Present study examined the relationship between stress among academic staff and students’ satisfaction of their performances in Payame Noor University (PNU) of Miandoab City, Iran in 2014. The methodology of the research is descriptive and correlation that descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. Statistical Society includes all staff of PNU of Miandoab and referrals were selected. Sample of the by Morgan’s table that includes 15 individuals academic staff of PNU of Miandoab and 150 individuals of their referrals were which have been randomly selected. The method of sample is random sampling. Data collected recent study via assessment Steinmetz occupational stress questionnaire and the questionnaire of measuring academic staff performance’s that made by the researcher. Cronbach’s alpha was used to determine the reliability of the questioners. The results of this study indicate that between two variables of stress among academic staff and establish of their effective communication with students is equivalent figure to R= 0.937 and the validity of the result is equal to P= 0.000 and between two variables of stress among academic staff and establish of their appropriate behaviors with students is equivalent figure to R= -0.237 and the validity of the result is equal to P= 0.325 as well as between the two variables of stress among academic staff and their responsibilities is equivalent figure to R= 0.941 and the validity of the result is equal to P= 0.000 On the basis of this finding, it is recommended that workshops, seminars and conferences on techniques of stress management for all academic staff by unit management to promote mental health of academic staff.

Background: This study investigated the relationship between occupational stress and the mental health of people working in oil fields in the arid desert environment of Xinjiang, and revealed the causal relationship between occupational stress and psychological disorders, while furthermore exploring the relationship between psychological disorders and genetic levels.Methods: The participants of this study included oil field company workers from the Xinjiang Petroleum Administration of Karamay City, Xinjiang, who underwent occupational health examinations. The Occupational Stress Inventory Revised Edition (OSI-R) was used to measure the occupational stress of the oil workers. The mental health status of oil workers was evaluated using the Symptoms Checklist-90.Results: Occupational tasks: The total scores of the personal strain and mental health questionnaires were positively correlated with somatization, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, hostility, terror, paranoia, and psychosis (P < 0.05). Individual coping resources and the mental health total score was negatively correlated with somatization, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, interpersonal sensitivity, anxiety, hostility, terror, paranoia, and psychosis. The following factors were identified as mental health risk factors: female gender; age 45 and above (relative to ≤30 years old); high scores on the personal strain questionnaire; occupational stress; external effort; internal investment; and high effort-low return. The following factors were identified as protective factors for mental health: Han nationality; oil transportation (relative to drilling); individual resilience; and work returns. In respect to the abnormal psychological group and the normal psychological group, statistically significant differences were found in the distribution of genotypes and allele frequencies at the rs1800497 locus (P < 0.05). The depression and paranoia scores observed between different genotype groups at the rs1800497 locus were statistically significant (P < 0.05).Conclusions: This study shows that occupational stress and the D2 dopamine receptor (DRD2) gene have an impact on the mental health of oil field workers in the arid desert environment of Xinjiang. Effort-reward imbalance and occupational stress were identified as risk factors for mental health, while rewards for work were protective factors. Higher levels of occupational stress may lead to depression and other psychological disorders, adversely affecting mental health. In oil field operators in the arid desert environment of Xinjiang, the AA genotype of the DRD2 gene in the rs1800497 locus was identified as a genotype specific to susceptibility to mental health problems, and a correlation was found between the A allele and an increased risk of psychological problems. Therefore, it is necessary to devise relevant measures to alleviate occupational stress among oil workers and increase their job rewards, so as to improve their mental health.

Paska terjadinya bencana, penyintas mengalami beberapa fase bencana yang dapat mengarah pada masalah psikologis akibat peristiwa traumatik. Kemampuan resiliensi yang dihasilkan berdasarkan kecerdasan emosi penyintas diperlukan dalam fase pemulihan bencana. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan karakteristik dan kecerdasan emosi dengan resiliensi pada penyintas banjir. Penelitian deskriptif analitik ini dilakukan di Desa Cemara Kulon dengan stratified random sampling pada 122 penyintas bencana banjir Indramayu dengan menggunakan instrumen Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test dan Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale. Hasil analisis menunjukkan terdapat hubungan antara pendidikan (p= 0,033) dan kecerdasan emosi (p= 0,000) dengan resiliensi. Penyintas dengan ke-cerdasan emosi tinggi memiliki peluang lebih besar untuk beresiliensi dengan baik. Oleh karena itu asuhan keperawatan jiwa dengan mengacu pada kecerdasan emosi penyintas diharapkan dapat membuat penyintas dalam kondisi yang resilien di fase pemulihan bencana. Kesegeraan asuhan keperawatan jiwa dan edukasi kesehatan jiwa paska bencana juga diharapkan dapat menurunkan angka kejadian dampak psikologis paska bencana. Kata kunci: banjir, Indramayu, kecerdasan emosi, penyintas, resiliensi The Relationship of Emotional Intelligence and Resilience of the Flood Survivor’s. Post-occurrence of disaster makes survivors experienced several phases of disaster that could lead to mental health problems because as a result of traumatic event. Resilience with the role of emotional intelligence is needed in post-disaster recovery phase. This study aims to determine the relationship between the characteristics of the flood survivors and their emotional intelligence with resilience. Analytic descriptive study was conducted in Cemara Kulon with stratified random sampling on 122 flood Indramayu survivors. The instruments used in this study were Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale. The result showed there were bound relationship between education (p= 0.033) and emotional intelligence (p= 0.000) with resilience. Survivors with high emotional intelligence have greater opportunities to resilience well. Therefore the mental health nursing care shall refer to the survivors’ emotional intelligence so that survivors will be resilient in the recovery phase of disaster. The urgency of mental health nursing care and education on post-disaster is expected to reduce the incidence of post-disaster psychological impact. Keywords: emotional intelligence, flood, Indramayu, resilience, survivor

This study examined the relationship between employee rewards on work engagement of non-academic staff in a public University in Uganda. Specifically, the study analyzed relationship between intrinsic rewards and extrinsic rewards with work engagement of the support staff. Using a quantitative approach, the study adopted the correlational research design. Data were collected using a questionnaire survey. Data analysis involved descriptive and inferential statistics. The descriptive statistics were means while the inferential statistics included correlation and regression analysis. Descriptive results revealed that while the respondents rated intrinsic rewards, vigour and dedication high, absorption and extrinsic rewards were moderate. Inferential analyses revealed that both intrinsic and extrinsic rewards had a positive and significant relationship with work engagement. It was concluded that both intrinsic and intrinsic rewards are essential for work engagement of employees. Therefore, it was recommended that management of universities such as human resource directorates should design jobs that offer intrinsic rewards to employees and provide extrinsic rewards that are attractive to employees.

This paper explores the relationship between emotional intelligence and psychological well-being among hearing-impaired students. Emotional intelligence consists of five dimensions namely intrapersonal, interpersonal, adaptability, stress management and general mood. A total of 130 hearing-impaired students were chosen as participants via simple random sampling at four polytechnics in Malaysia. The Bar-On Emotional Quotient: Short (EQ-i: S) and Ryff‘s Psychological Well-Being instruments were utilised to measure emotional intelligence and psychological well-being. It was found that in general, hearing impaired students have moderate emotional intelligence level and psychological well-being. Results also found that intrapersonal, interpersonal and adaptability dimensions correlated significantly with psychological well-being. No correlations were found between stress management and general mood dimensions with psychological well-being. Though limited by their ability to speak and to hear, emotional intelligence among hearing-impaired students does play a role in enhancing their individual capability to learn and to experience positive psychological well-being in life.

The objective of the present scholarly work was to test the relationship between mental health, resilience, and happiness among the high school students. The study was conducted in a private school student from Tanzania. The sampling was based on random sampling technique. The design of the study is survey based cross-sectional research design. The correlation results show that mental health, happiness, and resilience are positively associated. The findings lead to the conclusion that if an individual possess sound mental health, so his/her resilience will be improved and he/she will be in better position to adjust in different situations.

The level of stress among academics in higher education institutions has significantly increased over the past decade. Mental health and well-being of academics can be affected once they are exposed to stressful work conditions and use negative coping strategies. This study was set against the backdrop of the pandemic disease, COVID-19, which has challenged the daily work of academics and risen to the various new stressors. This study aims to investigate the current status of occupational stress, coping styles, mental health and emotional well-being of university academics during the COVID-19 outbreak in Northern Ireland, and examine the effect of stress and coping strategies on mental health and emotional well-being. A cross-sectional online survey was conducted using a sample size of 87 academic staff working in a university in Northern Ireland. SPSS version 25 was used to analyse the collected data. The results showed academics experienced moderate stress levels, and distraction behaviours were the most common form of coping mechanism. Academics were in the moderate status of mental health and poor emotional well-being. Occupational stress has a significant effect on mental health and emotional well-being. Positive reframing and acceptance coping styles have an impact on emotional well-being. This study contributes to the understanding of occupational stress, coping strategies, mental health and emotional well-being of academics in higher education in Northern Ireland. The findings can help to develop reliable methods to inform policy on health and well-being for university academics, which in turn lead to increased productivity at work.

Introduction: Occupational stress is one of the most important phenomena in the workplace. Mental health, as an important factor in all personal, social, and occupational life aspects, is one of the areas of interest in mental health. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between job stress and mental health among workers of central iron ore in Bafgh City, Iran. Methods: This was a descriptive correlational study. The statistical population included 2400 people (1600 workers and 800 employees) working in central Bafgh iron ore in 2014. The sample size was estimated as 331 using the Morgan and Krejcie table. Approximately, 216 persons were employed in the labor sector and 115 in the employment sector. Data collection tools included the Goldberg general health questionnaire (GHQ) and Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS). The DASS was designed in three parts. The first part included demographic data (7 items). The second section had 28 questions and dealt with the participants' general health status. The third part included 42 questions and was about occupational stress. Later, Spss21 was used and Pearson correlation coefficient and regression tests were run to analyze the data and test the hypotheses. Results: The results showed that mental health was higher in employees, while job stress was higher among the workers. This indicated a significant association between job stress and mental health in both employees and workers. However, regarding the demographic variables, only gender was related to mental health and rest of the demographic variables had no significant relationship with mental health and job stress (5≥participants). Conclusion: Occupational stress was related to mental health in employees and workers; this can affect the level of production and product quality. Furthermore, occupational tress and mental health not only affect the workers and employees, but also expose the society and other people at risk.  Consequently, it is necessary to plan and render different services at the occupation environment to decrease job stress and improve the current situation.

This article reports on the introduction of sessions on mental health, mental illness and stress management into the personal and social education programme of a lower sixth form. The mental health component aimed at giving a short historical perspective, insights into early psychological development and into the relationship between life events and vulnerability to mental illness, and information on the structure of the National Health Service and the voluntary sector with emphasis on the patient as consumer. The stress management part sought to offer strategies for coping with the changes arising characteristically in the 17–21 age group, namely autonomy, experimentation, setting one's own goals and dealing with one's own problems and disappointments. Questionnaires were used to record changes in knowledge and attitudes before and after the course, and the students also evaluated the effectiveness of the way in which the talks were delivered. Throughout the sessions, the importance of prevention, where possible, was highlighted.
