There has been substantial theoretical as well as applied evidence about the explanatory facets of investor's perception and investment decision making (IDM). The study reported here investigates the underlying dimensions in the selection of different investment avenues for investors. Examination of a sample of 500 investor respondents reveals the extent to which the significant IDM variables account for variations in present and future investment in various investment avenues. The results suggest that investors' preferences are supposedly related to the actual performance of investments and the same is taken into account while forming an opinion about making future investment decision. Further, demographic factors like age and education have a significant influence on IDM process. The underlying dimension in selection of investments reveals emphasis on familiarity, opinion and demographic measures for all investment avenues. The analysis in the paper reiterates the fact that rational human beings learn from their past and present experiences and utilize the same for their future activities.

Using survey data, this research identified the relationship between technology orientation (manufacturing flexibility and advance manufacturing technology), and customer orientation (customer focus and customer satisfaction) to development of manufacturing strategy. This framework is then tested on a sample of 52 firms in plastics injection industry, Taipei County, Taiwan. The results show significant relationships in the framework with four models. They support the argument found in the literatures that manufacturing strategy builds should related to technological development and market place. Implications of the findings are discussed.

The transformation of classical educational forms in the conditions of step-by-step implementing the Conceptual Principles “New Ukrainian School”, in particular, through using educational material’ visualization is researched. The purpose of the study is to analyze visualization as a methodological technique during mathematics lessons in secondary educational institutions. An empirical study of visualization as a methodological technique for lessons’ effectiveness was carried out by means of an online questionnaire using Google forms service. The purpose of questionnaire was to determine frequency of visualization using in mathematics lessons, positive effects of visualization, as well as to clarify the problems associated with its use. Analysis of the results of the questionnaire indicates that this methodological technique is actively used in the educational activities of Poltava region secondary educational institutions teachers. Due to an analytical prioritization of the positive effects of visualization using in mathematics lessons it’s showed that teachers note time saving and information saturation as the main benefits. Much less priority is given to such advantages as facilitating perception and memorization, as well as interactivity, which are of particular importance for senior students. It is concluded that such characteristics of respondents as the geography of educational institutions where survey participants work, as well as branches (mathematical knowledge groups), which include single parts of mathematics, were irrelevant in the aspect of using visualization as a methodological technique when conducting math lessons. The practical value of the study is due to the fact that its results can be used in lessons on other associated subjects related to didactics and methods of teaching mathematics. The results of monitoring the visualization in mathematics lessons at Poltava region secondary educational institutions can be used in further empirical studies on this field.

The fast pace of technological advancements is regarded as one of the global drivers of change. In the telecommunications sector in South Africa, these technological advancements as well as sector transformation pose competitiveness challenges to entrepreneurs. This paper reports an empirical study performed to contribute to the promotion of entrepreneurial competitiveness within the telecommunications sector of the South African economy. From the empirical study, significant relationships proved to exist between the intervening- and independent variables and the dependent variable of this study, namely Perceived Entrepreneurial Competitiveness. The independent variable Infrastructural Change positively influenced both the intervening variable Entrepreneurial Orientation and dependent variable Perceived Entrepreneurial Competitiveness. In the same manner, the independent variables of Regulatory Alignment and Entrepreneurial Mindset did positively influenced Perceived Entrepreneurial Competitiveness within thisstudy. The study found that entrepreneurs can position their businesses more competitively if the factors that impact directly or indirectly on Entrepreneurial Competitiveness in the South African Telecommunications sector are taken in consideration.

Data from 136 industrial employees were used to test and evaluate 25 different correlates of job motivation for 81 male and 45 female employees. The variables were tested to determine their relationship with job motivation. Approximately half of the variables examined showed statistically significant relationships with job motivation after partialling out the effects of job level. Actual pay earned in dollars per week before taxes ( r = 0.51) exhibited the strongest relationship with job motivation for the males, while total work experience measured in years worked ( r = 0.55) exhibited the strongest relationship with job motivation for females. The validity of the Herzberg two-factor theory of motivation is also discussed in light of these findings.

IT business value research examines the organizational performance impacts of information technology. In this paper, we apply the value configuration of the value shop to describe and measure organizational performance. The value shop consists of the five primary activities of problem understanding, solutions to problems, decisions on actions, implementation of actions, and evaluations of actions in an iterative problem-solving cycle. Police investigation work is defined as value shop activities. Our empirical study of Norwegian police results in significant relationships between information technology use and investigation performance for all primary activities. The most important primary activities for IT use are problem understanding and implementation of actions, as both significantly improve value shop performance.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate the perceptions of speech-language pathologists (SLPs) regarding their academic preparation and current confidence levels for providing dysphagia services, and the relationship between their perceptions of graduate school preparation and their current levels of confidence. Method This study utilized an online survey to gather information from 374 American Speech-Language-Hearing Association–certified SLPs who currently provide dysphagia services in the United States. Surveys were primarily distributed through American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Special Interest Group forums and Facebook groups. The anonymous survey gathered information regarding SLPs' perceptions of academic preparation and current confidence levels for providing dysphagia services in 11 knowledge and skill areas. Results Findings indicated that more than half of respondents did not feel prepared following their graduate academic training in five of the 11 knowledge and skill areas related to dysphagia service delivery. However, about half of respondents indicated they were currently confident about their ability to provide services in eight of the 11 knowledge and skill areas. Findings also indicated that their current confidence levels to provide dysphagia services were significantly higher than their perceptions of preparation immediately following graduate school. However, no significant relationships were found between respondents' self-reported current confidence levels and their perceptions of the adequacy of their academic preparation. Conclusions Despite SLPs' low perceptions of the adequacy of their graduate preparation for providing dysphagia services in specific knowledge and skill areas immediately following graduation, they reported high confidence levels with respect to their actual service delivery. Implications of these findings are discussed.

This study examines the relationships between the bonding style of an incarcerated adolescent with parents and his/her current feelings of self-esteem, hopelessness, and suicidal thoughts and attempts. It also investigates differences between bonding to mother and bonding to father. Some 296 incarcerated adolescents were interviewed using the Parental Bonding Instrument. Significant relationships were found between youths' self-esteem, hopelessness, and suicidal behavior and their bonding style. Youths whose parent(s) had a parental bonding style of affectionless control reported the greatest distress, and youths whose parent(s) had an optimal bonding style reported the least distress. Differences were found between bonding styles with the mother and with the father. Attachment theory may be useful in targeting incarcerated youths who have affectionless control bonding with parent(s) for special interventions since these youths are most at risk for psychosocial problems.
