University libraries have a great role in promoting the inheritance and innovation of excellent traditional culture, so it is necessary to integrate traditional culture into the process of university library development, so as to strengthen the efficiency of traditional culture in the process of inheritance, so that more university students will know and understand traditional culture, so as to clarify the excellence of traditional culture, and actively learn and inherit traditional culture, so as to contribute to the development of traditional culture. The article will propose effective strategies to address the dilemmas faced in the process of traditional cultural heritage in order to contribute to the innovative development of traditional culture. In the field of cultural heritage, three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of monuments is a usual activity for many professionals. The aim in this paper focuses on the new technology educational application combining science, history, and archaeology. Being involved in almost all stages of implementation steps and assessing the level of participation, university students use tools of computer gaming platform and participate in ways of planning the virtual environment which improves their education through e-Learning. The virtual 3D environment is made with different imaging methods (helium-filled balloon, Structure for motion, 3D repository models) and a developmental plan has been designed for use in many future applications. Digital tools were used with 3D reconstructed buildings from the museum archive to Unity 3D for the design. The pilot study of Information Technology work has been employed to introduce cultural heritage and archaeology to university syllabuses. It included students with a questionnaire which has been evaluated accordingly. As a result, the university students were inspired to immerse themselves into the virtual lab, aiming to increasing the level of interaction. The results show a satisfactory learning outcome by an easy to use and real 3D environment, a step forward to fill in needs of contemporary online sustainable learning demands.

This article explores the hypothesis that the concept of heritage is relevant for a university-based degree course in legal translators and interpreters’ training. The research rests on the legal and academic understanding of cultural heritage. The study explores its specifics regarding the English-taught discipline on Legal Translation and Interpreting Studies within the above-mentioned graduate program. The research integrates qualitative tools and statistical instruments, starts with the theoretical consideration of legislative and academic sources, proceeds to the empirical studies of heritage samples, and considers their relevance for the heritage module design within the specified discipline. The experimental design of such a module and its use for the training of students are also part of the present investigation that further explores students’ perceptions of the heritage module under study, with reference to their future career tracks. The study reveals the specifics and components of the heritage framework for the discipline under study and identifies those areas of professional activities for which students consider the heritage module as most useful and relevant. These issues have not been a subject for academic research so far, which contributes to the research relevance and novelty.

The aim of this short conference presentation was to highlight the importance of seeking alternative technological approaches to the optimization of university libraries’ resources and services. It discusses briefly the changes that are taking place in universities, and the importance for libraries of being seen to contribute to facilitating those changes. It explains the growing importance of research activity, and the expectations of researchers, an increasingly influential group in universities. It then goes on to outline the potential for increasing collections of electronic information by redirecting some of the effort of the libraries’ staff towards discovering and securing resources that are already available and offer data and information that may be valued by researchers. Finally, it provides a reminder that it is not enough to be good at what you do unless this is recognised, and stresses the importance of networking and advocacy as a means of providing a constant reminder to the influential and decision makers. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the websites of university libraries to ascertain that libraries are effectively utilizing their respective websites to provide easy access to all electronic resources available in the library. The objective was also to a represent a comparative analysis between public and private university library websites regarding the presence of electronic resources with their easy access via the internet. For the purpose of this study, a research instrument in the form of comprehensive checklist of eighteen e-resources was developed to evaluate their accessibility in the websites of public and private university libraries. Twenty university library websites, comprised of ten top-ranked public and ten top-ranked private universities in Bangladesh, were studied for data collection using content analysis method. The findings demonstrate that the presence of e-resources on selected university library websites is still in its early stage, but it has been growing rapidly. The private university library websites are ahead of public university libraries in terms of the integration of web-resources. It is hoped that the findings of this paper will serve to assist the University librarians and other similar institutions in choosing, selecting and acquiring the most appropriate format of information resources, and making these available to their websites, which will both satisfy the needs of their library users and fit within their library budget.

Library collection development is mostly studied as professionalism based on a positivistic paradigm neglecting constructivist based paradigm. This constructivist base is reflected in various factors, such as ideology and commodification, which influence collection development. This research aims to investigate ideological contestation and commodification of institutions and audiences related to the collection development of Muhammadiyah University library. The ideological contestation was examined using Giddens’ structuration and Bourdieu’s habitus. The research data was collected from interviews with five informants from librarians and library directors. The data were supported by observation and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman technique based on three stages: reduction, display, and conclusion/verification. The results of the research found three formations in contestation, i.e. internal institutions, external institutions, and professionalism of librarians. The internal institution represented by the UMY Library encountered with outside institutions, such as American Corner, Iranian Corner, and publishers. Meanwhile, librarians show their professionalism in facing the ideological domination of those institutions through various strategies regarding the development of library collection.

Utilizing Herbert Marcuse’s One-Dimensional Man (1962) and Counterrevolution and Revolt (1972) as a theoretical backdrop, this article seeks to gauge the extent to which the teachings of the German philosopher and political theorist lay the groundwork for the protests mounted by the university students in David Lodge’s campus novel Changing Places (1975). Admittedly, the Student Revolution spilled over into numerous fields. However, given space restrictions, only its cultural manifestations will be examined. It will be clear that at the root of Lodge’s students’ uprising lies an overpowering urge to break with the cultural heritage and with the academics upholding it. It will be equally clear, nonetheless, that these young activists’ faith in Marcuse’s political doctrine is unwelcome to conservative academics on the ground that it has diverse adverse effects on universities. Not only are politically oriented texts and discourses given precedence over traditional ones but also teachers and administrators are, at times, hindered from doing their duties. The plausible conclusion to draw, in the light of the research’s findings, is that although cultural revolutions undeniably pave the way for a number of personal and collective achievements and help us modernize many aspects of life, they should not blind us to the enduring significance of previous cultural traditions and of the aesthetic value of literary works.

Language learning strategies (LLSs) are made up of the conscious and deliberate actions that language learners take in order to help them learn a language. It would be useful, however, to know which particular LLSs are the most effective so we can in turn focus on them in class and encourage our students to begin using them. To do this, we should ask ourselves, what kinds of LLSs do advanced-level students use in their own language learning? This study examined that question in hopes of learning the most effective strategies to teach our lower-level students to use. An advanced-level class of 18 second-year university students in Japan was surveyed on the effectiveness of LLSs based on a class-generated list. Following this, six students were selected for in-depth interviews. The survey and interview data found that students believed that speaking strategies are the most effective for learning English. 言語学習におけるストラテジー(LLSs)とは、学習者が言語を学びやすくするために起こす意識的かつ計画的な行動により構成されるものである。しかしながら、最も効果的なLLSsは何なのかを知ることは有益である。さらに授業の中でそれらのLLSsに注目し、学生たちがそれらを使い始めるように促すことを可能にするためである。それを知るために、私達は自分自身に次のように問うべきである―上級レベルの学生たちが英語学習の際に使っているのはどんなLLSsだろうか?本研究では、その答えを出し、初級レベルの学生たちにも最も効果的なLLSsを使って学習させるべく調査を展開している。日本のある大学の2年生18人の英語上級者クラスでは、学生たちが自ら作ったリストをもとに、それぞれのLLSsの効果を調査した。また、6人の学生に詳細なインタビューを受けてもらった。これらの調査により、英語上級者の学生たちが考える最も効果的なLLSsはスピーキングであるということがわかった。

The paper examined the roles of university libraries for students of low socio-economic status in Nigeria.The authors are extremely concerned about the plight of this cluster of university students because we have travelled this road before.Concepts were identified and discusssed. University libraries from the discussion were seen as hub of academic activities of universities with a number of functions. The paper however believesthe plight of students from low socio-economic background was not properly covered by the operations of university libraries in Nigeria and as such they are disadvantaged. The authors feel this segment of students are important to be cared for because of their future survival, academic performance and achievement, they constitute the population of Nigeria and they may turnout to be leaders of tomorrow. Inview of this, the article suggested support from university libraries for the students, university libraries should engagestudents from low socio-economic statusin extra academic activities such as ICTdrill, writing competition organize seminarsessions etc.

Traditional Musical Instruments are a part of Chinese traditional culture, forming a series of intangible cultural heritage of related music. This project focuses on various traditional Musical Instruments in the traditional Chinese concert scene, providing background knowledge and audio files of relevant Musical Instruments. The project will involve digital formats such as audio, video, 3D, other images and virtual reality. The project integrates the information of intangible cultural heritage in various forms of media, and with the help of communication and social platforms, breaks the limitation of specific time and place, and makes it the technical condition of modern communication and quality should be in a new platform, which can better protect and develop traditional Musical Instruments.
