The task of this paper is to highlight some of the marriage relationship tendencies that have changed in the modern African Marriage, in relation to the traditional norms, as manifest in two texts of two African Feminist writers. The study thus examines how Ama Ata Aidoo’s Changes and Chimamanda N. Adichie’s Purple Hibiscus explore the marriage institution in Africa and unearth the changing dynamics in it, as it pertains to the modern or post-modern African society. The study concluded that though the dignity of marriage coupled with its necessity as a social institution is unquestionably maintained in our focused African texts, its dynamics, in modern society, must yield to positive change, at least, to reflect the emerging socio-economic trends in African society today.

Postmodern society is predominantly viewed as a consumption- oriented society that developed as a reaction to the more traditional, modern society. The observed divide between modern and postmodern societies suggests different consumption patterns and consumer profiles which could have significant implications for service organisations. The discussion contrasted the modern and postmodern eras and societies, and isolated the main characteristics and service expectations of the postmodern consumer. The implications for organisation development (OD) in service organisations, notably in terms of the changes that are required, are highlighted.

Apart from that research is a vital pillar of higher education. Moreover, in knowledge society today, research is deemed to be of more value when it rightly augments the economic development processes. The present study highlights the health risk factor of heavy metals in cosmetics considering their habitual use in the society today. This safety assessment has become inevitable because of the high demand for these products which has resulted to flooding the markets with low quality cosmetics. Digestion was by 20 mL mixture of nitric acid (HNO3) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in the ratio of 3:1 and was heated in a hot plate for 2-3 hours at 90 °C. The choice of this mixture was informed by literature to yield the highest amounts in metal digestion. The mean metal concentrations of these products are; 1.2758, 0.9599, 0.1262, 0.0504 and 0.0068 mg/kg while the ranges are: 0.140-5.823, 0.054-3.908, 0.021-0.820, 0.028-0.071 and 0.001-0.236 mg/kg respectively for Mn, Ni, Cr, Cd and Pb. From the analysis, 40 %, 74.28 %, and 17.14 % of the products has Cd, Ni and Mn respectively exceeded the standard. Pb was not detected in majority of the products. Though cosmetic safety cannot be ascertained only by their heavy metal content, the present paper focuses solely on the contribution of heavy metals as a risk factor to the consumption of these products.

Tahfidz Islamic boarding school is a traditional boarding school that focuses on learning Islam and Quran. Recently, the need for this kind of school for junior and senior high school is increasing in Indonesia. One of the cities that has a high demand for that kind of education is Nganjuk. Nganjuk has many traditional Tahfidz boarding schools that are already running for decades. The design of the existing tahfidz schools is not suitable for modern life, while people nowadays search the school in a contemporary design. There is a paradox in this statement that people want a modern design for a traditional education method. The extending tradition design approach is the appropriate answer to this problem. This study aims to find the proper design for tahfidz boarding school using extending tradition design approach. The method for this design approach used tradition as the basic idea for the design and modified it to be suitable for modern society. The concept of the design is a tradition of togetherness, the culture of continuity, and tradition of socializing. The idea is appropriate for the tahfidz and the Islamic tradition values in modern life.
