Objective of this research is to investigate how two attitudes of meat processing enterprises in Albania; ˜Willingness to invest on ISO and ˜Perception about competition level are affected by different factors belonging to internal and external environment of the organization. Stratified random sampling was used for selecting the sample of 45 meat processing enterprises out of 54 officially registered. Face to face interview survey method was conducted. The respondents were mainly managers, owners or high level personnel of the selected meat enterprises. The model of ordinal logistic regression was used to quantify the effects of different management factors on Willingness to invest on ISO and ˜Perception about competition. As result we conclude that the more information and knowledge enterprises have about ISO standards, the more they will have the willingness to invest on these standards. The next finding is that, if companies want to operate in national markets (high competition level) it is a good choice to do a benchmark analysis, also if enterprises in meat industry want to operate in high competitive markets the have to focus on after sales services and on product delivery.

The entire world is passing through great uncertainty due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. There are, primarily, two major visible threats that the world is facing at this juncture. One is on the health of the masses and other one is on the economy. In Indian context majority of the socio-economic activities are under complete and partial lockdown for several months, since March 25, 2020 and restrictions has been eased in phased manner. This has affected the lives of almost all, especially the poor and marginalized population, agricultural labourers, and the informal sector workforce. India needs to be more proactive and planned when it comes to countering the social and economic effects of any pandemic in future. In this context, it is of equal importance to observe the threat perception prevailing among people belonging to different demographic groups. Threat perception is a serious aftershock of any pandemic that restricts general public in returning to their normal socioeconomic life. It has huge socio-economic back fall. Under this study, the researchers have used survey method to collect primary data on the threat perception of people coming from different demographic groups. The study focus to identify whether there is any variation in threat perception of people regarding COVID-19 pandemic with reference to several demographic groups. To analyze the variation among different demographic groups Kruskal-Wallis Test, popularly known as the H-Test, is used. Henceforth, Post- Hoc Test is also performed to identify the significant differences in threat perception among different pair of sub groups, where demographic factors significantly impact threat perception. The researchers have also conducted Ordinal Logistic Regression to identify the level of variation in dependent variable, explained by independent variables. The variation in threat perception among peoples regarding this disease will definitely have huge impact on their socio-economic lifestyles. The research shows mixed results. The researchers have also suggested some recommendations based on the results of the study to control or rather to bridge up threat perceptional variations regarding COVID-19 for protecting socio-economic backbone of the country. KEYWORDS: Covid-19, Kruskal-Wallis Test, Lockdown, Ordinal Logistic Regression, Pandemic, Post- Hoc Test, Threat perception.

The modern way of teaching and learning emphasizes the technology to be embedded in the education system. Thus, higher learning institutions (HLIs) are gradually switching their class delivering method from classroom-based teaching (CBT) to the so-called blended learning approach (BLA). The BLA integrates traditional CBT with the online teaching class. Thus, this study aims to investigate the readiness level towards BLA among lecturers in HLIs. Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) lecturers were chosen as a study population, and the sample of 350 lecturers was determined using a proportionate random sampling method. The survey method was used to gather the data, and by utilizing the descriptive statistic, our results suggest that lecturers in HLIs have a high level of readiness towards the BLA. Even though there are limitations, they are keen to participate in the BLA. The findings of this study will help HLIs to understand the readiness level of lecturers towards BLA, explicate how face-to-face and online classes could be integrated besides accommodates the loopholes in the system.

Abstract The classical senses (vision, hearing, touch, taste, and smell) play a key role in social function by allowing interaction and communication. We assessed whether sensory impairment across all 5 modalities (global sensory impairment [GSI]) was associated with social function in older adults. Sensory function was measured in 3,005 home-dwelling older U.S. adults at baseline in the National Social Life, Health, and Aging Project and GSI, a validated measure, was calculated. Social network size and kin composition, number of close friends, and social engagement were assessed at baseline and 5- and 10-year follow-up. Ordinal logistic regression and mixed effects ordinal logistic regression analyzed cross-sectional and longitudinal relationships respectively, controlling for demographics, physical/mental health, disability, and cognitive function (at baseline). Adults with worse GSI had smaller networks (β=-0.159, p=0.021), fewer close friends (β=-0.262, p=0.003) and lower engagement (β=-0.252, p=0.006) at baseline, relationships that persisted at 5 and 10 year follow-up. Men, older people, African-Americans, and those with less education, fewer assets, poor mental health, worse cognitive function, and more disability had worse GSI. Men and those with fewer assets, worse cognitive function, and less education had smaller networks and lower engagement. African-American and Hispanic individuals had smaller networks and fewer close friends, but more engagement. Older respondents also had more engagement. In summary, GSI independently predicts smaller social networks, fewer close friends, and lower social engagement over time, suggesting that sensory decline results in decreased social function. Thus, rehabilitating multisensory impairment may be a strategy to enhance social function as people age.

Spore-forming bacteria are a major concern for the food industry as they cause both spoilage and food safety issues. Moreover, as they are more resistant than vegetative cells, their removal from the food processing environment may be difficult to achieve. This study investigated the efficacy of the ten most commonly used disinfectant agents (assigned 1–10), used at the recommended concentrations in the meat industry, for their ability to eliminate Clostridium sporogenes and Clostridioides difficile spores. Test-tube based suspension assays suggested that disinfectants 2 (10% v/v preparation of a mixture of hydrogen peroxide (10–30%), acetic acid (1–10%) and peracetic acid (1–10%)), 7 (4% w/v preparation of a mixture of peroxymonosulphate (30–50%), sulphamic acid (1–10%) and troclosene sodium (1–10%)) and 10 (2% v/v preparation of a mixture of glutaraldehyde (10–30%), benzalkonium chloride (1–10%)) were the most effective formulations. D-values for these ranged from 2.1 to 8.4 min at 20 °C for the target spores. Based on these findings, it is recommended that these disinfectants are used to control Clostridium spores in the meat plant environment.

This paper try to fully reveal the key factors affecting the the level of AMT application in micro- and small enterprises (MSEs) from its organizational factors by ordinal logistic regression. The results show that MSEs have a relatively high level of AMT application as a whole due to the maturity and cost reduction of basic technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital manufacturing and industrial robots. In this paper we propose manufacturing world analysis at Application using Logistic Regression and best AMT selection using Fuzzy-TOPSIS Integration approach.Considering the influence mechanism of each factor, the important factors that affect the application level of AMT are the enterprise’s market pricing power, the main production types, technical, market and management capabilities, organization development incentives and the interaction with external stakeholders. Based on the results above, the following policy implications are proposed: further expanding the customized production in MSEs to gradually improve the market pricing power, expanding the core competence of enterprises, enhancing the employee autonomy, and strengthening the interaction with industry organizations.
