Yoga is an ancient practice with Eastern roots that involves both physical postures (Asanas) and breathing techniques (Pranayamas). Yoga therapy for male sexual problems can effectively be treated through Yoga therapy, particularly with the help of Yoga poses and breathing exercises, Yoga has proven itself highly very effective in the treatment of a number of incurable and sometimes terminable diseases. Then again, Yoga's therapeutic effects are just a spin-off and supplementary. Yoga which has proved to be very effective in the treatment of many impossible and incurable diseases, the therapeutic effect of Yoga is only a by product and incidental. Problems related to sex can very well be handled with Yoga as most often these problems are more related to the mind than body. Either they are caused by lack of confidence or stress or fatigue or fear and very few times some physical cause is there. There is also a cognitive component focusing on meditation and concentration, which aids in achieving the goal of union between the self and the spiritual. Although numerous empirical studies have found a beneficial effect of Yoga on different aspects of physical and psychological functioning, claims of Yoga's beneficial effects on sexuality derive from a rich but no empirical literature. The goal of this article is to review the philosophy and forms of Yoga, to review the no empirical and (limited) empirical literatures linking Yoga with enhanced sexuality, and to propose some future research avenues focusing on Yoga as a treatment for sexual disorder.

Abstract The practice of yoga was born in India thousands of years ago and brought to North America gradually beginning in the 20th century. The traditional practice of yoga is spiritual in nature with an intention of purifying the mind and body, leading to an alleviation of suffering through connection with the Divine (i.e., liberation). Yoga has gained widespread popularity in North America, but whether North American yoga practice includes an intention on the purification of the mind-body, in contemporary practice often described as a mind-body connection, has yet to be explored. This research study investigated North American yoga practitioners’ experiences of mind-body connection in their practices. Six yoga practitioners residing in North America were interviewed for this study. Interviews were audiorecorded and transcribed. Phenomenological analysis was conducted to produce the essence data, and thematic analysis was conducted to produce the contextual data. Phenomenological themes regarding the co-researchers’ experiences of mind-body connection in their yoga practices were identified and grouped into four textural essences: (1) the experience of breath, (2) local or internal experiences, (3) an increased sense of awareness and mindfulness, and (4) transcendental and spiritual qualities. Four structural conditions that allow practitioners to experience mind-body connection during yoga practice were identified: (1) breath, (2) physical asana, (3) practitioner intentionality, and (4) environmental conditions. Findings of the current study suggest a capacity for North American yoga practitioners to experience mind-body connection that is essential to traditional yoga practice.

Chapter One sets the foundation for an understanding of what yoga is and how that definition has changed over the last century, especially in the West. Beginning with an explanation of the original intention of yoga—that is, to yoke the mind, body, and spirit—this chapter will explore how the practice of yoga and music work synergistically to develop better body awareness, less physical tension, and greater physical and emotional well-being. After describing the types of poses and their benefits as well as how they may be sequenced for a well-rounded practice, sections on necessary supplies and safe practice tips will give pertinent information to teachers and students who are just beginning a yoga practice. Principles of breath, movement, and alignment are outlined so that teachers know what to watch for in their students and what cues to use as they begin to incorporate yoga postures into music lessons.

The Tibetan yoga practice known as “winds, channels, and inner heat” (rtsa rlung gtum mo) is physically challenging, and yet is intentionally designed to transform the mind. This chapter explores the relationship between Buddhist doctrine and this physical practice aimed at enlightenment through the teachings of a contemporary yoga master at Namdroling Tibetan Buddhist Monastery and Nunnery in Bylakuppe, Karnataka, South India. This ethnographic profile exemplifies the role of a modern Tibetan lama who teaches a postural yoga practice and interprets the text and techniques for practitioners. While many modern postural yoga systems are divorced from religious doctrine, Tibetan Buddhist yoga is not. This essay highlights three key areas of Buddhist doctrine support the practice of Sky Dharma (gNam chos) yoga at Namdroling: (1) The history and legacy that accompany the practice, which identify the deity of Tibetan yoga as a wrathful form of Avalokiteśvara, the Buddha of compassion; (2) The role of deity yoga in the practice of Tibetan yoga, where the practitioner arises as the deity during yoga practice, an all-consuming inner contemplation; and (3) The framing of Tibetan yoga within the wider philosophy of karma theory and its relationship to Buddhist cosmology. Practitioners of Tibetan yoga endeavor to burn up karmic seeds that fuel the cycle of rebirth in the six realms of saṃsāra. In Tibetan yoga, the body acts in service of the text, the philosophy, and the mind to increasingly link the logic of texts to experience in meaningful ways.

During pregnancy, the mother may have a different experience based on many factors. The purpose of this study was to explore the experience of pregnant women in Indonesia. Some studies establish to explore experience during pregnancy in a particular area. However, limit number study underlined the experience in the general area. A descriptive phenomenological study was used to explore the experience of pregnant women during pregnancy. Purposive sampling, one-on-one, in-depth with semi-structural interviews were conducted to collect data. Narratives were analyzed by Colaizzi’s (1978) seven-step method. Data saturation was achieved after interviewing 3 pregnant women. Four themes and the sub-themes were : having feelings (happy for pregnancy coming true and worry about cannot have vaginal delivery), changes in physical condition (evening sickness, appetite changes, difficult sleep, and eating pattern have to change), deal with pregnant physical condition (lying down when vomiting and changing the meals time), ensure pregnancy safety (seeking help from husband, continuous monitoring of fetal head’s position, pay attention to changes in body weight, and pay attention to the data of hemoglobin). This finding presents the evidence for midwives to the importance of understanding the feeling and experience of the mother during pregnancy. If this condition is allowed, sleep will become difficult. People who have difficulty of sleeping are called insomnia. Therefore, on this study was carried out with the title "Insomnia: How Yoga Overcome It."

The formulation of the problem presented in this study concerns three things, namely 1) why do people who experience insomnia may be viewed from the yoga perspective? and 2) how does yoga overcome insomnia? Both problems are elaborated by applying the theory of yoga which was assisted by several methods. In collecting the data, the observation and the interviews were utilized, while in describing and analyzing the data, the descriptive and the interpretative method were applied.

According to the study, the insomnia is part of dhuka telu 'three types of suffering /pain', namely adyatmika dhuka pain caused by inability to control the nature and fluctuations of mind '. For this reason yoga has a way of overcoming it with the practice of abhiyasa and wairagya 'patience, diligence and sincerity in practicing yoga'. The form of asanas that is very influential in overcoming insomnia is doing a series of Surya Namaskara movements with its prenatal system, relaxing by taking savasana and the Gayatri Mantram puja when starting the yoga practice and Prativi Stava when having relaxation.

Anatomy is a field of knowledge that studies the structure of the human body. A good understanding of anatomy and its relationship to asanas is essential so that yoga practitioners can keep their body safe, comfortable and the mind remains stable. Yoga has an integrated working principle in the human body. An important element that distinguishes yoga practice with other exercises is the linkage of breath, posture and movement. By the yogis, they are based on the concept of prana and apana; sthira and sukha; brahmana and laghana; and sukha and dukha. The flow of breath is associated with prana and apana, postural stability associated with sthira and sukha, and sukhaduhka and movements associated with brahmana and laghana.

Pregnant mother in the 3rd trimester usually experience sleep disorder caused by dis- comfort of pain on waist due to the enlargement of uterus to the anterior position. The decline of sleep duration of pregnant mother can also make their condition and concentration decreased, experience fatigue, body feels stiff, mood swing, and tend to be emotional. This condition makes the pregnancy becomes more severe than before (Bambang BR, 2004). Therefore, acuyoga technique is applied in order toreduce insomnia. Acuyoga consists of breathing exercises, meditation, relax- ation, and using meridian points in the body to cope with stress and back pain that can cause insomnia in pregnant women. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of acuyoga techniques to insomnia complaints of 3rd trimester of pregnant women in traditional agricultural communities. The research method used pretest-posttest design with consecutive sampling tech- nique and the number of samples was 40 mothers divided into 4 groups, each group was given treatment 4times in 2 weeks. The measuring tool used the questionnaire and the ISI scale then ana- lyzed by paired sample t-test. The results of the study showed there were an effect of acuyoga tech- nique to insomnia in pregnant women with t count = 13.397 with ttable = 0.021. It was expected that acuyoga technique could be one of the techniques to reduce insomnia in pregnant women since it could relax the muscles in the body so that pregnant women felt comfortable.
