The most complete and reliable biography of this prominent researcher, who is better known by the surname Haenseler or Henseler, continues to be the one published in the journal Botanische Zeitung (1846); which was authored jointly by his friends and colleagues Pablo Prolongo (1806-1885) and Moritz Willkomm (1821-1895) and which was presented here by J. A. Devesa and M. C. Viera in a Spanish version (2001). Nevertheless, the major importance of this personage and of his multidisciplinary naturalistic researches in the province of Málaga merit a reappeaisal. In this article we start from the above-mentioned 1846 biobibliographical paper in which we integrate the highly fragmented information on our biographee which is currenty available with the bare details in a brief reference appearing in the Flora Ibérica (2009) as the sole existing entry at our national academic level.

This paper aims to examine the clash between languages and cultures as identified in the treatment of news events, with particular reference to the Falklands, or Malvinas in their Spanish denomination, in British and Spanish Internet news portals. English, as a global language, and Spanish, as its main European rival, exemplify a conflict between two languages and cultures that attempt to achieve or maintain world dominance, a battle that has been taken to the Internet arena in recent years. Thus,El Paísnewspaper launched an English version for their Internet readers whereas the BBC produced a Spanish version of its English news service. The conflict between the two languages is decisive when reporting on highly sensitive areas in each culture, such as the issue of Gibraltar’s sovereignty or the news events originating in or around the Falkland Islands. The paper pays particular attention to the latter and the way in which translation is embedded within or is part of the conflict itself. For that purpose, the paper surveys the reports posted in the Spanish news web sitesAbc,El País,andEl Mundo, on the one hand, and the English portals ofThe Guardian,The Times,Daily Telegraph,The Independentand the BBC on the other. The results will be compared with the translated news in the English edition ofEl Paísand in the Spanish version of the BBC (BBCMundo) respectively to determine the position of the two media with regards to this issue.

AIMS: To know the number of vaccine refusals and to investigate the reasons for non-compliance with vaccination by the parents of children and adolescents living in an urban area of northern Portugal.METHODS: A cross-sectional study was carried out with a sample of children/adolescents up to the age of 14 enrolled in health units in a metropolitan area of Porto, Portugal, belonging to the health centers groupings of Porto Ocidental, Porto Oriental, Gaia, Gondomar and Matosinhos, whose parents refused any vaccination of the National Vaccination Program in the period from January 2009 to December 2015. We studied the characterization of the sample and the reasons for vaccine rejection through the application of a questionnaire to parents.RESULTS: We identified 150 cases of children/adolescents to whom the parents refused any vaccine, in a global population of 103,406 children, resulting in a vaccine refusal rate of 0.14%. The highest rate occurred in the Porto Ocidental health centers grouping: 0.31%. Among the 150 cases, 86 parents accepted to respond to the questionnaire, corresponding to an adhesion rate of 64%. The median age of children/adolescents whose parents refused vaccination was seven years; most of them were healthy and had no perinatal problems. All parents were adults, mostly married and female. Most parents had a college degree and were professionally active. The Porto Oriental health centers grouping was the one where the parents who refused vaccines were mostly males, had a higher academic level and were more professionally active. The vaccine with the highest refusal rate was BCG, followed by anti-human papillomavirus and measles, mumps and rubella vaccine. The four main reasons for vaccination refusal by the parents were "vaccines are not a priority", "vaccines are not safe", "indication of the attending physician" and "fear of side effects." The reason for the "indication of the attending physician" was in all cases referred to the BCG vaccine.CONCLUSIONS: In this population the vaccination refusal rate was low; however, based on the results obtained, intervention efforts can be directed towards the families, aiming at combating the arguments without scientific basis and obtaining an unequivocal adhesion to the National Vaccination Program in Portugal.

A strong theoretical approach with a specific focus on disciplinary research characterizes the common science master’s education in the Netherlands. However, a work-based learning (WBL) approach may as well be expedient and suitable for science education at master’s level. In this paper, a case study is presented of a WBL-program designed for an academic setting: the one year Science, Business and Policy (SBP) master’s track, offered at the Faculty of Science and Engineering of the University of Groningen. The paper describes the design and curriculum of the track, including its underlying theoretical framework, courses, multidisciplinary projects and work placements. Based on the SBP-track’s design we identified six possible indicators of a successful elaboration of an academic WBL-program: the SBP-track 1) is designed in response to the Bologna process; 2) is offered fully within the curriculum of a master’s program of a research university; 3) requires a sufficient academic level and disciplinary knowledge at entrée; 4) follows an educational project approach; 5) focuses on the integration and implementation of knowledge, and; 6) applies learning objectives that are specifically formulated to match the WBL educational method. A directed content analysis of SBP work placements revealed an increase in the number of SBP-students between 2003 and 2019, with an overrepresentation of life science students, as well as a large variety of real-case problems addressed for both business and policy organisations diverse in sector, size and region. Students’ grades showed a positive correlation between the initial theoretical preparation and the report made during the work placement. In conclusion, the societal interpretation of the Bologna process has been implemented successfully with SBP, by combining academic learning with gaining professional experience using a WBL-approach. PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to verify the hypothesis that seasonality in the peer-to-peer (p2p) market for tourist accommodation is smaller than the existing in conventional markets, taking the case of the island of Majorca as a reference. This paper will also determine the role of professional hosts in the management of prices and in the marketing of accommodation according to seasonal demand variations.Design/methodology/approachFrom the information obtained through web scrapings of Airbnb listings and from data provided by official statistics, comparable indicators of seasonality are developed. Likewise, econometric estimates are provided to detect differences regarding the determination of accommodation prices between professional and nonprofessional hosts.FindingsThe p2p market is less subject to seasonality than the conventional one. In the particular case of Palma de Majorca, fluctuations in accommodation demand are even smaller than in the rest of the island's municipalities. Professional hosts apply marketing techniques related to price and product promotion and are sensitive to demand variations altering prices and responding to the economic stimuli in this way. At an academic level, these findings suggest, on the one hand, the relevance of considering the heterogeneity of the touristic market when constructing theoretical models. And, on the other hand, basic economic principles should be applied to explain agent behavior in the p2p market.Research limitations/implicationsThis work does not use a direct demand measurement. Instead, it approximates demand through the reviews left by guests in p2p markets. At least in the case of the island of Majorca, the touristic demand represents a reduced percentage of touristic demand in total.Practical implicationsSo far, both public and private strategies to combat seasonality have focused on increasing occupancy in conventional accommodation. Still, the fact that hotel demand and private accommodation demand are different has relevant implications for price management, touristic products, supply planning and the implementation of marketing campaigns. Also, advertising could be aimed at alleviating the undesirable effects of seasonality.Social implicationsThe evidence presented helps the design of public policy strategies aimed at mitigating the problem of seasonality in touristic demand to accommodate it to social preferences in each area.Originality/valueThis is the first piece of research, as far as we are aware of, that addresses the phenomenon of demand seasonality in the p2p market for tourist accommodation. In addition, a comparison is made with the seasonal patterns that characterize the conventional hotel market. New ideas are provided for the design of a comprehensive touristic policy in which both markets are considered.

Krausists followed a dialectical method in all their activities. It is an action plan in which theory and practice are established on a continuum. Since it summarizes all human activity, this dialectic implies a philosophy of action. The originality of this article lies precisely in offering an account of the philosophy of action implicit in the work of Krause, which has never before been made explicit. Therefore, the goal of this article is, on the one hand, to isolate this dialectic in the texts of the Spanish Krausists, and, on the other hand, to demonstrate the traditional affirmation about the practical meaning of Krause’s philosophy, as shown in its Spanish version. This practical orientation of his thought was channelled through several disciplines and, especially, through the modern pedagogy known as active education. Throughout the article, I also show how to relate Krause’s philosophy to contemporary philosophical debates.

Recent research in reading has begun to exert enormous influence in the way reading and literature are currently being taught at all academic level, specially it implicated in elementary and secondary classroom. The response-centered approach emphasize the reader as a key element in the creation of the literary work and suggest that we have placed too much stress on getting meaning from the literature alone and too little on seeing what skills our students bring to their reading. The literary work such as text about the local communities in English language which is written by foreigner can stimulate the student’s language and know more the local culture. The one important thing for the student English learners is easy to understand about the text, so they know about how to use the appropriate word in English to explain about their own culture. Literary work has a function as language structure in the certain form, such as the user of vocabulary and syntaxes. Literature has a high value. For this reason, the students who is learning English language learn more deeply about literary text.

Palavras llave hermenéutica; técnica de la información; red digital Abstract We live in societies based on digital networks of communication that have become popular and globalized. This may account for the loss of the academic interest that hermeneutics enjoyed in the 19th century as methodology, and in the 20th century as self-understanding of human existence. Hermeneutics in the 21st century faces the challenge of digital technology. Can there be a digital hermeneutics? This paper explores the origin of the conjunction between hermeneutics and information technology. A hermeneutics of the digital network is paradoxical because digital technology itself enables both a critical analysis of a “strong” hermeneutical subject and a powerful informational code such as the one criticized by, for example, Lawrence Lessig. Key words hermeneutics; information technology; digital networks

</p> <p>&nbsp;</p><p>In recent years, college students often take their alma mater to court because they have been punished or can not accept the corresponding punishment. Students think that the results of the school seriously infringe on their right to education or other basic rights. On the one hand, the legal consciousness of College Students’ self-protection is constantly improving, on the other hand, it also reflects the illegality of the student rights relief procedure in dealing with students’ violations. degree is not only a symbol of academic level, but also a prerequisite for obtaining corresponding economic and social status. When colleges and universities make the decision to cancel their degrees, they must take into account both substantive justice and procedural justice, not only to maintain academic value and academic ethics, but also to fully protect the legitimate rights and interests of students. In particular, the negative impact of degree revocation on the parties is extremely significant, in addition to directly affecting the party’s right to reputation, privacy and work, and even the party’s personal dignity. This kind of behavior will cause serious consequences of the parties, we must improve the way of relief. At present, the disputes caused by the revocation of degree have been included in the scope of judicial review. However, because it is related to the &quot;academic freedom&quot; of colleges and universities, when the court tries the dispute of revocation of degree, it generally only examines whether colleges and universities follow the principle of due process in the process of revocation of degree. As for the substantive academic misconduct, the court generally does not review it. Taking the case of the Yu Yanru’s doctorate degree from Peking University as an example, this paper analyzes the dispute points of degree withdrawal and hopes to have a better understanding of the legal system of student rights relief in Chinese mainland.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Learning outcomes The learning outcomes are as follows: to understand the problem of informality and how it develops, taking advantage of the control flaws of public and private institutions and its growth by the legitimacy of society; to analyze the role of the regulatory body in its fight against informality from the area of its influence, which is the energy sector; to analyze the economic and social impact of a solution like the one proposed in the case; to analyze the impact at the level of public policies of solutions such as the one proposed in the case; and to review the strategy of the hand of technology that can achieve the development of original solutions to fight against informality. Case overview/synopsis The case study was written on the basis of a real success story that explains the development of a technological solution that allowed the Supervisory Agency of Energy and Mining of Peru to effectively deal with informality in the commercialization of fuels, which became a reference in the region. The story begins by recreating the system that existed for the commercialization of fuels and how the shortcomings of this system itself encouraged the appearance of informal merchants who benefited from the situation. It also explains how the regulatory authority decides to deal with this problem by creating a special unit that confronts this issue and how, after some failures, an original strategy was able to be designed with the help of technology to control informality. Complexity academic level Business schools, where different aspects can be analyzed, such as the strategy used in the supply chain of informal or formal commerce. It is also recommended for use in master’s programs in specific sectors, such as public management or energy management. Finally, it can also be used in entrepreneurship, given that informal entrepreneurship is considered as a new line of research in this field.
