This research paper discusses the benefits and implications of bringing authentic assessment into listening comprehension classes. The study was run in 2016 based on a QUAL-Quan model to research and included 38 college students enrolled in a listening comprehension class at an English Teaching Major (ETM) from the University of Costa Rica (UCR). Data collection instruments included plans of improvement, portfolios, self-assessment forms, teacher-student conferences, verbal calls, and impromptu reflections. Data were validated through several procedures and analyzed in the form of emerging themes from the information collected. Findings are that authentic assessment can and should be used more in listening comprehension classes to bring assessment and instruction together, as well as to provide opportunities for skills integration. The study yields implications for theory and practice, and it constitutes a proposal to move from traditional to process evaluation, and from norm-referenced testing towards more criterion-referenced assessment. Nonetheless, the aim should not necessarily be a radical ‘no’ to paper-and-pencil tests, but a more balanced use in combination with other strategies so that assessment becomes more reliable, valid, fair, and authentic for all EFL actors involved. The Red boat spirit is the spirit formed by the Communist Party of China during the revolution, which contains rich ideals and beliefs and educational resources. It is a spiritual pillar for the construction and development of the CPC itself, so it has a unique value for guiding the ideal and belief education of college students. Identity theory provides a new perspective for exploring the era value of the Red Boat spirit leading the ideal and belief education in colleges and universities. At present, the public, especially college students’ awareness and recognition of the Red Boat spirit deserve more in-depth study. Through the exploration and integration of theory and practice, this paper plans from the following aspects: the guidance of Red Boat spirit to college students’ ideal and belief education, the improvement of the effectiveness of college students’ ideal and belief education, the core of which is to grasp the essential point of agreement between the Red Boat spirit and college students’ ideals and beliefs, find the agreement between the two from the perspective of homology and identity, explore the role of improving the Red Boat spirit culture in leading college students’ ideals and beliefs, and enhance the university students’ awareness and identity of the Red Boat spirit.

This study aimed at investigating and describing the discrepancy of authentic assessment implementation in EFL classroom of SMAN 1 Abiansemal based on the 2013 Curriculum and the teacher’s belief on the authentic assessment implementation. This is an evaluative study, especially educational evaluation. The subjects of this research are three EFL teachers in SMAN 1 Abiansemal. The data were collected by using four methods of data collection, namely documenting, observation, in depth interview and questionnaire. Based on the methods of data collection, there were instruments utilized such as observation sheet, teacher’s belief questionnaires, and interview guide. The data obtained from the observation sheet and questionnaire of teacher belief were analyzed and calculated by using Ideal Theoretical Reference Criteria. From the data analysis it was found that (i) the discrepancy of authentic assessment implementation in EFL classroom of SMA Negeri 1 Abiansemal based on the curriculum 2013 is categorized into narrow, specifically, self assessment is categorized into narrow, portfolio assessment is categorized into moderate, performance assessment is categorized into very narrow. and project assessment is categorized into narrow and (ii) The teachers’ beliefs about authentic assessment implementation is categorized into very positive. This results means that the implementaion of authentic assessment in Curriculum 2013 can not be achieved ideally.

There are numerous studies of linguistics landscape or study of texts in public spaces. However, study on the culinary sign is still rare in Indonesia. Thus, this paper explores the linguistics landscape of culinary signs around campus in Malang, East Java, Indonesia, the melting pot of cultures and languages. The research aims to analyze the form of language use and its function. The data collection is photographing culinary signs around three advanced campuses in Malang, namely the University of Brawijaya, State University of Malang, and the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Qualitative descriptive was used in analyzing the data. The results showed that Indonesian, English, and Javanese are the most frequent languages used in culinary banners or storefronts and other foreign languages (Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Malay) and vernaculars (Sundanese, Banjarese, Minangnese). It was found that the Malang culinary linguistics mirrored the taste and service of the store. Furthermore, foreign languages are becoming a way to go global and known by college students who most like modernization. The use of Javanese also acts as a symbol of maintaining the cultural heritage of Javanese people.

This article details the process of self-reflection applied to the use of traditional performance indicator questionnaires. The study followed eight speech-language pathology graduate students enrolled in clinical practicum in the university, school, and healthcare settings over a period of two semesters. Results indicated when reflection was focused on students' own clinical skills, modifications to practice were implemented. Results further concluded self-assessment using performance indicators paired with written reflections can be a viable form of instruction in clinical education.

The study focused basically on measuring the relationship between the material cost of the students benefits program and the benefits which are earned by it, which was distributed on college students in the initial stages (matinee) and to show the extent of the benefits accruing from the grant program compared to the material burdens which matched and the extent of success or failure of the experience and its effect from o scientific and side on the Iraqi student through these tough economic circumstances experienced by the country in general, and also trying to find ways of proposed increase or expansion of distribution in the future in the event of proven economic feasibility from the program. An data has been taking from the data fro the Department of Financial Affairs and the Department of Studies and Planning at the University of Diyala with taking an data representing an actual and minimized pattern and questionnaires to a sample of students from the Department of Life Sciences in the Faculty of Education of the University of Diyala on the level of success and failure of students in the first year of the grant and the year before for the purpose of distribution comparison. The importance of the study to measure the extent of interest earned in comparision whit the material which is expenseon the program of grant (grant of students) to assist the competent authorities to continue or not in the program of student grants for the coming years.

The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of management of integrative thematic learning based on curriculum 2013 at grade 4 khadijah primary school Surabaya. The focus of this study are 1. The lesson plan for integrative thematic class based on curriculum 2013 at grade 4 khadijah primary school . the research method of this study is descriptive kualitatif, the data collection technique are interview, observation and documentation. The result of this study are 1) the lesson plan of integrative thematic based on curriculum 2013 at grade 4 khadijah primary school Surabaya conducted by several steps are : a) set thema, b) doing analisys SKL, KI, and basic competence, c) arrage syllabus, d) arrage the lesson plan, 2) doing integrative thematic learning based on curriculum 2013 at grade 4 Khadijah primary school used scientific approch by observing, questioning, reasoning, trying, processing, displaying, verivicaying, and communicating, 3) the assessment of integrative thematic learning based on curriculum 2013 at grade 4 khadijah primary school used authentic assessment that include written assessment, project assessment and portfolio assessment.

Abstract The present paper is founded on two pillars. Firstly, it is one of the current trends in education worldwide, i.e. to connect theory and practice. Secondly, it is the need to be interculturally competent speakers of a foreign language in today’s globalized world of massive migration flows and signs of increasing ethnocentrism. Based upon these two requirements, the ability to communicate in a FL effectively and interculturally appropriately in the tourism industry is a must, since being employed in whichever of its sectors means encountering other cultures on a daily basis. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to find out undergraduate tourism students’ opinion on the importance of intercultural communicative competences for their future profession as well as their self-assessment in the given field. The findings of the research, which are to be compared to employers’ needs, revealed that there is considerable difference between the respondents’ views on the significance of the investigated issues and their self-esteem.

Most curriculum components of archival graduate programmes consist of contextual knowledge, archival knowledge, complementary knowledge, practicum, and scholarly research. The practicum, now commonly known as experiential learning in the global hub, is now widely accepted in library and information studies (LIS) education as necessary and important. It is through experiential learning that, over and above the theoretical aspects of a profession, students are provided with the opportunity to learn by doing in a workplace environment. The University of Botswana’s Master’s in Archives and Records Management (MARM) programme has a six weeks experiential learning programme whose purpose is to expose prospective archivists and/or records managers to the real archival world in terms of practice as informed by archival theory. The main objective of the study was to determine the extent to which the University of Botswana’s experiential learning component exposes students to real-life archival work to put into practice theoretical aspects learnt in the classroom as intended by the university guidelines. This study adopted a qualitative research design and collected data through interviews from participants selected through purposive and snowball sampling strategies. Documentary review supplemented the interviews. The data collected were analysed thematically in line with research objectives. The study determined that experiential learning does indeed expose students to the real world of work. It thus helps to bridge the gap between archival theory and practice for students without archives and records management work experience. For those with prior archival experience, experiential learning does not add value. This study recommends that students with prior archives and records management experience should rather, as an alternative to experiential learning, undertake supervised research, and write a research essay in a chosen thematic area in archives and records management.
