Abstract The paper concerns specific features of exploration, geographical recognition, exploitation of natural resources, and economy of the archipelago. Development of the Svalbard system of nature protection areas and its impact on the environment and human activity is shown. Both the natural environment and Norwegian national interests are perfectly protected in Svalbard. Classical physico-geographical research was lost in significance to biological investigations (or to environmental science in the aspect of biotic components). Research activity in the human geography of Svalbard has mostly declined.

The tendencies in the development of the scientific-methodological and educational-methodical sphere related to the problems of deepening ecological knowledge, the ecologization of the spheres of productive and non-productive activities and education in particular, are analyzed. The world tendencies and main features of the current situation in environmental education in Ukraine are outlined. The necessity of entering the world standards of studying and assessing the state of the natural environment and the human environment is emphasized. The scheme of methodological structuring and improvement of the new in Ukraine, but well-established in European countries, the field of research and practical knowledge - environmental science – is presented. The environmental science is concerned with the study of all levels of the natural environment, from the cosmic to the intracellular, as well as all levels of the anthropic environment, from the technogenic to the productive, from the socio-cultural to the spiritual-aesthetic. A unique phenomenon of nature is the recognition of multi-level biotic – intra-ecosystem and intra-organismal environments. The subject matter of environmental science is constituted by the scientific foundations of the balanced coexistence of the medium-forming animate and inanimate natural systems and the human community, the methods of rational use of real-energy natural resources for the benefit of mankind without the destruction of the environment. The environmental science aims at the development and promotion of reasonable principles of coexistence of natural and social medium-forming systems in the environment in order to preserve the possibility of satisfying present and future generations of their material and non-material needs. As a system of knowledge, the science of the environment is filled with new information about the evolutionary unity of the material inanimate and living world, the role of science and spirituality in its understanding and preservation. Based on modern scientific and philosophical principles, the perception and importance of the biotic systems, biodiversity and eco-means of all levels is grounded. The environmental science studies the history of the emergence of the human population, its transformation into planetary geological force. Various spheres of human activity are considered, such as urbanization, social hygiene and health, agricultural production, food supply and threats typical of these activities. An inseparable part of education in environmental science is the knowledge of physical real-energy resources and the values of stability of inanimate medium-forming systems. Here, it is necessary to obtain geological knowledge, to study atmospheric phenomena, climate, water resources, natural disasters, as well as ways to control and protect them from pollution, destabilization or depletion. The current section of environmental science deals with the problems of civilization development and the latest achievements in such areas as renewable and safe energy, minimization and neutralization of solid and toxic waste, sustainable urbanization, non-destructive for environment and resources economics, balanced policies and legislation. Nonetheless important is active and optimistic promotion of the necessity to introduce principles of sustainable (eco-safety) development in all spheres of human activity, the formation of the mindset on the inevitability of transition to an economical way of life of an individual and civilization, the need to take an active civil position in society to preserve the environment. The list of priority disciplines for obtaining an education in the specialty of Environmental Protection Technologies is given. It is emphasized that the differentiation of the spheres of research and the study of general ecology and environmental science will allow us to streamline and improve the quality and pace of the ecologization of public consciousness. The implementation of above mentioned ideas will improve the results of environmental and nature protection activities, and will also contribute to the ongoing ecological research.

In the literature, the qualities of the natural environment are commonly indicated as a factor conducive to development. The main objective of the paper is an attempt to assess the development of the SME sector in valuable natural areas and its potential in shaping the socio-demographic processes of these areas, which are a kind of barometer for the development of a specific territory. The research covered five districts of the Podkarpacie region with the largest share of areas covered by various forms of nature protection – over 60%. These districts include: Bieszczadzki – 100%, Leski – 98.2%, Sanocki – 82.5%, Przemyski – 70.7%, Krośnienski – 63.4%. The comparative analysis covered the years 2013-2017. The research shown that theoretical advantages resulting from possessing valuable natural resources do not translate into the development of economic functions. Despite the high rate of enterprises per 10,000 inhabitants, their potential is too weak impetus for economic development (entities employing up to 10 persons dominate, of which a large part is made up of self-employed, economically weak firms). This results in a low attractiveness to live in these areas and unfavourable demographic processes.

The article has exhibited that ecoengineering, consisting of the scheduled transformation of ecological systems is an alternate and equivalent method for handling natural environment in contrary to environmental technology, which consists of ecosystems protection against human activity. The human activity in the natural environment may consist of devastating, transforming, or protection trials. In a frame of protection (environmental technology) are attempts on limiting anthropopression, which means the influence of man on the natural environment by various restrictions - technological, legal, and ethical. Up to now transforming natural environment was considered as a necessary evil, connected with the technological impossibility to avoid anthropopression or political necessity to satisfy human needs. The attention of researchers engaged in human activities in the natural environment was focused on criticizing of destruction and diverse propositions to stop this destruction, mainly by protectoral actions. Transforming the environment by man was generally considered a part of the destruction process. So there were trials of counteractions or tolerating it as unavoidable, trying to diminish their effect on the natural environment. Positive possibilities connected with planned and system ie transformation of the natural environment were not noticed, especially possibilities of achieving a compromise between human and nature needs. That such a compromise is possible is proving described there in detail examples of Konin lakes and Biebrza swamps. Ecoengineering conception presented in this dissertation generally values up environment transforming, that therefore is a no more necessary evil but becomes an equivalent and alternate action to environment technology (nature protection). Justification of this thesis is achieved by the demonstration that actions limited to environment technology only can be equally destructive for the environment as out of control wastewaters and pollution dumping. This is demonstrated in the article by an example of Sudety forests, devastated by acid rains and the problem of increasing deficit of sulfur in the soil, caused by introducing Sulphur removing from waste gas technology on a mass scale. The article has exhibited that absolute separation of industrial activity from the natural environment is not possible, that is total anthropopression eliminating. Speaking colloquially closing „anthropopression dragon" in a hermetic cave and draw only consumer satisfaction is not possible. Unavoidable is anthropopression connected with emissions of different forms of energy (heat, noise, electromagnetic fields) and matter (steam, carbon dioxide, wastes) and physical biotopes transforming. The only way in this situation is to incorporate anthropopression sources into ecosystems and turn wastes into fertilizers using ecoengineering. To this goal are tending eventually activities realized in frames of Pure Production and environment managing system according to ISO 14001, propagated today as balanced development conception, and diverse forms of so-named active protection, that can be considered as not fully conscious, limited ecoengineering. More, subsequent operations in environmental technology, from that every one eliminates negative effects of previous, are giving ecoengineering effects too, that is including human activity into the natural environment and creation of new, unstable ecological balances. An example can serve discussed in the article sequence of environment technologies: dust removal - desulphurization - production and distribution of sulphuric fertilizers. Method of such „successive environment technologies approximating to eco-engineering" is however much more costly and dangerous form an and nature than could be preamplified ecoengineering practice, what was pointed out too. The ethical basis for ecoengineering could be the principle „we have the right to be there". The biggest transformation of our planet's environment was the replacement of the atmosphere from oxygen-free to oxygenated realized by blue-green algae (Cyanophyta). There is no cause to regard human rights as lesser than algae rights.  The author of the article has no intention to claim that ecoengineering is better and more perfect practice than environment technology, who therefore should withdraw and be neglected. Ecoengineering as proceeding equivalent and alternative to environment technology should be considered as equal in every situation where a given ecosystem is influenced by anthropopression. Therefore in this dissertation ecoengineering is not discussed individually but in contact with environment technology as „alternative ecoengineering". Only by considering and deciding about ecoengineering alternatives we can choose the more appropriate method of handling with the natural environment. The author assumes that this is the only method that makes possible correct environment evaluation and selection of the best possible technology. Ecoengineering conception based on creating unstable biological balances, formulated as an ecoengineering alternative is significant, new contribution to systems sozology and other philosophical disciplines connected with ecological problems - philosophy of nature, philosophy of technology, and ecophilosophy and ecological ethic. That situation creates a wide perspective for farther researches, primarily connected with the elimination of one-sided environment technology from sozology, ecophilosophy, and environmental ethics and next creating ethical rules Environment transforming. It seems that ecoengineering may give significant research impulse for the philosophy of technology, which will intensify conceptions of valuating technology, today criticized. Extensive possibilities for researches are connected with precision and developing aspects diverse of ecoengineering as interdisciplinary and system ie science, that in this dissertation, focused on motivating ecoengineering could be signaled only. Ecoengineering can be currently utilized in engineers and designers practice and in environment evaluating system s, provided that corresponding procedures and research methods are created within detailed sciences. There are existing also wide possibilities to explore, discover, and research spontaneous ecoengineering effects, that so far have escaped researchers' notice. Similar site surveys can be run in other parts of Poland or other lands. Therefore yielding conclusions can lead to significant theoretical revaluation and substantially change existing engineering and legal practice. The main research problem is ecosystem modeling for ecoengineering needs. Ecoengineering is a new chance for humanity and nature.

Introduction. The processes of globalization and social transformation have made environmen-tal conservation a priority, and therefore require some action to be taken to address environ-mental issues and the rational use of natural resources. The solution of the existing problems depends to a great extent on the functioning efficiency of the financial security system established in the country, the established composition and the volume of financing sources and certain directions of their use, which necessitates their scientific-based analysis. The purpose of the study is to investigate the state of financing environmental measures in Ukraine, to study the directions, dynamics and structure of costs for environmental protection, identifying features of financing environmental protection. Results. The comprehensive analysis of the dynamics of costs for environmental protection and rational use of natural resources is carried out. The main components of environmental expenditures are identified. Costs for environmental protection and rational use of natural resources by financing sources have been structured. The dynamics and structure of capital investments by nature conservation measures are investigated. The dynamics of the share of expenditures for environmental protection and rational use of natural resources in the GDP of Ukraine, as well as the share of capital investments (environmental) in the structure of capital investments of Ukraine are analyzed. The features of the current state of financing environmental protection and rational use of natural resources are highlighted. Conclusions. The results of the research made it possible to identify the main problems in the field of financial support for environmental protection and to outline the ways of their solution. The necessity of investments mobilization into nature protection activity is proved through development of appropriate means of economic stimulation and their legislative fixing, which will allow to solve the problem of financial support of environmental protection by diversification of financing sources. Natural scientists have proposed that humankind has entered a new geologic epoch. Termed the “Anthropocene,” this new reality revolves around the central role of human activity in multiple Earth ecosystems. That challenge requires a rethinking of social science explanations of organization and environment relationships. In this article, we discuss the need to politicize institutional theory as a means understanding “Anthropocene Society,” and in turn what that resultant society means for the Anthropocene in the natural environment. We modify the constitutive elements of institutional orders and a set of main change mechanisms to explore three scenarios around which future Anthropocene Societies might be built—Collapsing Systems, Market Rules, and Cultural Re-Enlightenment. Simultaneously, we use observations from the Anthropocene to expose limitations in present institutional theory and propose extensions to remedy them. Overall, this article challenges organizational scholars to consider a new paradigm under which research in environmental sustainability and social sustainability takes place.

At the global level, due to the negative effects of over-exploitation of natural resources, numerous processes and initiatives for their conservation and sustainable governance have started. The beginning of the transition process, as well as political and economic changes that followed in the countries in transition, were in line with the new orientation of the international forest and nature protection policy. The transition process has caused, among other things, a redefinition of the role of government in managing natural resources. This meant a shift from ?government? to ?governance? concept. This concept refers to the change from the classical approach of ?command and control? to active participation of all involved parties and establishing rules for the division of responsibilities and benefits. The aim of the paper is to identify, analyze and systematise the current concepts of sustainable governance in forestry and nature protection, their characteristics and the principles on which they are based, with a main purpose of preparation of a research platform for more detailed research in this area. The paper gives recommendations for the application of the principles of governance in forestry and nature protection, as well as recommendations for future research in this area.

The paper presents the research results on conflicts in the forestry sector. The theoretical framework of the research is based on the belief that conflicts are a universal phenomenon. The basic constituents of conflicts are elements and aspects. The elements of conflicts are the substance, processes and relations between participants, which affect the social, cultural, institutional and economic aspects. They also include the aspect of natural resources, which is a feature of the forestry sector. Such a theoretical framework gave grounds for the analysis of employees' opinions about the type and significance and the stage in which the observed conflicts were. The opinions of the people employed in enterprises and organizations benefiting from state forests, protected areas and administrative state bodies in the forestry sector were collected through a survey. The data collected were processed using descriptive statistics. A lot of conflicting situations were identified and they were classified into 10 groups. The most serious one is the conflict between regular measures and works in the forest of nature protection. Nine participants were identified in these conflicts. It was found that some conflicts had been resolved, while some were in the latent phase, with the possibility to escalate.

AbstractThe article explores the natural context and the geographical conditions for developing tourism and for designing sectorial plans. The objective is to offer basic visual rendering as a resource for appreciating the natural environs in which the tourist activity evolves and use such resource as useful input during the planning and designing exercises. The methodology relies on the application of cartographic and spatial tools as instruments for recognising the territory and the natural landscape. The results render the current condition of natural resources and the territorial reality, as a general frame for proposing sustainable strategies of tourism planning. The contribution of the analysis can be appreciated amid the scarcity of local and specific cartographic analysis, and the precarious stock of inputs that could guide the tourism and the territorial planning in lagged territories. An overwhelming conclusion of our exercise is that the awarness and valuations of natural endowments are key elements for preserving the environment and for applying an adequate planning strategy in order to reconcile the economic necessities and the preservation of natural environment.

Indonesia is an emerald equator because of its strategic location, tropical climate, natural resources and cultural wealth. These potentials can improve the economy and welfare. However, the use of natural resources is done unwise. What can Christians do to overcome this problem? The perspective of the Christian faith regarding ecology, is the Great mandate that God gave to Adam and Noah to rule over all beings on earth. Theology does not only talk about God, but also talks about the relationship between humans and others and also the natural environment; keep and live side by side.

All natural objects (resources), which are declared as the absolute property of the Ukrainian people (all citizens) is established to be the main national wealth and the main unborrowed capital of the nation, including soils and other life-giving natural resources of Ukraine, which need rational use, require professional description, characteristics and classification (national accounting) in the process of institutional support for land reform in Ukraine. Emphasis is placed on the central character in ensuring the rational use of nature as an indispensable part of the constitutionally motivated requirements from the standpoint of national interests and each citizen in particular, which is recognized as «citizen-owner». It is proved that due to the unjustified absence for a quarter of a century of the constitutionally declared special Law of Ukraine «On the right to use natural objects of property of the Ukrainian people», which unpunished use of the nation’s capital. As a result, the rights, obligations and responsibilities of users of natural objects, as well as full-fledged requirements for their rational use and protection are not regulated on a paid basis according to the established regulations. This is especially true of fertile soils and other natural resources of the agrosphere. It is established that accomplished fact is cognitive land science and practice formulated by us in specific conditions of Ukrainian reality, which is the basis of our scientific and practical substantiation of institutional support for land reform in Ukraine as a new paradigm through «cognitive land economy» in terms of agri-environmental aspects.
