The research examined the impact of a planned relocation of a firm in Israel on the apprehensions of its employees. 134 workers were given a 12-item questionnaire which dealt with worries they had concerning their positions after the relocation. Factor analysis of the items indicated two factors, apprehensions relating to the greater distance from home and apprehensions regarding the possible changes in the job situation. Women in non-managerial positions were more apprehensive than men holding similar positions regarding the first factor, while less so regarding the second factor. The only factor which significantly correlated with the workers' intention of leaving the organization after the transfer was the distance from home.

Stress in caregivers may affect the healthcare recipients receive. We examined the impact of stress experienced by 45 adult caregivers of their elderly demented parents. The participants completed a 32-item questionnaire about the impact of experienced stress. The questionnaire also asked about interventions that might help to reduce the impact of stress. After exploratory factor analysis, we reduced the 32-item questionnaire to 13 items. Results indicated that caregivers experienced stress, anxiety, and sadness. Also, emotional, but not financial or professional, well-being was significantly impacted. There was no significant difference between the impact of caregiver stress on members from the sandwich generation and those from the nonsandwich generation. Meeting with a social worker for resource availability was identified most frequently as a potentially helpful intervention for coping with the impact of stress.

BackgroundThere is a lack of validated instruments measuring perceived stigma in people with intellectual disability.AimsTo develop a valid and reliable self-rated instrument to measure perceived stigma that can be completed by people with mild to moderate intellectual disability.MethodA literature search was used to generate a list of statements. Professionals, individuals with intellectual disability and carers were consulted about the suitability of statements. An instrument was developed containing statements about stigma with accompanying photographs. Test–retest reliability, internal consistency and the factor structure of the instrument were evaluated.ResultsThe instrument was completed by 109 people once and 88 people twice. Items with limited variability in responses and kappa coefficients lower than 0.4 were dropped. Exploratory factor analysis revealed two factors: ‘perceived discrimination’ (seven items) and ‘reaction to discrimination’ (four items). One item loaded onto both factors. Cronbach's alpha for the ten-item instrument was 0.84.ConclusionsThis instrument will further our understanding of the impact of stigma in people with intellectual disability in clinical and research settings.

Background In addition to their educational role, resilient schools have a good capacity in response to disasters. Due to the large student population, the schools can be a safe and secure environment during disasters, in addition to maintaining their performance after. Given the role and importance of the schools, the impact of culture and environment on resilience, without any indigenous and comprehensive tool for measuring the resilience in Iran, the study aimed to design and psychometrically evaluate the measurement tools. Method This study was conducted using a mixed-method sequential explanatory approach. The research was conducted in two main phases of production on items based on hybrid model and the psychometric evaluation of the tool. The second phase included validity (formal, content and construction) and reliability (multiplex internal similarity, consistency and reliability). Result The integration of systematic and qualitative steps resulted in entering 91 items into the pool of items. After formal and content validity, 73 items remained and 44 were omitted in exploratory factor analysis. A questionnaire with 5 factors explained 52.08% of total variance. Finally, after the confirmatory factor analysis, the questionnaire was extracted with 29 questions and 5 factors including "functional", "architectural", "equipment", "education" and "safety". Internal similarity and stability in all factors were evaluated as good. Conclusion The result showed that the 29-item questionnaire of school resilience in emergencies and disasters is valid and reliable, that can be used to evaluate school resilience. On the other hand, the questionnaire on assessment of school resilience in disasters enables intervention to improve its capacity.

The aim of this study was to adapt a previously developed test to gain a detailed insight into the cycling skills of Greek children and examine the impact that gender, age and cycling experience have on cycling skills. Students (n=80) from a local elementary school in Attica region (Greece) took the adapted cycling skills test consisting of 12 test stations. An exploratory factor analysis was conducted to investigate the factor structure of the cycling test. Descriptive statistics were performed on children’s cycling skill scores. Furthermore, independent sample t-tests and Pearson r correlations were executed to evaluate individual correlates of cycling skills. Two factors were extracted: the ‘during cycling skills’ and the ‘attention/handling cycling skills’ factor. Most children faced difficulties for skills that required more advanced attention skills and while cycling over obstacles. No significant differences in separate factors, as well as the overall cycling skill, were noted between boys and girls. Significant correlations were observed between years of cycling experience and cycling skills, while age was not correlated to these factors. The 12-item test battery adapted in the present study is suitable for the evaluation of cycling skills of Greek elementary students. Implications of the current research are further discussed.

The article considers the method of modeling and factor analysis of the final production result of the enterprise – the volume of production. It is proposed to use deterministic models in the factor analysis of this indicator, which contain the set of factors that reflect the size and efficiency of use of the production areas of the enterprise. The article emphasizes that in the market economy, factor analysis is the important and effective basis for justifying management decisions. The main task of such analysis is the systematic and comprehensive study of the production activities of the enterprise in order to objectively assess the achieved results and establish real ways to further improve its efficiency. Taking this into account, the study of theoretical approaches to the performance of the factor analysis of the efficiency of using the production areas of the enterprise, that is, determining the quantitative influence of factors on the volume of production, is gaining relevance. To study the impact of these factors on the change of this indicator, it is proposed to conduct the step-by-step factor analysis, the essence of which is that the calculation of the impact on the change of the analyzed indicator is first two factors, then three and so on. This allows in each case to calculate the impact on the change of the studied indicator only the factors that are currently the most significant and relevant. The method of factor analysis of production volume given in the article gives the chance to define influence on its change of the most important factors reflecting the sizes and efficiency of use of the industrial areas occupied by the enterprise, to investigate patterns of such influence, to use this information at substantiation of administrative decisions.

This research aims to analyze the influence of Engineering professors’ competencies on their performance, as perceived by Engineering students and graduates from a Brazilian federal public university. Regarding methodology, a set of Engineering educators’ competencies were proposed, identified, and validated by exploratory factor analysis (EFA), parallel analysis, internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha), and partial confirmatory factor analysis (PCFA) in a sample of 139 Engineering students and graduates (engineers), who answered a 35-item questionnaire. Results reveal three main competencies (namely, content-pedagogical knowledge, innovation-inspiring attitudes, and emotional skills) that further the research on the competencies of Engineering professors. First, content-pedagogical knowledge is perceived by students as a single, merged competence. Second, Engineering students not only need to develop innovation competencies, but Engineering educators also have to develop innovation-inspiring attitudes to motivate students’ innovativeness. Third, emotional skills also play an important role in professors’ performance. Finally, the impact of these competencies on Engineering educators’ performance was confirmed and analyzed by means of a logistic regression.

The study is carried out to achieve the following objectives: Identify the factors affecting the spontaneous purchasing behavior of consumers at stores of the Bach Hoa Xanh system in Ho Chi Minh City. around the original factors: In-store atmosphere, promotions and shopping emotions; Measure the influence of the identified factors; Using qualitative and quantitative research methods, the study surveyed 213 customers who have experienced shopping at stores of the Bach Hoa Xanh chain in Ho Chi Minh City by convenient sampling method. With the support of SPSS software version 22 and Amos version 20, the author carried out the steps of descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and linear structural analysis (SEM). Research results have shown two factors that have a direct impact on the spontaneous purchasing behavior of Bach Hoa Xanh consumers in Ho Chi Minh City, including: Promotions (standardized regression coefficient of 0.170) and shopping sentiment (standardized regression coefficient reached 0.478). The dependent variable shopping emotion is affected by 2 independent factors: Atmosphere at the store and promotions. The impact of these two factors is quite strong, reaching 0.627 and 0.336, respectively. Atmosphere factor at the store does not directly affect spontaneous purchasing behavior but indirectly through the mediated variable shopping emotion. All accepted hypotheses reached the 95% confidence level. The author's research will be a source of documents and information for managers of the Bach Hoa Xanh chain in Ho Chi Minh City to adjust business strategies to suit each business period.

The need to break down the barriers facing women in the labour market arouses great interest for reasons of social and sustainability justice. This study breaks new ground on the topic of the “glass ceiling” by assessing the evolution of gender inequality in the proportion of individuals reaching high managerial positions. The application of the csQCA method to a survey of two cohorts of Spanish graduates in management sharing the same starting conditions reveals two factors: job variety and additional education, as conditions that are usually present in a successful managerial career. Our findings confirm the prevalence of the gender gap with little progress in recent years. Women find it more difficult to promote to high managerial positions whereas being a man turns out to almost be a guarantee for eluding low managerial positions. In the context of Spain, and for sure in most other countries, the few women attaining high managerial positions still need to make a greater effort in their professional career than their male counterparts.

Background: A substantial proportion of therapists experience the loss of a patient to suicide at some point during their professional life. Aims: To assess (1) the impact of a patient’s suicide on therapists distress and well-being over time, (2) which factors contribute to the reaction, and (3) which subgroup might need special interventions in the aftermath of suicide. Methods: A 63-item questionnaire was sent to all 185 Psychiatric Clinics at General Hospitals in Germany. The emotional reaction of therapists to patient’s suicide was measured immediately, after 2 weeks, and after 6 months. Results: Three out of ten therapists suffer from severe distress after a patients’ suicide. The item “overall distress” immediately after the suicide predicts emotional reactions and changes in behavior. The emotional responses immediately after the suicide explained 43.5% of the variance of total distress in a regression analysis. Limitations: The retrospective nature of the study is its primary limitation. Conclusions: Our data suggest that identifying the severely distressed subgroup could be done using a visual analog scale for overall distress. As a consequence, more specific and intensified help could be provided to these professionals.
