 students. The data was taken by distributing questionnaire to students and analyzing the syllabus designed by teacher. The result of this research shows that most students who are working in companies need to learn speaking skill as the most important skill as well as grammar. In addition, the ESP syllabus provided by teacher is quite relevant to the students’ needs. Therefore, it is suggested that teacher conducts a need analysis to students before designing syllabus, so it can be relevant with the students’ needs.

There is a learning model that can help teachers in class X of Senior high schools in the field of study of the English language namely a Talking Sticks Model. The researchers used a Descriptive Qualitative method with the instrument of observation check list by three meeting times. Generated data that the total number of scores on the answer "yes" numbered 9 and "no" numbered 0. The number of indicators was 9 and concluded class X (IPA 1) SMAN 4 was success by using Talking Sticks to express his opinions / ideas in the English language. Then the model development in this study of learning English speaking skills a particular have been successfully applied in at classroom in the form of discussion and can improve students' speaking skill.

This study was conducted based on the facts about the lack of maximal outcomes of learning English in almost all levels of education, especially in vocational school. Although English has been studied for many years, but the majority of students can not master English well, especially speaking. Many factors cause this phenomenon, and all parties should concern to work together to formulatebetter system and process of English learning at vocational school.The research was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Pacitan, by taking the students of class XII as subjects research. The sample of this research consists of 94 students of Business Travel and Tourism,Network Computer Engineering, and Engineering Software classes. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. It is used to describe the students’ speaking competence, particularlyin presenting final task report. This research also identifies the internal and external functions to formulate a strategy to improve the students’s speaking competence. The results showed that based on the analysis of English speaking competency of SMK Negeri 1 Pacitan students, it can be concluded as follows: a). Based on the students absorption analysis of presenting final project report, shows that English competency level of students is in the category of “pretty”, with evidence of the studentsvalue average in presenting final project report is more than the passing grade value (7.50),it is 79.5. While the number of student, who passed the presentation test,is 66 students.So it can be obtained the percentage level of mastery learning students on the presentation test of final report is only 70.21%, and it is categorized “less”, because the percentage of students who passed this exam is still under 75%. b). While the analysis of the questionnaire can be scribed that the average overall score of 3.44 speaking competence components are categorized “pretty”, and it can be concluded that the level of competence of English speaking students generally categorized “enough”. Based on the level ofstudents’ English speaking competence , it can be formulated the strategies to increase its competence. They are: a). Maximizing the use of English as a language instruction and reducing the use of Indonesian, especially in the learning process, to improve English language competency, so that students can have the ability to explain the sequence of events and the students can pass the exam well. b). Having more English presentation activitiesin other topics to encourage the students’ bravery and self-confidence in speaking English, so that students have good Englishcompetence as preparation to getjobs or to continue their study at university.c). Having more exercise of using body language to improve the mastery of speech, and smooth attitude, so that students have good English competence,and they are able to compete in the global world in obtaining employment. d). And maximizing the use of school’s facilities by using various methods of learning, and focusing on the students’ center method to improve the studentsEnglish competency so that they are able to compete for educational scholarships in this country and abroad.

This research aims at finding out students’ personal initiative towards their achievement in speaking English. This research was conducted in an English department at a university in North Sulawesi Indonesia. The data were obtained from the sixth semester students in English Language and Literature study program of academic year 2015/2016 consisting of 21 students. In obtaining the data about students’ personal initiative, a questionnaire was distributed, and for the speaking performance, the data were obtained from students’ scores in Public Speaking subject. To find out the relation between these two variables, Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient formula was used. The result of this research shows that there is a correlation between students’ personal initiative towards their speaking performance with the value of  = (0.52) categorized as a moderate correlation. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that personal initiative of students was important to be considered as one of several determination factors for students’ achievement in English speaking skill. It is suggested that students encourage themselves for taking initiative to speak, and for the teacher to give the students correction and suggestion to help them develop themselves.

The goals of this research are (1) to know what students’ responses toward WH question tehnique; (2) to know whether the WH Question can improve students’ math in English. This research used the descriptive qualitative method. The writer described and analyzed the students’ mistakes in speaking skill using local materials. The research was carried out at the first year students of math department in 2016/2017 academic year. It was strated from September 2016 to January 2017. The population was the first semester students of math department in academic year of 2016/2017. The number of population were 21 students. The results of this research were (1) the tudents gave good responses toward the WH Questions learning, and (2) the WH questions improved the Math students’ ability in learning English. Keywords: Speaking, Local-wisdom, WH-questions

Applying technology in learning English language is indispensable in the period of industry 4.0 and global integration. However, what technological techniques should be applied in teaching and learning process is the most serious concern. Evidence shows that different technological applications may lead to various learning outcomes, detrimental effects, even spoiling learning interest or motivations. Therefore, this paper is aimed not only to explore the multiple dimensions of recoding video clips in group (RVCIG) in learning English speaking skill but also illustrate how this activity (RVCIG) influences on learners’ English speaking  improvement. Apparently, these explorations and illustrations help to consider whether this RVCIG is widely used in teaching English speaking process or not. To do that, a quantitative research method with the tool of semi - structure interview is used to collect various information, mixed feedbacks or motivations from 2 groups of students fully participating in recording three video clips in group within course. Additionally, a questionnaire survey is also sent to 33 English learners for exploring both commendable and detrimental influences of this RVCIG on English speaking development. The findings indicate that RVCIG makes learners have various opposite experiences in language competence, confident expression, and communication, as well as cope with unavoidable challenges of time consuming, technological problems, and group member’ disagreements. Whatever advantages or disadvantages of this RVCIG activity has, learners also express their interest and expectation of recording video clips in group for purposes of English speaking improvement, mutual engagement, collaborative learning and building friendship.

Speaking is one of the productive skills that should be learned and mastered by English learners which gives them the ability to communicate effectively in this global world. However, most learners face difficulties in learning English, especially in mastering speaking skills. The lack of motivation in learning English is the most common problem faced by learners. With the development of technology, employing Zoom Application in learning English is recommended for fun and exciting learning. This research aims to analyze how applying Zoom Application can improve English learners’ motivation to speak in English. The descriptive qualitative method is used in this research and to gain the data, the researcher used some instruments, there are questionnaires and interviews, which were carried out to 30 learners in English Zoom Club as subjects of the research. The result of this research suggested that applying Zoom Application is very interesting since it provides such motivating and stimulating activities for English learners. Moreover, using Zoom Application make English learners have an appropriate platform and new friends to practice improving their speaking skill at the same time. Keywords:  Speaking Skill, Motivation in Language Learning, Zoom Application

The final project was about the use of information gap technique to improve speaking skill. The objective of this study was to find out whether Information Gap technique was effective to improve students’ speaking skill or not. A quasi experimental research design was used in this study. The population of this study was the eleventh graders of MAN 2 Semarang in the academic year 2014/2015 with the number of population around 210 students. Non-equivalent groups’ pretest-posttest design was used in this study. Two classes were taken as the samples with around 60 students. The data were collected by using several activities. They were pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The result of this study shows that the pretest average of experimental class was 45.81 while the pretest average of control class was 42.12. After giving treatment for four meetings the posttest average of experimental class was 70.76 and while the posttest average control class was 49.48. The result of the analysis showed that there was a significant difference. It was supported by t-test result, the significant difference in the result of posttest between control and experimental class was 0.00 < 0.05. It means that the use of Information Gap technique in teaching speaking was better than the conventional method. It could be concluded that H1 was accepted that the use of Information Gap Technique was effective to improve students’ speaking skill

This study aims to investigate how the English is used in the business workplace.. The researcher used a quantitative and descriptive qualitative method. The data used in this study are from open-ended questionnaire to the employees working in economics and business. The result reflects the workers’ learning experiences while learning English in the colleges show the several topic discussion they learnt such as Introduction, and general English, the topics about finance/ accounting material and financial reports, venture capital, stocks and bonds, which are usually useful when meetings with foreign principals or other employees and their supervisor, Writing, reading, discussion, communication, Vocabularies, Determination of the stock price index, Management, recruitment, accounting, financial statement, Learnt accounting using English books and also learnt about English conversation its very useful for my work, Vocabularies about accounts related to financial statements.  In addition, another participant responded that English that is learned on campus and at work is very different. Not all English skills are applied in the respondent's workplace, only reading is used most often.  In term of English needs in the workplace, the professionals need Speaking skills and English language terms according to work fields.
