The cultivation of shallots in peat is constrained by the low level of soil fertility and one of methods to increase the nutrient content is by applying trichocompost. Trichokompos is material from plant residues that are composted and mixed with Trichoderma sp. as decomposers. Trichocompost improves soil fertility (soil biology, physics, and chemistry). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of trichocompost doses on various peat compositions on the yield of shallots. Research was conducted at the Experimental farm of Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of , Pekanbaru during 4 months, starting form June to September 2018. The design used was completely randomized factorial with 2 factors, namely Trichocompost Dose, levels 0, 4, 8, 12 g Trichoderma/kg compost and peat composition level: 100, 75, 50, 25%. Parameters tested: plant height, age of tuber formation, number of leaves, number of tubers, and tuber weight. The data were statistically analyzed and the BNJ follow-up test at 5% level. The results showed that the dose of trichocompost combined on peat had a significant effect on all observation parameters and the best treatment was 8-12 g trichoderma/kg compost at 75% peat composition.

Shallot production in Central Sulawesi recorded a decline from 8.651-8.362 tons, between 2017-2018. However, the use of an accurate composition of the planting medium serves as a possible alternative to boost the yield. Also, the introduction of organic matter tends to increase the nutrient content, influence the aeration, and subsequently leads to drainage. This study is aimed at determining the effect of plant media composition on shallot growth and yield. A randomized block design comprising 4 treatments, termed soil composition, husk charcoal, and goat manure. Each treatment was repeated at 5 times to achieve 20 experimental units. The results showed that the plant media composition indicated a significant effect on the parameters of plant height at age 4 and 6 Weeks After Plantings (WAP), quantities of leaves aged 4 WAP, tillers aged 6 WAP as well as tubers per clump. Similar impacts were also reported on plant height at 2 WAP, the number of leaves aged 2 and 6 WAP, fresh tuber weight, tuber diameter, accumulated weight loss, root length, and available moisture content. Furthermore, the addition of husk charcoal and manure at a volume ratio of soil: husk charcoal: manures = 2:1:1, tends to increase the quantities of leaves, tillers, tubers per clump, as well as plant height, fresh tuber weight, and shallot bulb diameter.

Nut grass is Cyperaceae group and underestimated its existence. Nut grass has many benefits so  potential to be developed. This study aims to determine the effect of planting media and the addition of NPK fertilizer to the growth of the nut grass and find out the nutrient content of chips made from nut grass tuber. The design of this study was factorial complete randomized design (RAL) which consisted of two factors. First factor is Planting Media, consist of M1 = soil, M2 = Soil: Sand (2: 1), M3 = Soil: Compost Fertilizer (2: 1) and M4 = Soil: Cage Fertilizer (2: 1) and second factor is fertilizer dosage NPK 15: 15: 15 with the level P1 = Without NPK fertilizer, P2 = 5 g NPK fertilizer, P3 = 10 g NPK fertilizer. Research result showed that the media significantly affected the number of clumps, root weight, clump weight, overall weight and number of flowers but did not significantly affect the height, number of tubers and tuber weight. Fertilizer significantly affected the number of clumps, root weight, clump weight, overall weight, number of flowers, number of tubers and tuber weight but did not significantly affect the height at P≤0.05 level. Interaction between planting media and NPK fertilizer did not significantly affect all parameters. Keywords: Chips, NPK Fertilizer, Nut Grass, Planting Media

Data suggest that radiation-induced cataracts may form without a threshold and at low-radiation doses. Staff involved in interventional radiology and cardiology fluoroscopy-guided procedures have the potential to be exposed to radiation levels that may lead to eye lens injury and the occurrence of opacifications have been reported. Estimates of lens dose for various fluoroscopy procedures and predicted annual dosages have been provided in numerous publications. Available tools for eye lens radiation protection include accessory shields, drapes and glasses. While some tools are valuable, others provide limited protection to the eye. Reducing patient radiation dose will also reduce occupational exposure. Significant variability in reported dose measurements indicate dose levels are highly dependent on individual actions and exposure reduction is possible. Further follow-up studies of staff lens opacification are recommended along with eye lens dose measurements under current clinical practice conditions.

Loss of soil fertility as a result of continuous cropping on the same piece of land has necessitated the need to improve soil fertility for better crop yields. Inorganic and organic fertilizers have been used to improve soil fertility, however, excessive use of soil amendments improve vegetative growth of plants thereby attracting large numbers of insect pests. Cow dung and poultry droppings were used as soil amendments in a field experiment using eggplant Solanum melongena. The effects of these organic manures were compared with inorganic fertilizer (NPK) and a control where there was no application of soil amendment in a randomized complete block design with 3 replicates. Parameters studied were pests’ and their numbers, plant height, number of leaves per plant, leaf area, stem girth and yield. The major insect pests identified on the plant were Bemisia tabaci, Aphis gossypii, Leucinodes orbonalis and Eublemma olivacea. Bemisia tabaci and Aphis gossypii scores were significantly larger on cow dung and poultry manure plots. Leucinodes orbonalis and Eublemma olivacea numbers were not significantly different on the treated and control plots. Mean plant height, number of leaves and yield differed significantly among the soil amended plots. Even though soil amendments improve the nutrient content of the soil and the yield of crops it could lead to increase in pests numbers and damage caused to plants.

Passionflower is a member of Passifloraceae family, it can be used as medicinal and ornamental plants in addition to its consumption as fruit in the world. Guava (Psidium guajava L.) fruits, which has a rich nutrient content, are consumed both fresh and processed. Passionfruit and guava plants, which can only be cultivated in temperate southern coasts in our country, have gained commercial importance because of the fruits' export potential, high medical importance and nutrient. This study was carried out to determine the effects of some bioactivator applications on the criteria of sapling growth and development of passionflower and guava plants. The experiment was conducted between 2018-2019 under greenhouse conditions. Saplings obtained from seed germination in Akdeniz University Faculty of Agriculture Research and Experiment Area were used as plant material. 3 different commercial preparations called Messenger, Crop-set and ISR-2000 were used as bioactivators. Plant height (cm), stem diameter (mm) and number of leaves (number / plant) were measured weekly, in order to determine the effect of the applications on the growth and development of saplings. At the end of the study, it was determined that the highest average plant height (10.17 cm), stem diameter (13.53 mm) were obtained in ISR-2000 application. The highest average plant height (11.93 cm), stem diameter (16.44 mm) and number of leaves (9.07 units / plant) were obtained from Messenger application in guava plant. When the results obtained are evaluated, it is recommended that ISR-2000 bioactivator can be applied in passionflower sapling cultivation and Messenger bioactivator can be applied for guava sapling cultivation.

Soybean (Glycine max L. Merrill) demand is high in Indonesia, however national production is low, therefore improving productivity is important. The research was aimed to determine the effect of application of biofertilizer containing N- fixing and P- solubilizing bacteria on the growth and production of soybean in lowland swamp. The experiment was conducted  at  Labuhan Ratu VI Village, District of Labuhan Ratu, East Lampung Regency from September to December 2014. The experiment was arranged in factorial randomized block design with three replications. N and P fertilizers were applied in four levels. Doses of N were 0, 11.25, 22.50, 33.75 kg ha-1, doses of P were 0, 36, 72, 108 P2O5 kg ha-1, in combination with and without biofertilizer application. The results showed that interaction between biofertilizer and N significantly affected number of branches and number of leaves at maximum vegetative phase. The influence of three types of fertilizer had no significant effect on the productivity of soybean in lowland swamp with soil pH of 7.0 and medium soil fertility. It is recommended to apply Biofertilizer + 11,25 kg N ha-1 + 36 kg P2O5 ha-1 to obtain high soybean production in lowland swamp area.<br /><br />Keywords: nitrogen, phosphate, productivity, soil fertility<br /><br />

As a consequence of global warming, rainfall is expected to increase in several regions around the world. This, together with poor soil drainage, will result in waterlogged soil conditions. <em>Brachiaria</em> grasses are widely sown in the tropics and, these grasses confront seasonal waterlogged conditions. Several studies have indicated that an increase in nutrient availability could reduce the negative impact of waterlogging. Therefore, an outdoor study was conducted to evaluate the responses of two <em>Brachiaria</em> sp. grasses with contrasting tolerances to waterlogging, <em>B. ruziziensis </em>(sensitive) and <em>B. humidicola</em> (tolerant), with two soil fertility levels. The genotypes were grown with two different soil fertilization levels (high and low) and under well-drained or waterlogged soil conditions for 15 days. The biomass production, chlorophyll content, photosynthetic efficiency, and macro- (N, P, K, Ca, Mg and S) and micronutrient (Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn and B) contents in the shoot tissue were determined. Significant differences in the nutrient content of the genotypes and treatments were found. An increase of redoximorphic elements (Fe and Mn) in the soil solution occurred with the waterlogging. The greater tolerance of <em>B. humidicola</em> to waterlogged conditions might be due to an efficient root system that is able to acquire nutrients (N, P, K) and potentially exclude phytotoxic elements (Fe and Mn) under waterlogged conditions.  A high nutrient availability in the waterlogged soils did not result in an improved tolerance for <em>B. ruziziensis</em>. The greater growth impairment seen in the <em>B. ruziziensis</em> with high soil fertility and waterlogging (as opposed to low soil fertility and waterlogging) was possibly due to an increased concentration of redoximorphic elements under these conditions.

Shallots (Allium cepa var. Aggregatum L) have many varieties that can be grown in the highlands and lowlands and one of them is the Batu Ijo variety. Nutrients N and K play an important role for plant needs. This research was conducted from March to June 2019 in Medan Baru, Bengkulu City. This study used a completely randomized design with two factors. The first factor was the dose of N fertilizer and the second factor was the application of K fertilizer. The application of N fertilizer had a significant effect on the number of shallots at week 2. The Urea dose given decreases the number of spring onions. For the best treatment at plant height is the treatment of Urea 300 kg/ha and KCl 50 kg/ha. Plant growth from week 2 to 5 increased significantly. The application of K fertilizer has an effect on the number of shallots at week 2 and the number of tubers. The higher the plant age, the more the number of leaves produced, but at higher doses, the number of leaves and the number of tubers decreased. The best treatment for the number of leaves produced was Urea 300 kg/ha and without giving KCl. For the best treatment of fresh plant weight, namely Urea 300 kg/ha and KCl 150 kg/ha, the best treatment fresh tuber weight was Urea 300 kg/ha and KCl 150 kg/ha, for tuber diameter the best treatment was 200 kg/ha of urea and KCl 100 kg/ha and for the number of tubers of Urea 0 kg/ha and KCl 150 kg/ha.Keywords: shallots, N fertilizer, K fertilizer

<p>The influence of long-term use of mineral and organic fertilizers, crop rotations, plant residues, soil treatment systems on humus content of common chernozems and stabilization of productivity of field crops in the arid conditions of the Middle Volga region is considered on the example of researches in the Samara area. The zone climate of field experiments is characterized as extremely continental. The sum of the active temperatures (above 10°C) is 2,800-3,000°C. The average annual rainfall is 454.1 mm with fluctuations over the years from 187.5 mm to 704.6 mm. At some years, precipitation does not happen within a month or more. Hydrothermal index in May-August is 0,7, the duration of the frost-free period is 149 days. If the humus content in the region is 4.35-4.52%, then, it is necessary to introduce 6.7-8.0 t/ha of manure per year to maintain the balance of the deficit. The introduction of biological methods for the conservation and reproduction of soil fertility (green fertilizers, perennial grasses, straw as fertilizer) reduces the loss of humus by 0.15-0.24 t/ha. This makes it possible to increase the payback of mineral fertilizers, which must be taken into account when developing fertility reproduction systems for soils. In the variants with minimal and differentiated cultivation of the soil during crop rotation in 30 years of the study, the loss of humus in the 0-30 cm layer decreased by 0.04 - 0.73% (43-789 kg per year with maximum values in the combination of direct seeding of spring crops with deep loosening for a number of crop rotations is 4.14%, significantly exceeding the control (by 0.54%). The decrease in soil fertility in the variants with constant plowing and minimal tillage contributed to an increase in the conjugation of productivity of crops with humus. Based on the research, in order to preserve the fertility of the soil of ordinary chernozem, it is necessary to use green fertilizer, leguminous perennial grasses. In the regional rotations of crop production, new generation technologies are recommended, the basis of which is differentiated tillage with the use of crushed straw as fertilizer.</p>

ABSTRACTThis study aims to determine effective management patterns to control Sclerotium rot and to improvepeat soil fertility with the application of the Trichoderma sp + Aspergillus sp consortium.as biologicalagents and P solvents, combined with spacing arrangements in the cultivation of scallion in peatlands.The study used a factorial randomized block design consisting of two factors with four replications.Factor I Application of biological agents consists of: A0 = No biological agents; A1 = Consortium ofTrichoderma sp. + Aspergillus sp; Factor II Plant spacing, consisting of J1 = 20x25 cm; J2 = 25x25cm and J3 = 30x25 cm. The results showed that the interaction treatment of Trichoderma sp. +Aspergillus sp. and spacing of 25x25 cm effectively suppresses the incidence of white rot disease(Sclerotium cepivorum Berk) up to 34.02%, while at a spacing of 20x25 cm with the application ofTrichoderma sp. + Aspergillus sp. produced the highest fresh plant weight of 8.80 kg plot-1 or 24.44tons hectares-1. Increasing the number of leaves is only influenced by a single factor of biologicalagents (23.29%) and spacing of 25x25 cm (19.7%). Application of Trichoderma sp. + Aspergillus sp.can increase the nutrient content of N, P (total and available), K and peat soil organic matter.Consortium of biological agents Trichoderma sp. and Aspergillus sp. indigenous have the potential tobe developed as biological agents and biofertilizers, with optimum spacing can be applied to themanagement of scallion cultivation in peatlands.Key words: Sclerotium cepivorum Berk, scallion, Trichoderma sp. and Aspergillus sp., spacing
