The equipment for the production of wide range of metal powders purposed for powder metallurgy is described. The possibility for producing of powders by the plasma centrifugal spraying is considered taking into account the gas dynamic pressure. The calculated data on the powder size for different materials are given.

Reducing risk from pesticide applications has been gaining serious attention in the last few decades due to the significant damage to human health, environment, and ecosystems. Pesticide applications are an essential part of current agriculture, enhancing cultivated crop productivity and quality and preventing losses of up to 45% of the world food supply. However, inappropriate and excessive use of pesticides is a major rising concern. Precision spraying addresses these concerns by precisely and efficiently applying pesticides to the target area and substantially reducing pesticide usage while maintaining efficacy at preventing crop losses. This review provides a systematic summary of current technologies used for precision spraying in tree fruits and highlights their potential, briefly discusses factors affecting spraying parameters, and concludes with possible solutions to reduce excessive agrochemical uses. We conclude there is a critical need for appropriate sensing techniques that can accurately detect the target. In addition, air jet velocity, travel speed, wind speed and direction, droplet size, and canopy characteristics need to be considered for successful droplet deposition by the spraying system. Assessment of terrain is important when field elevation has significant variability. Control of airflow during spraying is another important parameter that needs to be considered. Incorporation of these variables in precision spraying systems will optimize spray decisions and help reduce excessive agrochemical applications.

Partially amorphous iron-based coatings were produced onto aluminium using a powder flame-spraying process with a commercially available feedstock powder (Nanosteel SHS-7170) obtained from the Nanosteel Company Inc.. Several coating properties such as the microstructure, porosity, phase content, micro-hardness, and wear resistance were evaluated in the as-sprayed condition. As shown by the results obtained, the powder flame iron-based coatings perform relatively well in term of wear resistance in comparison with similar coatings produced using other expensive thermal spray techniques. Furthermore, this study shows that all the coating properties (microstructure, porosity, phase content, hardness and wear performance) depend strongly on the flame spraying parameters used. Finally, this paper demonstrates clearly that the flame-spray process may be used to produce amorphous iron-based coatings having a good wear resistance, and that this process appears to be a suitable inexpensive alternative to plasma or HVOF processes based on the present results.

Comparative tests of gas detonation (GDS) coatings were carried out in order to investigate the influence of spraying parameters on abrasive wear under dry friction conditions. The tests were carried out using the pin-on-disc (PoD) method at room temperature. The microstructure of the coatings was analysed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM / EDS) methods. The results showed that with specific GDS process parameters, the main phases in both coatings were FeAl and Fe3Al involving thin oxide films Al2O3. The tribological tests proved that the coatings sprayed with the shorter barrel of the GDS gun showed higher wear resistance. The coefficient of friction was slightly lower in the case of coatings sprayed with the longer barrel of the GDS gun. During dry friction, oxide layers form on the surface, which act as a solid lubricant. The load applied to the samples during the tests causes shear stresses, thus increasing the wear of the coatings. During friction, the surface of the coatings is subjected to alternating tensile and compressive stresses, which lead to delamination and is the main wear mechanism of the coatings.

Experiments were conducted in a closed loop spray cooling system working with deionized water as a working fluid. This study was performed to investigate the effect of the spraying parameters, such as Sauter mean diameter (SMD), the droplet velocity, and the residual velocity on the spray cooling heat transfer in the non-boiling region. Thermal effects on plain and modified surfaces with circular grooves were examined under different operating conditions. The inlet pressure of the working fluid was varied from 78.6 kPa to 183.515kPa, and the inlet temperature was kept between 21–22 °C. The distance between the nozzle and the target surface 10 mm. The results showed that increasing the coolant inlet pressure increases the droplet velocity and the number of droplets produced while decreasing the droplet size. As a consequence of these changes, increasing inlet pressure improved the heat transfer characteristics of both surfaces.
