The method that I use is a qualitative approach by observing issues that exist and then assessing the criteria for the concept of livable street through the study of literature, then the process of analysis of pedestrian flows, the level of pedestrian services, pedestrian path width requirements, and analysis of variable variable from the concept of liveable street. This research was conducted to solve problems in pedestrian routes that are not liveable in the old Chinatown district of Bandung city. Abstrak. Abstract: The revitalization of the old city of Semarang was carried out because of the strong tourism potential when viewed from history and economy, besides that there are regulations regarding conservation that resulted in the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) in 2016-2021 to respond to the coronation of the old city of Semarang as a tentative list ( 2015) with the aim of the UNESCO World Heritage status. The revitalization with the concept of "Little Netherland" is divided into several stages. In 2020, only 2 stages are known, namely the first stage which focuses on infrastructure and the second stage focuses on the construction of new landmarks in the form of museums. This study is more focused on the real results of the phase 1 revitalization which began in 2017 and was declared complete in mid-2020. If it is considered in general, Revitalization phase 1 is quite successful because it can revive the old city area both in terms of public interest and tourists and also the economy. because. However, in terms of history, architecture and planology, there are still many things that are considered odd, and if it is not immediately responded it will be a problem in the future, these things include: status of building ownership, vandalism, congestion, limited parking space, Incompatibility between the concept and DED, Failure to work on DED infrastructureAbstrak: Revitalisasi Kota lama Semarang, dilakukan karna adanya potensi wisata yang kuat jika ditinjau dari sejarah dan ekonomi, selain itu adanya regulasi mengenai konservasi yang menghasilkan Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Daerah (RPJMD) pada tahun 2016-2021 untuk merespon penobatan kota lama Semarang sebagai tentative list (2015) dengan tujuan status world Heritage dari UNESCO.Revitalisasi dengan konsep “Little Netherland” ini terbagi dalam beberapa tahap.

This study aims to assess a sense of place in the context of an Indonesian city through real-time walking experience. With rapid urban development, the cityscape may change, leading to a lack of a sense of place. Here, the sense of place was measured by utilizing individual reactions to different urban design qualities and perceptual qualities during walking. Previous methods on visitors’ evaluation of places, walking experience and photographing, were adapted by adding two more stages: in-depth interviews and a workshop, obtaining participants’ opinions and behaviours. The analysis results showed that the participants experienced the sense of place through physical and non-physical features corresponding to walking speed. While the old buildings and ornament details attracted participants’ attention, this study demonstrated that the two-way interaction with residents also strengthened the sense of place. The major finding was that the participants were concerned about improving pedestrian infrastructure and the conservation of old buildings in the area. With the assistance of in-depth interviews and a workshop, participants’ perspectives were visually reflected in a comprehensive way. This study may be helpful for urban planners to manage the sense of place in historic city centres under the pressure of rapid urban development.

The current urban development in China has generally entered the stage of urban renewal. Facing the urban mix of old and new, different forms of collage picture, the urban design exploration of continuing the urban context has important theoretical value and practical significance for the urban renewal of the old urban area. Based on the analysis of the explicit and implicit context, this paper raises six strategies for urban design in the old city, namely texture improvement, building integration, interface reconstruction, information implantation, functional compounding, and benefit balancing. As an empirical evidence, the urban design of the old city further discusses the importance of the continuity of the context for urban renewal in the old city.

Informality is one of the commonly emerged issues in urban design which rarely explored, especially informality within university’s perimeter. Brawijaya as one of the biggest and oldest University in Malang over time has boosted the development of several of its perimeter, provided several hotspots for students and youth. These rapid hotspots growth is related to the growth of informal practices. For cities that developed by its universities, it is necessary to understand both of the formal and informal practices within its perimeter. Through this study I would like to know the characteristic of informality within university perimeter, which formed by Brawijaya, UIN Maliki, and ITN; and to frame it within Carmona’s Urban Design Dimension. Mapping is utilized as a primary method to analyze both formal and informality within site. The formal aspect consists of formal activities, function and site user. While informality mapper consists of street vendors and street art. The research found that while urban informality within Brawijaya and UIN Maliki are related to the character and morphology, its formal structure has; its relation is reciprocal. The morphological, visual and functional dimension of university perimeter is driven by the social, perceptual and temporal dimension formed by its user and showed through informality.
