This study aims to determine the factors that cause difficulty learning mathematics in the material lines and angles at school and at home. This type of research is qualitative research. Subjects in this study were four students who have difficulty learning math class VIIB SMPN 4 Sindang. In this research, the writer used a technique Bogdan and Biklen’stechniqueto data analysis. The writer also uses triangulation observer, place, time, and theory to examine the validity of the data obtained. Based on the research results and conclusions obtained are students’difficulties in learning mathematics of the lines and anglesmaterial are (a) misunderstanding of the students toward a matter to be determined; (b) ignorance of the students to the concept of lines and angles; (c) students to the inaccuracy of writing symbols (language) mathematics; (d) the inaccuracy of students on mathematical calculations. Meanwhile, the factors that cause students learning difficulties in learning lines and angles material is divided into two factors, namely the internal and external factors. Internal factors (in students) that caused learning difficulties in learning material lines and angles are the students are no interest towards learning mathematics and how/study habits of students.
In learning process must be found the student’s learning difficulties. The difficulties blocked students in learning process caused by several internal factors(talent, motive, intelligence, motivation) and external factors (family, teachers, peers). The student difficulty in learning general is caused by the lack of understanding of mathematical concepts. Skemp states that there are two types of mathematical concepts understanding, namely instrumental understanding and relational understanding. The purpose of research in this article is to describe the students' difficulties to solve the problem in a quadrilateral topic based on Skemp's Understanding theory. Skemp’s Understanding theory indicators include : students ability to classify objects based on requirements that can build this concept, students ability to apply this concept with algorithm , students ability to giving examples of a concept, students ability to present the concept in mathematics representation, students ability to relating various mathematical concepts, and the ability to develop the necessary terms and conditions is quite a concept. This research was designed in qualitative research. The data was collected by test and interview. The results show that the most difficult is about the students ability to relating various mathematical concepts.

This study was conducted at the Junior High School of West Aceh using scientific approach in the process of teaching and learning. This study aims to determine the types of difficulties and factors that cause student learning problem during the use of the scientific approach. The method in this study is the analysis of miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion with the technique of triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The results of the study showed that the learning difficulties of students' mathematics consisted of five components: Reading Error, Comprehension Error, Transformation Error, Process Skill Error, and Encoding Error. Besides, the factors that cause learning difficulties in mathematics come from internal factors and external factors. Internal factors derived from students include student attitudes in learning mathematics, student learning motivation is still low, body health is not optimal, and students' sensory abilities are lacking. While external factors that come from outside the students, among others, the lack of teacher teaching variation, and the use of learning media that has not been maximized. Efforts should be made to reduce the difficulty of learning mathematics by the difficulties experienced and background factors among others teaches math with fun, using instructional media concrete reproduce exercises, and collaborates with parents.
