Environment for Meaningful Development of Reading Literacy in Pre-SchoolAt a time when the scope and influence of information technologies are rapidly increasing, the development of reading literacy becomes a challenge for teachers. Pre-school teachers have a special role in the development of reading literacy, because children display interest in the written text and the information it holds already in pre-school. It is thus important that the child's first encounter with text be pleasant and exciting, personally significant and applicable for reaching one's goals and satisfying one's needs in everyday life. Hence, the development of reading literacy in pre-school ought to be meaningful, which cannot be ensured in a traditional, teacher-focused learning environment. That is why the paper summarises the best practical experience in a meaningful development of reading literacy. The conclusion is reached that a meaningful development of reading literacy occurs in an environment specially designed by teachers with constructivism as its theoretical basis.

This article intends to describe a pattern of mentoring to shape the students of Ebenhaezer Theological Seminary (Ind. STTE) as servant leaders. This is motivated by the lack of the number of servants of God who can become a leader at the same time. There is also the view that a true leader is only born, not formed. There are many discussions about Servant Leader, but this article intends to discuss how to be mentored informing as a servant leader in the STTE. In this article, the author uses qualitative methods. To find this problem, the writer interviewed several students who were being formed in the STTE. The writer also tried to find a theoretical basis for nurturing or mentoring to form Servant Leaders and make them relevant in the formation of  Theology students. Based on this evaluation, it can be seen that effective tutoring or mentoring can help students become powerful Servant leaders.

The main goal of the chapter is to present how to use qualitative methods in sustainability research. First, the theoretical basis of the methods is presented, i.e., the essence of qualitative methods, what differs them from quantitative methods, and their types. The second part of this chapter covers designing and conducting a focus group interview (FGI): its essence and main stages, sampling, projection techniques and the script, as well as it contains the case study of ecological culture of Bulgarians. The third part presents considerations necessary to conduct a qualitative research, i.e., the organizational aspects of FGI and the guidelines for the work of the moderator. Finally, the last part shows considerations concerning data analysis—using CAQDAS software.

The research was motivated from the following question: would be this method of correction allowing the teacher to evaluate the students’ texts from these two mentioned concepts - authorship and subjectivity? The aim of this study was to check how the correction procedures evaluate the questions written by the students. For this analysis, we are going to use, as theoretical basis, the proposals of analysis mentioned in the curriculum of the city throughout the focus on written text production practices and the subjectivity considerations to the writing. To accomplish this work, a corpus made of corrections of short stories elaborated by students from Ciclo Autoral (Authoral Circle) was used, from the correction sheet presented by the Caderno da Cidade (city brochure). The results show that determined sheet correction gives room to dichotomous evaluatives answers by the teacher, such as “yes” or “no”, and do not help in order to the correction process allows to the teacher see the subjectivity marks of the student. It is concluded that such questioning of the subject does not highlight a deep evaluation of the student subjectivity and authorship, embracing a superficial part of the evidences of authorship and a vague conception of what subjectivity would be, and it can reveal a poor reflexive view of the correction process. Keywords: Curriculum. From many discussions on wilderness in literary works, only a few focus on the young adult dystopian, even more on Suzanne Collins’s The Hunger Games. For this reason, this article aims to portray the wilderness in the book as the survival resource since the previous studies fail to point out such an issue. This recent study is conducted by descriptive qualitative methods. As the theoretical basis, the discussion employs Garrard’s account of wilderness and Ross’s myth of wilderness in American literature. As a result, the discussion depicts the wilderness as the natural woodland surrounding District 12 and the artificial battleground of the Games in Panem. The woods in Katniss’s district enable her to provide for her family and develop such literacy in the wilderness. This literacy is advantageous in the Games arena, thus helps Katniss to be one of the winners. The findings might provide such an insight to the reader to live harmoniously with nature, even more with the wilderness.

Various methods of video-enhanced microscopy combine TV cameras with light microscopes creating images with improved resolution, contrast and visibility of fine detail, which can be recorded rapidly and relatively inexpensively. The AVEC (Allen Video-enhanced Contrast) method avoids polarizing rectifiers, since the microscope is operated at retardations of λ/9- λ/4, where no anomaly is seen in the Airy diffraction pattern. The iris diaphram is opened fully to match the numerical aperture of the condenser to that of the objective. Under these conditions, no image can be realized either by eye or photographically. Yet the image becomes visible using the Hamamatsu C-1000-01 binary camera, if the camera control unit is equipped with variable gain control and an offset knob (which sets a clamp voltage of a D.C. restoration circuit). The theoretical basis for these improvements has been described.

This report describes an unusual and persistent dysphonia in two young women who had taken a therapeutic regimen of isotretinoin for intractable acne. We report perceptual and instrumental data for their dysphonia, and pose a theoretical basis for the relationship of dysphonia to this drug. We also provide recommendations for reducing the risk of acquiring a dysphonia during the course of treatment with isotretinoin.

Abstract The syndrome of unilateral neglect, typified by a lateralized attention bias and neglect of contralateral space, is an important cause of morbidity and disability after a stroke. In this review, we discuss the challenges that face researchers attempting to elucidate the mechanisms and effectiveness of rehabilitation treatments. The neglect syndrome is a heterogeneous disorder, and it is not clear which of its symptoms cause ongoing disability. We review current methods of neglect assessment and propose logical approaches to selecting treatments, while acknowledging that further study is still needed before some of these approaches can be translated into routine clinical use. We conclude with systems-level suggestions for hypothesis development that would hopefully form a sound theoretical basis for future approaches to the assessment and treatment of neglect.
