This research presents the grouting method of preventing rib sloughage which severely impacts mine safety and longwall retreat speed in thick coal seam with numerical simulation and laboratory tests. Based on the analysis of the plastic failure mode of five types of coal seam, roof strata ahead of the longwall face, and fractures developed in the coal seam, the following results are drawn, the range and degree of plastic failure generated in the coal seam and roof strata ahead of the longwall face gradually decreased as the coal mass strength increased; the grouting boreholes are essentially laid out within the coal rib instead of the roof. For a particular case of a coal mine in Shanxi province, a novel cement-based material was grouted, which fulfilled the reinforcement requirements under the tectonic stress regions and front abutment zones. Besides, the grouting borehole construction requested predrilled boreholes, full borehole intubation, lengthened hole sealing, and multiple-step drilling and grouting. This study can provide a theoretical framework of a design overview and practical basis for similar mining conditions in other coalfields.

Coal mining can cause the strata distortion and surface subsidence. With infrastructure construction scale in our country enlargement, the case of approaching excavation caused by coal mining is increasing and more complicated. The calculation method of current regulations is too simple and don't conform to the present coal mining technology, so it will cause serious waste of resources. By using numerical simulation, this paper regards the influence of coal mining on the above tunnel as approaching excavation problem and studies the tunnel deformation law with three different coal mining mode. Based on the analysis and calculation, this paper proposes measures to ensure that the coal seam mining and tunnel's safety. The result indicates the more smaller the dip angle of coal block the more larger the displacement and the deformation range of tunnel. The most effective method for decrease deformation is the backfill method. If the conditions are permitted, backfill method is the preferred method and longwall caving method is last.

The strip replacement mining in short-distance thin coal seam is one of the effective methods controlling displacement deformation of overlying strata and surface subsidence in coal mining under buildings and railroads and water bodies. The method has a great theoretical significance and application value by increasing recovery rate of coal resources and cutting down the effect of coal mining on environment and surface of mining area. The numerical simulation method is adopted to study the surface deformation characteristics by the strip replacement mining in short-distance thin coal seam. Such conclusions are drawn as follows: the strip project of forty meters mining with forty meters reserving is quite suitably selected while half of mining rate; ten meters in replacement width of coal pillar is relatively optimum; the feasibility of the strip replacement mining technology is verified by the simulation. Therefore, the strip replacement mining technology has provided one kind of new thought to coal mining under buildings and railroads and water bodies.

In the article, the results of research on the methodology for conducting studies with corn culture under various methods of sowing and weather conditions. The aim of the research was to establish and evaluate the reliability and high accuracy of the experiment, with a decrease in the area's acreage and taking one plant per repetition. Based on the results of the analysis of biometric parameters and yields, the possibility of sampling from 5 to 108 plants was established statistically and mathematically to establish the accuracy of the experiment. The established parameters of sites in experiments with maize indicate the possibility of obtaining much more information from a smaller unit of area, that is, to increase labor productivity not only with tilled crops. This is the goal of further scientific research with other field crops taking 1 plant of repetitions, observing the conditions of leveling the experimental plot according to the fertility of the soil and sowing seeds with high condition. The data obtained give grounds for continuing research on the minimum space required and the sample in the experiments.

The article proves that it is impossible to achieve a significant increase in the salary of medical personnel within the existing system of healthcare financing of the Russian Federation, namely, in accordance with the “may” Decrees of 2012 by V. V. Putin, to bring the salary of doctors to a level twice higher than the average for the region by 2018. It is proved that to achieve the necessary results in terms of increasing doctors’ salaries and motivating citizens to increase labor productivity and a healthy lifestyle, it is necessary to transfer the system of healthcare financing within the framework of obligatory medical insurance to medical savings accounts.

Abstract Objectives The objective of this study was to establish the reliability and content validity of the “Modified Naranjo Criteria for Homeopathy—Causal Attribution Inventory” as a tool for attributing a causal relationship between the homeopathic intervention and outcome in clinical case reports. Methods Purposive sampling was adopted for the selection of information-rich case reports using pre-defined criteria. Eligible case reports had to fulfil a minimum of nine items of the CARE Clinical Case Reporting Guideline checklist and a minimum of three of the homeopathic HOM-CASE CARE extension items. The Modified Naranjo Criteria for Homeopathy Inventory consists of 10 domains. Inter-rater agreement in the scoring of these domains was determined by calculating the percentage agreement and kappa (κ) values. A κ greater than 0.4, indicating fair agreement between raters, in conjunction with the absence of concerns regarding the face validity, was taken to indicate the validity of a given domain. Each domain was assessed by four raters for the selected case reports. Results Sixty case reports met the inclusion criteria. Inter-rater agreement/concordance per domain was “perfect” for domains 1 (100%, κ = 1.00) and 2 (100%, κ = 1.00); “almost perfect” for domain 8 (97.5%, κ = 0.86); “substantial” for domains 3 (96.7%, κ = 0.80) and 5 (91.1%, κ = 0.70); “moderate” for domains 4 (83.3%, κ = 0.60), 7 (67.8%, κ = 0.46) and 9 (99.2%, κ = 0.50); and “fair” for domain 10 (56.1%, κ = 0.38). For domains 6A (46.7%, κ = 0.03) and 6B (50.3%, κ = 0.18), there was “slight agreement” only. Thus, the validity of the Modified Naranjo Criteria for Homeopathy tool was established for each of its domains, except for the two that pertain to direction of cure (domains 6A and 6B). Conclusion The Modified Naranjo Criteria for Homeopathy—Causal Attribution Inventory was identified as a valid tool for assessing the likelihood of a causal relationship between a homeopathic intervention and clinical outcome. Improved wordings for several criteria have been proposed for the assessment tool, under the new acronym “MONARCH”. Further assessment of two MONARCH domains is required.

The following article analyzes the effectiveness of directional hydraulic fracturing (DHF) as a method of rock burst prevention, used in black coal mining with a longwall system. In order to define changes in seismic activity due to DHF at the “Rydułtowy” Black Coal Mine (Upper Silesia, Poland), observations were made regarding the seismic activity of the rock mass during coal mining with a longwall system using roof layers collapse. The seismic activity was recorded in the area of the longwall itself, where, on a part of the runway, the rock mass was expanded before the face of the wall by interrupting the continuity of the rock layers using DHF. The following article presents measurements in the form of the number and the shock energy in the area of the observed longwall, which took place before and after the use of DHF. The second part of the article unveils the results of numerical modeling using the discrete element method, allowing to track the formation of goafs for the variant that does not take DHF into consideration, as well as with modeled fractures tracing DHF carried out in accordance with the technology used at “Rydułtowy” coal mine.

Selection and assessment of mining equipment used in open pit rock mines relies chiefly on estimates of overall exploitation cost. The rational arrangement of mining equipment and systems comprising loading machines, haul trucks and crushing plants should be preceded by a thorough analysis of technical and economic aspects, such as investment outlays and the costs of further exploitation, which largely determine the costs of mining operations and the deposit value. Additionally, the operational parameters of the mining equipment ought to be considered. In this study, a universal set of evaluation criteria has been developed, and an evaluation method has been applied for the selection of surface mining equipment and the processing system to be operated in specific mining conditions, defined by the user. The objective of this study is to develop and apply the new methodology of multi-criteria selection of open pit rock mining equipment based on multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) procedures, to enable the optimization of loading, handling and crushing processes. The methodology, underpinned by the principles of MCDM, provides the dedicated ranking procedures, including the ELECTRE III. The applied methodology allows the alternative options (variants) to be ranked accordingly. Ultimately, a more universal methodology is developed, applicable in other surface mines where geological and mining conditions are similar. It may prove particularly useful in selection and performance assessment of mining equipment and process line configurations in mining of low-quality rock deposits. Therefore, we undertook to develop universal criteria and applications for the selection and performance assessment of process machines for surface mines, taking into account environmental aspects as well as deposit quality.
