This study aimed to evaluate the current status of the internship assessment in medical colleges of Bangladesh. Internship acts as the pathway from being a medical student to becoming a registered doctor. Hence, a rigorous and robust internship leads to producing better doctor and in turn better healthcare. Thus, proper assessment is necessary to ensure the quality of the future medical practitioners. Unfortunately, no study has been done in Bangladesh related to this context. A cross-sectional descriptive study with pre-tested self-administered questionnaires covering study place and population and factors relevant to intern assessment (assessment after each major discipline completion, assessment techniques, and feedback) was performed. The study was carried out in 8 medical colleges (4 public and 4 non-government; 4 inside Dhaka and 4 outside). 300 completed questionnaires (250 interns, 50 supervisors) were analyzed. All the collected data were analyzed and presented with SPSS v 19.0 software. Results revealed that there was no assessment present after completion of major placement rotation (about 54% interns and 24% teachers). Furthermore, only logbook was signed as the prevailing assessment technique (more than 66% interns and 72% doctors). Moreover, assessment feedback system was not fully functional (48.7% respondent views). Hence, the overall scenario is shabby and poses questions on our future doctors' skill set.Bangladesh Journal of Medical Education Vol.8(1) 2017: 14-17

Abstract The article reveals the current status of the quality assurance development in the training process of the European Union (EU) border guard agencies. Besides, the study aims to describe the prospects for further quality assurance development of the border guards training in the EU countries. The views of scientists on the concepts of “quality assurance and control” and “quality of training” were critically studied. The quality of a border guard’s training was defined as a set of knowledge, skills and competencies of a border guard, including a border guard’s personal qualities, characteristics, which define a person as a specialist in the sphere of the state border protection and distinguishes him or her from other specialists and ensures success along the border guard career path. The study of the quality assurance system of border guards’ training in the EU countries revealed that it is conducted by the European policies and educational and training standards and promotes the formal certification and external accreditation of border guards’ training. It is indicated that the prospects for developing quality assurance mechanism for all-European border guard courses are connected with the possibility to provide external accreditation for such courses as: Introduction to Educational Technology and Training Delivery Methodology, which the author completed in 2017 and 2018. The process of accreditation is being conducted by an international quality assurance agency. The quality assurance system of the border guards training in EU is used in the Joint European Master’s Program in Strategic Border Management, developed by FRONTEX Agency in cooperation with European educational establishments. So, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine can be particularly interested in this program, in order to facilitate the increasing of quality of Ukrainian border guards training.

ABSTRACT Objective: to reflect on the concept of health of the human being from the ecosystem perspective. Method: qualitative, descriptive study of theoretical-philosophical reflection on health in analogy with authors who discuss the ecosystemic thinking, the human being and its health. References were made to the concept of health of the human being in the light of ecosystemic principles, specifically, verifying its applicability in their daily life. Results: it was evidenced that the health of the human being needs to be understood in its multiple aspects. Thus, health, in its entirety, is not reducible to any of its dimensions, be it biological, psychological, social, spiritual, individual or collective. Conclusion: it is emphasized that the health of the human being is not only the absence of disease, but the incessant search for the balance of human needs anchored in the set of relations of the elements that constitute the ecosystem in which one lives, works and develops. This is not only a close affinity between the two, but the human being itself is an integral part of the ecosystem with which it interrelates and causes changes along with the other constituent elements of that reality.
