It is commonly known that heavy oil is mostly formed through biodegradation process within reservoir or on the surface both by aerobic and/or anaerobic bacteria that can live under specfi c temperature level(s). In order to investigate heavy oil occurences in Central Sumatra Basin, eff orts have been spent to determine the depths that represent the maximum temperature. By integrating the maximum viable temperature of typical bacteria and temperature gradient data, the depth of heavy oil zone is determined. The work is a combination of establishment of geothermal gradient map and laboratory analysis on fi eld sampled oil for determining types and temperature characteristics of microorganism living in the samples. Heavy oil sampling is made on seepages in areas nearby Minas fi eld. Subsequent laboratory analysis reveals Burkholderia multivorans ATCC BAA-247 as the predominant bacteria having maximum viabl temperature of 60° C. Based on the established geothermal gradient map, this maximum temperature correspond to average depth of 1818 ft (555.5 m). This average depth is used as the lower depth for the biodegradation zone over which investigation over presence of heavy oil bearing reservoirs/traps is made.

Abstract Seismic and gravity observations were carried out in the active volcanic area of Katmai in the summer of 1965. A determination of hypocenters has been aftempted using S and P arrivals at a station located at Kodiak and two stations located in the Monument. However, in most cases, deviations of travel times from the Jeffreys-Bullen tables were rather large. Therefore hypocenters are not well located. A method based on P- and S-wave arrivals yields a Poisson's ratio of 0.3 for the upper part of the mantle under Katmai. This higher value is probably due to the magma formation. The average depth to the Moho from seismic data in the same area is 38 km and 32 km under Kodiak. Using Woollard's relation between Bouguer anomaly and depth to the Moho, a small mountain root under the volcanoes with a depth of 34 km was found dipping gently up to 31 km on the NW side. The active volcanic cones are located along an uplift block. This block is associated with a 35 mgal Bouguer anomaly. The Bouguer anomaly contour map for the Alaska Peninsula is given and an interpretation attempted.

AbstractPossibilities of a multicell isoperibolic-semiadiabatic calorimeter application for the measurement of hydration heat and maximum temperature reached in mixtures of various compositions during their setting and early stages of hardening are presented. Measurements were aimed to determine the impact of selected components’ content on the course of ordinary Portland cement (OPC) hydration. The following components were selected for the determination of the hydration behaviour in mixtures: very finely ground granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS), silica fume (microsilica, SF), finely ground quartz sand (FGQ), and calcined bauxite (CB). A commercial polycarboxylate type superplasticizer was also added to the selected mixtures. All maximum temperatures measured for selected mineral components were lower than that reached for cement. The maximum temperature increased with the decreasing amount of components in the mixture for all components except for silica fume. For all components, except for CB, the values of total released heat were higher than those for pure Portland cement samples.

The present study aim to estimate the ratio of aquaculture in the phosphorus and nitrogen concentrations determined in the Toho - Todougba lagoons. For this purpose, the two lagoons were subdivided into 7 stations for the determination of phosphorus and nitrogen concentrations in the water column. Production data from 2017 to 2019 were collected from the Direction of the Ficheries Production and from the literature. Data for 2020 were collected directly from fish farmers. Annual tilapia production was estimated by year and the amounts of phosphorus and nitrogen released from aquaculture are deduced based on the ratio of Montanhini Neto & Ostrensky (2013). The concentration of each of these nutrients was estimated by station and compared to the concentration determined by laboratory analysis of the water. This methodology shows that the amount of phosphorus and nitrogen released to the environment varies from 0.49 mg/L to 0.18 mg/L for phosphorus and from 1.53 mg/L to 0.58 mg/L for nitrogen. The lowest values are obtained in 2020 and differ significantly from the other years (p <0.05). The quantity of phosphorus discharged is higher at the high production stations (Tonon 0.20 mg/L and Lokohoue 0.11 mg/L). Some of this is stored in the sediment. The nitrogen generated by aquaculture is significantly lower than the average determined in water (p <0.05). However, the concentration determined is still related to the amount of organic matter released due to aquaculture. Although aquaculture is not the only source of nutrient release to water, strategies for aquaculture with less nutrient release should be determined.

Aim. Determination of the frequency of stab-cut damages of internal organs and the conditions of their causes. Material and methods. The article presents the results of a retrospective statistical study of the conclusions of the forensic medical examinations of the corpses of the Khabarovsk State Forensic Bureau for the period from 2014-2018. Results. The frequency of injury with sharp objects, the most commonly damaged internal organs during stab-cut wounds and the average depth of the wound channels both in the body as a whole and separately for internal organs were established in the course of the study.

Abstract. The article is dedicated to the determination of the wash depth of mountain rivers in floods and overflows. As well-known, hydrotechnical equipment is exposed to destructive damages of the floods and overflows. The undersurface of bridge basement and coast guards are washed away, the surface of drainage devices in water supply and dams (Düker) at river crossings are opened up. Therefore, the protection of the equipment against the destructive damage of the floods and overflows should be ensured. To this aim, first of all, the depth of the fortification of the equipment basement in riverbeds and the width through which the river can flow should be determined and the works of installing coast guards should be accordingly implemented. Since the flow regime of rivers due to floods in the course of mountain riverbeds dramatically changes, the width, depth, roughness and cross-sectional area of the riverbed also changes. To that reason, in the smallest case, calculation formulas includes the average width and wash depth of the riverbed in the course of the floods and overflows, average diameter of undersurface soils, the slope of the location of hydrotechnical structures, velocity due to the average diameter of the riverbed soils and so on. The article contains the analyses of theoretical and practical materials about the floods and overflows in mountain rivers. For the rivers flowing through the southern hills of Great Caucasus Mountains, the expressions for determining the riverbed parameters and hydrological parameters of rivers are used. According to the expressions, average width due to non-washing of the riverbed in floods in accordance with flood flow and slope of the studied part of the riverbed, the average depth of the riverbed crossing the flood, the average velocity of the flow and the wash depth in accordance with them are determined. basing on all these, the determining method of the wash depth of mountain riverbeds in floods have been worked out and determining the wash depth have been recorded. The studied methodology can be used in determining the riverbed parameters in floods and overflows. Tympanocentesis is a method frequently used to aspirate middle ear fluid from infected ears. There are some medical indications to perform tympanocentesis in certain clinical settings.1 This procedure could be beneficial in some patients in which determination of the etiology of the acute otitis media and relieving the pain and acute symptoms is of importance. The instrument frequently used by otolaryngologists is the Senturia ear specimen collector (Storz Instrument Company, St Louis) which operates by controlled suctioning using an external negative pressure. A simplified method for performing myringotomy and tumpanocentesis2 that avoids the use of complicated equipment and prevents contamination of the specimen is presented here.
