In the article, the authors consider the natural-artificial process of knowledge development as one of the promising ways to create a new type of community. The article considers the current context of the development of the information society in terms of its system characteristics that affect science as a whole. The thesis about the natural transition of scientific activity to the sphere of mass production is put forward. The authors formulate a hypothesis about a combined (individual and collective) approach to scientific discovery.

The article makes a comprehensive attempt to classify the cultural war as a semantic manipulative phenomenon in a new type of information society. The features and causes of development of identity crisis in the context of semantic manipulations of media reality are outlined. The urgency of the research is that a new information age is filled with insidious meanings that offers a system of the same insidious information procedural “performances”. In its turn they are embodied in long held images, forming an entirely new semantic system, and creating a space of permanent action, in which the choice remains for a person of a new information age, who reveals a considerable level of intellectual skill through dialogue or protest, or, on the contrary, acts according to normalized, “dictated”, imposed cult, from which the principles of whole culture are emerging. The result of individual outbreaks of resistance to “information performances” through the collective will of the nation, which seems to be a muscle, which is intensively practiced in the light of the Rusian-Ukrainian war, is justified by the need to preserve the skills of the society to create the nation, or the nation’s identity. One can concede that at the level of nation there is emergence of greatest amount of conflicts associated with the attempt to destroy the cultural core (the nucleus of the nation), which is formed from the norms, standards, values of a certain ethnic group. The main function of such a nucleus is providing for a system of formed cultural codes in order to preserve the nation’s identity. Summing up the results of the research, the author comes to the conclusion that the typology of the cultural war proposed is conditional, but it gives grounds to talk about the symptomatic appearance of semantic disorientation and the identity crisis. In this situation, understanding and differentiation on the basis of own “mental identifier” will become extremely important in order to consolidate the individuals in terms of new conditions.

It is indicated in the lecture that higher education (universities) is one of the fundamentalentities that change the image of cultural and civilizational life. Nowadays, its existence in Poland is based on the European Union projects, including rules of so called the Bologna process. Changes in theimage and development of the Polish academicism that have been taking place, became subject of deep criticism made by scientific communities, as well as broad publicopinion. In the process of these changes a clash between traditional values and information society creation was revealed. A particularly critical attitude towards the present development of academicism at the University is presented by representatives of humanities and social sciences.

The problem of the new ontology of the communication in the information society is actualized. Communicational discourse of the modern reality got the semantic network character that penetrates all human life spheres and gives some program to the human activity. The formation of the phenomenon of realities’ communication (virtual and objective) is educed. The new type reality forms some new type of thinking namely network thinking. Network culture by no means replace culture of objective reality but only doubles it, completes, gives the person new liberty. Dual character of communication enlarges peculiarity that appears together with the legitimization of the interest to the individual. This circumstance points out that dialectical idea of the synergies between opposites doesn’t disappear from the today generalizing thought but it has been reconstructing according to new conditions. The main modern trend is striving for individual prominence, to be spotted, to confirm one’s identity. The conclusion is made about the necessity to develop modern methodology of communication reality’s research, because it is impossible to comprehend new reality using traditional methods.

Philosophers of science have long postulated how collective scientific knowledge grows. Empirical validation has been challenging due to limitations in collecting and systematizing large historical records. Here, we capitalize on the largest online encyclopedia to formulate knowledge as growing networks of articles and their hyperlinked inter-relations. We demonstrate that concept networks grow not by expanding from their core but rather by creating and filling knowledge gaps, a process which produces discoveries that are more frequently awarded Nobel prizes than others. Moreover, we operationalize paradigms as network modules to reveal a temporal signature in structural stability across scientific subjects. In a network formulation of scientific discovery, data-driven conditions underlying breakthroughs depend just as much on identifying uncharted gaps as on advancing solutions within scientific communities.

In South Africa we have a great legacy of prophetic preaching with preachers such as Desmond Tutu. Since the new dispensation, however, we are confronted today with a new situation of injustice and exclusion: the massive poverty amongst about 50% of the population. This article discusses the conditions for prophetic preaching in the current context of South Africa, which are a clear understanding of the poverty situation and solidarity of the church with the poor, a good understanding of prophetic preaching as a specific type of preaching, as well as the support of the congregation, the churches and the ecumenical church for prophetic preaching.

This chapter examines how modern science provided the imaginative resources used by some moral reformers to define their own qualifications in terms of the virtues proper to scientific practice. Historians of science have long recognized the centrality of certain virtues and their atendant sensibilities and modes of comportment for disciplined scientific activity. The chapter first considers Mirza Khalil Khan Saqafi's contention that Spiritism taught forgiveness, sacrifice, charity, patience, duty, and respect for the Golden Rule, among other virtues, before discussing his moral ideas and his scientific interest in spirit communication as well as Naser Makarem Shirazi's views on the scientific virtues. It also describes Makarem's emphasis on the virtue of skepticism as proper to scientific discovery. Whereas Khalil Khan had discovered positive moral facts through his séances with the spirits of the dead, Makarem undercut such claims to moral truth—which he saw as anarchic—by discrediting the séance.
