Abstract The amount of generated e-waste during the last decades has been steadily raising to the point at which it is highly desirable to obtain the precious metals by recycling the e-waste without the need of exploiting the environment. The rapid development of technology, steep growth of modern facilities with user-friendly electronical devices and a stiff competition between manufacturers are among the main reasons for decreasing the life span of such devices, and subsequently end up as an obsolete waste product. Rapid industrialization and urbanization have also caused many environmental problems, e.g. heavy metal contamination. Silver is one of the precious metals with exceptionally high industrial applications, which makes it an area of research of high interest. Demand for silver continues to grow with progress in the industrialized world, while the world reserves of high-quality silver ores are declining. Although, there are large stocks of low and lean quality silver ores still to be mined, the main goal of this article is to provide a simple, effective and eco-friendly method of silver recovery from e-waste, e.g. electrical circuit breakers using an electrochemical cell. After 20.75 days of the experiment, 1481.5 grams of silver contacts were processed with a final yield of 61.41 % grams of silver dendrite crystals (99.9 % purity).

Background: Grape (Vitis viniferaL.) is consumed by old world populations in its natural form and is used to produce wine or juice. Currently, China is the largest grape producer in the world. The red grapes stand out because of their phytochemical composition, more specifically their high resveratrol levels. Resveratrol is a compound that has a number of different beneficial effects on health and is mainly used in the food and cosmetic industries. Grape peel is a waste product and new strategies based on nanotechnology can minimize its environmental impact and add value to this residue. Objectives: The first objective of this study was to evaluate the technological potential of utilizing grape peel by researching and analyzing information extracted from patent documents filed worldwide in order to identify the main countries that hold the research technology, the main depositors and inventors, and the main areas of application. The second aim was to research and investigate grape peel products that have been created using nanotechnology. Methods: An analysis of all patented documents related to grape peel processes, products, or different industrial applications that may use nanotechnology was carried out. This was achieved by undertaking a Derwent Innovation Index (DII) database search. Results: A total of 752 patent documents were identified in the surveyed area. These were assessed for depositor country of origin, type of depositor, inventors, evolution of deposits over time, and areas of application. Only 6% of the total represented products and processes in the nanotechnology area. There was a growth in the number of patent filings from 2015, which showed that the researched area is a current and developing technology with new application possibilities. The main depositing countries were China, the United States, and Japan, which dominate the researched technology. The identified documents discussed using grape peel to develop new food, medical and dental products. Conclusion: Over the last few years, different approaches have been suggested for the production of nanoproducts based on grape peel. The results from this study showed that although incipient, nanotechnology is a promising area of research that can be explored by universities and companies because the products could have significant positive characteristics and, even though they are made out of a byproduct, have great application potential.

The Web-Based network management, making users manage the network and system expediently and simply, combining Web technology and modern distributed network management technology, which can also be updated and customized easily to meet the different needs, is an important direction of the development of the network management technology in the future. This paper proposes an a SNMP-based Web network management system using B/S structure, which has features of flexible structure, easily extensible, user-friendly features and so on.

Multiphase flows in porous media are important in many natural and industrial processes. Pore-scale models for multiphase flows have seen rapid development in recent years and are becoming increasingly useful as predictive tools in both academic and industrial applications. However, quantitative comparisons between different pore-scale models, and between these models and experimental data, are lacking. Here, we perform an objective comparison of a variety of state-of-the-art pore-scale models, including lattice Boltzmann, stochastic rotation dynamics, volume-of-fluid, level-set, phase-field, and pore-network models. As the basis for this comparison, we use a dataset from recent microfluidic experiments with precisely controlled pore geometry and wettability conditions, which offers an unprecedented benchmarking opportunity. We compare the results of the 14 participating teams both qualitatively and quantitatively using several standard metrics, such as fractal dimension, finger width, and displacement efficiency. We find that no single method excels across all conditions and that thin films and corner flow present substantial modeling and computational challenges.

Recent advances in personal computer hardware and the rapid development of spatial analysis software that is user-friendly on PC's has provided remarkable new tools for the analysts of plant diseases, particularly ecologically complex virus diseases. Due to the complexity of the disease cycle of the animal-vectored plant virus, these diseases present the most interesting challenges for the application of spatial analysis technology. While traditional quantitative analysis of plant diseases concentrated on within-field spatial analysis, often involving rather arcane mathematical descriptions of pattern, the new spatial analysis tools are most useful at the dimension where many disease epidemics occur, the regional level. The output of many of the programs used in spatial analysis is a highly visual picture of a disease epidemic which has a strong intuitive appeal to managers of agricultural enterprises. Applications by us, thus far, have included tomato, pepper and cotton virus diseases in Arizona. Mexico, California and Pakistan. In addition, this technology has been applied by us to Phytophthora infestans in potato and tomato. Aspergillus flavus in cotton, and regional insect problems of tomato and cotton.

BACKGROUND The use of Information Communication Technologies (ICT) in education promising from decades ago. There has been rapid development of different ICT tools to improve the quality of life of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). However, the process of developing a user friendly and effective tool such as mobile application needs to follow complex standard protocol, culture-sensitive customization, and multisectoral involvements. This complex work becomes more challenging for children with ASD in Low and Middle-Income Countries. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to develop a user-friendly mobile application for children with autism to improve numeracy skills in Rwanda. METHODS The application was developed through participatory action research involving educators and human-computer interaction researchers, subject matter expert clinicians, and target users. A comprehensive beta testing version of the application was developed that considered educators' feedback from focus groups, and observations of children with ASD when using the application. RESULTS In the findings of this study, the participants suggested three points to consider when designing the interface for children with ASD. (1) Graphic design principals, (2) User interface design, and (3) Success recognition and messages. The mobile application is believed to assist parents and educators to train and educate children with ASD to be able to learn, memorize and recognize the numbers that figure on coins used in Rwandan currency and participate in different economic activities in their families. CONCLUSIONS Overall, it has become clear that it is possible to develop mobile applications that respond to the needs of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders to eliminate the barrier of learning mathematical skills. Empowering skills of the use of ICT in teaching and support of learners with ASD inclusive environment can also bring the idea of features to be added into the developed application. This underscores the relevance of the needs of more assistive technologies to be developed in the response of each societal problems

The upstream watershed area is a very vital area because of its protective function for the entire watershed. One of the activities that develop quite rapidly in various upstream watersheds in Indonesia is a settlement. The rapid development of settlement activity has been frequently blamed for the decline in the hydrological function of watershed areas. In order to achieve sustainable development in the upper part of the watershed, it is necessary to develop settlements - which are often already grown - and manage the natural resources sustainably. Kampung Cikapundung, Suntenjaya Village, Lembang District, West Bandung Regency is one of the most rapidly increasing settlement area in the upstream part of Cikapundung River. In addition to its rapid development of the built environment, the activity of dairy farms in this village causes considerable negative impacts to Cikapundung River watershed downstream areas, especially through organic waste as the dairy farms waste product that floats on the body of Cikapundung River. The purpose of this paper is to assess the sustainability level of settlements in Kampung Cikapundung and formulate the direction of development. Eco Degree (E) rating model is used to assess the sustainability of settlement areas in Kampung Cikapundung. The results of the analysis show that the settlement areas are categorized as Semi Eco Settlements. Several suggestions are given as some efforts to create more sustainable settlements.

SISKA is an Academic Information System at Ganesha University of Education (UNDIKSHA) used for TESIS process. Starting from proposal submission, proposal seminar, pre thesis exam and thesis exam. So far the running application is still in web form. With so rapid development of Android-based applications, it will be made SISKA Android-based applications that will certainly make it easier for students and lecturers to access this application via Smartphone. In the development of this application will be used Eclipse commonly used for software development. Web-based SISKA application development into Android-based SISKA application provides a new look that is more user friendly, easy to use, and easy to access using smartphone

Abstract. Access to high quality weather and climate data is crucial for a wide range of societal and economic issues. It allows optimising industrial processes, supports the identification of potential risks related to climate change or allows the development of corresponding adaptation and mitigation strategies. Although such data is freely available through Germany’s national meteorological service DWD (Deutscher Wetterdienst) since 2017, the application potential in industry and society has certainly not yet been fully unlocked. Major obstacles are the complexity of the raw data, as well as missing tools for their simple integration into existing industrial applications. The goal of the research project FAIR is to simplify the information exchange between the DWD and economical players. In order to reach this goal a requirement analysis with end-users of weather data from three different sectors was conducted. A central requirement regarding the site assessment of wind plants is quick and easy access to historical wind-series at specific sites. Preferably downloadable in formats like CSV or via an API. Event planning partners are interested in a quick access to health relevant weather information at their event location, and the E-mobility sector in temperature data along planned routes. In this paper, we summarize the results of the requirement analysis and present the deduced technical architecture and FAIR services aiming at a user-friendly exchange of weather data.
