The article сarries out an analysis of the practices of using electronic social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Vkontakte, etc.) in the study of migration processes. The paper shows how alternative to traditional sources (administrative, surveys) data allow us to form an up-to-date idea of the spatial-temporal and socio-demographic characteristics of migration. The authors study the integration of migrants in destination countries, including difficulties of assimilation and identity preservation, geography of migration flows, migration due to natural disasters and political reasons, intellectual and labour migration. The specificity of the data generated by social networks is that they cover the entire population and are produced in real time. The paper highlights the search for the necessary information using the means of platforms – advertising plugins, geolocation in posts and information directly collected from users, the functioning of certain communities, published comments. The study also gives important methodological features, the success of the results of any research conducted through the analysis of electronic social networks depends on the consideration of which. The problem of the information obtained with their help lies in such limitations as accessibility (technical features of specific platforms), representativeness (insufficient development of statistical techniques for evaluation) and variability of user preferences. In conclusion, the authors conclude about the prospects of using digital mass communication media in the study of migration processes. The scientific and practical significance of the research paper lies in the fact that it complements the literature on the topic under consideration, being the first systematic review of it in the Russian language, and also provides recommendations on the use of the information obtained.

This paper focuses on a special form of English borrowing: the use of acronyms with phraseological meaning. The Russian computer language, more precisely the Russian computer slang, is unthinkable without the influence of English. This influence is manifested at various language levels and in a variety of forms (borrowings, calques and half-calques, univerbats, reverse derivatives, alphabetic and alphanumeric abbreviations, “distorted forms” of both full names and acronyms). Based on the English abbreviations, first the meaning of the respective full form is explained in English and then its fate is illustrated in the Russian host language. Comparison with German, which also borrowed a large number of such abbreviations, shows similarities and differences in the processing of these phraseological units. The term “digital communication” here refers not only to communication on the Internet in a narrower sense (chats, forums, e-mail, etc.), but also to such channels as SMS, Twitter, WhatsApp, and others. The Internet plays a double role in the development of the modern Russian language: firstly, as a means of mass communication that provides an opportunity to popularize new linguistic phenomena in the shortest possible time and with maximum range, and secondly, as a generator of new linguistic forms that would be impossible without the Internet itself. One part of these neologisms refers to the technical features of digital communication and the tools necessary for it, while the other part refers to the implementation of a new communicative style that is clearly different from analogue communication in its oral and written forms.

The article examines the problem of the functioning of the Russian language in the texts of the online social networks as means of realization of the social needs and the organization of the communication between people. The author supposes that such texts are a mirror of the state of the Russian society and the Russian language. The dominance of the factual tone of Internet discourse, orientation on the dialogue, emotion and aggression of the communication leads to the changes in the representation of the verbalized and non-verbalized knowledge, to the increase of the ways of language compression, to the use of the constructions of expressive syntax, to the fall of the culture of written speech. Slang and colloquial vocabulary with terminology at the same time, segmented structures, emoticons, the reduplication of the punctuation marks, the abbreviation, the allocation of front are used in the texts of social networks.

The topic matter of the research is the system of methods, forms and means of organizing the project-research activities among middle school students in the Russian language classes. This fact determines the work as practice-oriented: the authors of the article make an attempt to formulate and propose their own topics of projects and researches in Russian lessons within project-research activity in accordance with the feasibility and expected substantive studying outcomes. In the course of the work, with the aim of a comprehensive analysis of the indicated issue at different stages, general scientific methods were used: the method of continuous sampling; systematization and generalization; observation, analysis, classification, descriptive-analytical method; modeling method, which altogether have provided a full picture. Among the most significant results of the study, the author’s development of themes and a construct (algorithm with development and description) of the project-research activity of 5-7 grades schoolchildren within the modern directions of linguistics with possible subsequent implementation in Russian lessons and/or in extracurricular activities as a way to achieve a fairly wide range of substantive studying outcomes is showed up. The work’s resulting outcomes determine the practical significance of the research: the research materials can be used in the Russian language classes, in the organization of research activities for middle and high school students, in the development of special courses and special seminars, in the compilation of textbooks on relevant subject. The work concludes the next: the topic matter of project-research activity should be reasonable, appropriate for children’s age in order to increase students’ interest in learning and participation in project-research activity. It is especially important to ensure that they can understand its structure: their own goals in this activity, possible methods of solutions, etc. It is also important that students can search for information on their own, present their project or its fragment, etc.

Teaching Russian at the universities in Slovakia has its own history. For decades, the Russian language has occupied a worthy place in the country’s universities, including Ruzomberok. A new educational reform (since September, 2019) implies freedom of choice when learning foreign languages. Consequently, interest in studying the Russian language in Slovakia is forecasted, which indicates the relevance of our chosen topic. The purpose of the article is to analyze the system of teaching the Russian language at Catholic University in Slovakia from the perspective of a young teacher with little pedagogical experience. The theoretical significance of the article lies in the pointing out the problem of forming and developing interest to the Russian language in Ruzomberok through the culturological approach outlined by the famous Slovak specialist in Russian philology Eva Kollarova. The practical significance of the work consists in using educational disciplines being worked out, their analysis and further adjustment aimed at developing the students’ personality, their individuality through the Russian language. As a result of the study, it was proved that the curriculum based on the culturological approach to teaching a foreign language helps to build trust between the teacher and students. Also, university students are motivated, and in the university environment, they do not only receive facts through language, but are also brought up. We see the prospects of the study in a more detailed study of the impact of teaching the Russian language according to the principle of “language through culture, culture through language.” Due to the growing interest to the Russian language in Slovakia and a free choice in learning a foreign language, the willingness of teachers and students for the dialogue of cultures is becoming very important.

The article discusses the concept of abbreviated decryption of stimulus, which refers to a method of rolling out a contracted construct abbreviation in an equivalent phrase. The study is relevant because it implements and describes a new approach to abbreviation interpretation, stating that a complex word in a synchronous section of the language usually corresponds not to not, but to several equivalent phrases that appear as a result of actualizing alternative decryption stimuli of a contracted abbreviation construct in the text, while existing dictionaries of complex words give only one phrase as an equivalent, usually with a relative adjective. The purpose of the article is to define and describe the system of decoding stimuli of abbreviations in the Russian language. The novelty of this study lies in the fact that it states the existence of a branched system of equivalent phrases in the language, where parallel multiple decryption of a contracted construct of the abbreviation is carried out. The practical significance of the results is the possibility to use them in compiling dictionaries of abbreviations, as well as in translating and editing. The article describes two principles of interpreting decryption stimuli - cognitive and formal. It is concluded that cognitive bases of allocating decryption stimulus are associated with such parameters as stereotypy, uniqueness, regularity. Under the decryption stimulus in this case we understand background knowledge, provoking a particular variant of rolling out a contracted construct of the abbreviation, the stereotype of its explication. As a result of the study, we found that a presentative decryption stimulus is the most stereotyped one. The formal approach defines the decryption stimulus as specific, i.e. empirically observed equivalent phrase in the form of a contracted construct abbreviation in the texts. The perspectives of further research in this area is clarification of the classification of decryption stimuli and on its basis methods of their forecasting.

One of the most important tasks of the contemporary society includes fighting the spreading false information. The unprecedented transition from the traditional media to the modern methods of receiving news has created many problems with verifying its authenticity. Contemporary journalists have to compete with a huge data stream of ordinary users, which is why the main quality factor is the time to publish a news article. As a result, an increasing number of traditional news sources report unclarified information due to the rush to be first. This paper considers a method for determining the presence of hearing in the mass media for the Russian language. This method aims to study the possibility of searching for rumors among users’ messages in social networks. Achieving this goal requires various methods of text analysis, including semantic and linguistic analysis, as well as the analysis of the distribution of records relative to time segments. During the research, the authors have analyzed different popular tools for obtaining data from social networks. In addition, they have manually compiled and marked a sample for training the neural network. As a tool for solving the problem, we used a neural network based on a multi-layer perceptron. The inputs receive a set of 15 metrics that evaluate all aspects of hearing, and as an output, the probability of hearing. The test was performed using various metrics that showed high results for the constructed neural network model. Cross-validation has shown that the model is able to withstand various checks at a high level.
