The effect of motivation on employee productivity (A case study private bank in Kurdistan regional government)

This study was purposely conducted to analyze the outcome that motivation has on the performance of workers where private banks in Kurdistan regional government were used. Motivation comes in handy for a firm that wishes to attain its goals and prospects. When the workers are motivated, they improve their commitment to the firm’s objectives and so it is the duty of every firm to incorporate the various motivating factors in their system. This study was based on the analysis of the impact of goals, monetary incentives and recognition and rewards on the worker’s performance. A descriptive research style was used where a sample of 130 employees from the various private banks made up the sample. Questionnaires were used to collect data which was then analyzed and presented on graphs, tables and charts. The study found out that goals were widely used as motivators in the banks. It also found out that the employees were dissatisfied with the salaries they were getting. The recognition and reward systems were also unequitable. The study concluded that the employees in the private banks were not well motivated and recommendations to increase the motivation were given.

<p class="Abstrak">Sistem Informasi Geografi (SIG) dengan layanan informasi pengelolaan lahan yang cocok sehingga lahan akan bernilai ekonomi, oleh karenanya penelitian ini membahas pemetaan dan pengkajian potensi sumber daya lahan pesisir dalam mendukung usaha budidaya, pariwisata, konservasi, dan daerah tangkapan ikan yang berkelanjutan. Metode penelitian secara deskriptif memakai pendekatan survei untuk pengamatan wilayah penelitian dan pengumpulan data sekunder serta pendekatan analisis spasial untuk parameter dan kriteria kesesuaian lahan. Teknik pengolahan dan analisis data ini menggunakan <em>software</em> SIG yakni <em>ArcGIS</em> 10.1 dengan model <em>skorin</em>g dan <em>overlay</em>. Hasil penelitian dengan studi kasus Kepulauan Padaido ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa saat ini dengan adanya SIG yang dibangun, Pemerintah Daerah Biak Numfor sudah dapat mengolah lahan pesisir untuk dimanfaatkan sesuai dengan potensi lahan yang seharusnya, seperti potensi lahan untuk usaha budidaya rumput laut seluas 13.269,41 ha atau 94%, untuk budidaya teripang seluas 7.069,91 ha atau 83%, sebagai aktifitas pariwisata pesisir seluas 7.778,45 ha atau 86%, sebagai kegiatan konservasi seluas 2.957,54 ha atau 163%, untuk daerah tangkapan ikan karang seluas 2.078,92 ha atau 80%, dan sebagai daerah tangkapan ikan pelagis 1.585,61 ha atau 87%.</p><p class="Abstrak"> </p><p class="Abstrak"><em><strong>Abstract</strong></em></p><p><em>Geographic Information System (GIS) with suitable land management information services so that the land will be of economic value, therefore this study discusses the mapping and assessment of the potential of coastal land resources in supporting sustainable aquaculture, tourism, conservation, and fishing grounds. The descriptive research method uses a survey approach for observation of research areas and secondary data collection as well as a spatial analysis approach for land suitability parameters and criteria. This data processing and analysis technique uses GIS software namely ArcGIS 10.1 with a scoring and overlay model. The results of the study with the Padaido Islands case study can be concluded that currently with the GIS being built, the Regional Government of Biak Numfor has been able to cultivate coastal land to be used according to the potential of the land that should be, such as the potential land for seaweed cultivation business area of 13,269.41 ha or 94%, for sea cucumber cultivation covering 7,069.91 ha or 83%, as coastal tourism activities covering 7,778.45 ha or 86%, as conservation activities covering 2,957.54 ha or 163%, for reef catchments covering 2,078.92 ha or 80%, and as a pelagic catchment area 1,585.61 ha or 87%.</em><em></em></p><p> </p>

The increasing number of regions proposing themselves to form new autonomous regions since the enactment of Law Number 32 of 2004 concerning "Regional Government", aims to improve economic development and the welfare of the people in each region. The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of regional expansion on the economic growth of North Toraja Regency. The Technik of data collection in this study uses the documentary Technik, which is in the form of reports from relevant agencies. The analysis technique used is by using the independent sample T-test. The results of the study show that regional expansion has an impact on the economic growth of North Toraja Regency.

Engineering infrastructures require regular maintenance and/or repair activities that have important social, environmental, and economic impacts. Despite their growing importance, few studies have focused on fully integrated analyses. This work presents a general methodological approach to design databases of engineering maintenance activities for their assessment. This methodology was applied to the case of dredging projects in the ports managed by the Andalusian Regional Government (Spain). The resulting database contains 87 fields of information obtained from the analysis of 70 activities performed between 1993 and 2015. This database is free, public, and available to the scientific community, and it was implemented in PostgreSQL using the PostGIS extension for spatial data; therefore, it can be integrated in a GIS. The assessment of deviations from the initial projects and the comparison between locations enhanced our methodology, which represents a valuable tool not only for scientists and managers to improve the decision-making process when planning future strategies, but also to evaluate the environmental impacts.

The need of education which is properly accommodated in Constitution Number 20 of 2003 about national education System on article 50, verse 3 which mandate that Government and/or Local Government hold at least one educational unit on whole educational level to be developed as school at international level. After 8 year implementation, through Constitution Court session on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, issued a policy about abolition of international based school. Constitution Court has accepted the complaint which is submitted by Coalition against Commercialization of Education. In its consideration, Constitution Court considers that international school in governmental school is on the contrary to UUD 1945. The purpose of this research is to know about the impact of Constitution Court decision (The Abolition of RSBI/SBI Program) in schools and public institutions in this case about student guardian. This research is also expected to be able to give contribution for knowledge and science especially to research policy in education. The method of this research is qualitative research and case study. This research is held in SDN 26 Argamakmur which is one of Pioneering International School (RSBI). This research uses some informants; they are teachers and administration staffs of SDN 26 Argamakmur, student guardians, the officials of education and culture department of North Bengkulu regency and the officials of education and culture department of regional offices and also some policy experts in the field of education. This research finds out some facts that Constitution Court decision about the revocation of RSBI in SD BI 26 Argamakmur causes the result of psychology pressure for teachers as the spearhead of policy implementer. Before this decision published, the teachers who teach in this school have their own pride to teach in this school. Physically, RSBI School in Argamakmur has some facilities such as computer laboratory, Language laboratory, and ICT room. These facilities need high maintenance fund. Therefore, regional government still has responsibilities toward the impact of status alteration of this school. The alteration of status from RSBI school to regular school results on various impact for society especially students guardian. For the parents who have sent their children to RSBI School, there is a pride form the parents toward their children because they have basic skills that aren’t given in other schools. The skills are active English skill and computer skill. Many parents who have their children study in International Standard Primary School (SD BI) feel disappointed since there won’t be written international standard school in their children’s educational certificate. International predicate is considered as a pride for some parents. The steps taken by school have been based on circular letter of education and culture Minister of Indonesia dated January 30, 2013. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to give an analysis of the humanitarian situation and the case of human rights in Syria after the events of the Arab spring. Methodology: This is analytical-descriptive research that has been done through literature review, content analysis, and documentary and case study research. Result: our results suggest that the Syrian government made false concessions designed to end the revolts. The occurrence led to the formation of a rebel group, the Free Syrian Army whose main objective was to oust the authoritarian regime and stop the killing of civilians. This marked the beginning of the blatant violation of human rights as well as the civil war in Syria. The government not only ignited but also took the war to its own people killing, injuring and imprisoning thousands of people. Worse still, thousands of women and young girls still suffer sexual violence during the nightly raids conducted frequently on either opposing camps. Following the massive violations of human rights, almost all economic sectors of Syria have met rock-bottom. Applications: This research can be used for policymakers and the international community to take a further step to aid the Syrian civilians. Novelty/Originality: In our research, we try to target a very much debated topic in the Middle East. Although several articles written about the humanitarian and human rights situation in Syria studies on human rights after the Arab spring is still lacking.

As a public institution that has a mandate to manage the waqf cash fund, the waqf agency is required to be capable of managing the cash waqf fund and implementing the principles of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) as a form of responsibility to public The impact of the implementation of GCG itself, in addition to improve the level of public trust, will increase the amount of fund accepted by the waqf agency. This research aims to describe the management of cash waqf and to analyze the implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) principles respectively done and in BWU/T MUI DIY in the management of cash waqf. This is a qualitative-descriptive research using a case study approach aimed to describe the reality of the cash waqf management and the implementation of GCG principles in BWU/T MUI DIY. The results were then analyzed or measured using the theories relevant with the issues concerned. In addition, this research used SWOT analysis to observe the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges in managing the cash waqf faced by the BWU/T MUI DIY. Based on the results of the research, it can be found that in the management of the cash waqf done by BWUT MUI DIY overall has been implemented in accordance with the existing laws, either from legislation, regulation of religion minister, and regulation issued by BWI. Meanwhile for the implementation of GCG principles in the management of cash waqf done by BWUT MUI DIY recently has not been done maximally. Of five basic principles of GCG including transparency, accountability, responsibility, independence and fairness, in fact there are only two principles conducted entirely that is the principle of independence and fairness. On the other hand, the principles of transparency, accountability, and responsibility have not been applied entirely.

This paper presents a case study about issues that can arise in research with marginalized populations. We use our experiences during a focus group conducted with low-income men to discuss how using monetary incentives can lead to ethical and methodological dilemmas, including participants’ misrepresentation of their demographic backgrounds to match study criteria. We address difficulties caused by the Institutional Review Board process’ inability to account for unanticipated circumstances during fieldwork. We note that any resolution of such dilemmas must prioritize responsible research practice and protecting participants. We also note the need for more research on the impact and ethics of monetary and other incentives in recruiting participants for studies such as ours that include populations from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. The issues raised in this paper have implications for those considering research design, especially concerning incentives and screening questions.

The objective of this research was to diagnose bullying based on the perception of the occurrence of the phenomenon by employees of public and private banking institutions in the city of João Pessoa, state of Paraíba, Brazil. It is a descriptive research and a case study with a quantitative approach applied to a simple random sample of 156 bank clerks, through a sociodemographic questionnaire and a perception scale of mobbing at work, validated by Martins and Ferraz (2014). Data were analyzed by using the SPSS software and compared by Chi-square tests and variance analysis. There was an equal participation concerning gender, most of them from white ethnicity, married, graduates, and mean age of 39 years. It was found that the phenomenon was perceived infrequently, at least once a month. 34% of bank clerks reported professional harassment and 19.9% reported personal harassment. Such results prompted reflection on whether the phenomenon was overcome, reduced or trivialized among the professional category studied. The results also showed that, although perceived infrequently, harassment behavior is more observed with employees in private banks than in public ones.


Employees are not present in work and so the work suffers. The researcher focuses to sort the motives for employee’s absenteeism in an organization. It is the key problem faced by more or less all the employers nowadays. Absenteeism of employees from job results in backlogs, pile of labour and therefore work delays. The objective of the paper is to identify the predominant factor influencing employee absenteeism and to measure the impact of factors influencing employee absenteeism on employee productivity. Descriptive research design is used for this reseacrh. Data was collected from 150 employees using Convenience sampling technique from the employees of IT companies at Trichy. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to identify the predominant factor influencing employee absenteeism and multiple regression to measure the impact of factors influencing employee absenteeism on employee productivity. From the analysis, it was found that stress at the workplace is the predominant factor highly influencing employee absenteeism. It was also found that improper time management is highly influencing employee absenteeism factor on employee productivity
