Someone who dies will experience a decrease in body temperature from body temperature at the beginning of death, both within normal and abnormal limits to room temperature. Decrease in body temperature according to sex may differ in duration. Coupled with exposure to methanol, it is also possible to influence a decrease in body temperature of the corpse. This study aimed to analyze the differences in body temperature reduction in male and female Wistar rats  induced with methanol.This research is an experimental study with a pre and post test control group design approach. The design of this study was to observe the body temperature of male and female Wistar rats while still alive and after death and the duration of decrease in body temperature of male and female Wistar mice after being induced with methanol. The population studied was male and female Wistar rat. Based on the results from analysis test, it can be concluded that there is no significant difference between the decrease in body temperature of male and female Wistar rats that died induced by methanol, but there is a significant difference between the decrease in body temperature of male and female Wistar rats who died induced by methanol and without methanol.

The immunizations that must be given to children include the Diphtheria Pertussis Tetatus-Hepatitis B-Hemophilus Influenza type B vaccine or better known as Pentabio DPT. The DTwP / HB / HiB vaccine is given to babies in 3 doses at 1 month intervals. This immunization caused a systemic reaction, one of which was a fever of 0.85% in the first 30 minutes and increased to 14.03% on the day after immunization. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of shallots (Allium ascalonicum L) in reducing the body temperature of feverish children after Pentabio DPT immunization. This type of research was quasi-experimental study, with pre and post test with control group design. The sample in this study were babies who received DPT immunization as many as 20 respondents. DPT Pentabio immunization was given a dose of 0.5 ml in the intervention group and the control group. The statistical test used was the T test. The results showed that there was a significant effect of shallots on in reducing the body temperature of feverish children after Pentabio DPT immunization, with a p-value of 0.000. Vaksin DTwP/HB/HiB diberikan kepada bayi sebanyak 3 dosis dengan interval 1 bulan. Imunisasi ini menimbulkan reaksi sistemik salah satunya berupa demam 0,85% pada 30 menit pertama dan meningkat menjadi 14,03% pada satu hari pasca imunisasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui efektifitas bawang merah (Allium ascalonicum L) terhadap penurunan suhu tubuh anak demam pasca imunisasi DPT Pentabio. Jenis penelitian quasi eksperimen dengan pre and post test with control group design. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah bayi yang mendapat imunisasi DPT sebanyak 20 orang responden. Pemberian imunisasi DPT PENTABIO Pentabio dosis 0,5 ml pada kelompok intervensi dan kelompok kontrol. Uji statistik yang digunakan adalah Uji T. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari bawang merah dalam menurunkan suhu tubuh anak demam pasca imunisasi DPT Pentabio, dengan p-value 0,000. Triglycerides are source of energy in the body, but triglyceride deposits that exceed the threshold will cause health problems, so triglycerides should be lowered to normal. The reduction of triglycerides can be done through physical activity, therefore this study aims to reveal the effect of regular swimming exercises and irregular exercises against triglyceride levels. This research is an experimental research using The Post Test Only Control Group Design design. Subjects of the study were male of Rattus Norvegicus Wistar, 39 subjects was divided into 3 groups with Matched Subject Design technique, which consisted of 2 groups of treatment that is regular and irregular group, and control group. The exercise program was given a swimming with a 3% weight of body weight and was tied 5 cm from the tip of the tail which was performed 3 times per week consistently for regular exercise and 0 to 5 times per week inconsistently for irregular exercise for 12 weeks, While the control group was not given training. In the last week before the blood was taken, the first three groups were given swimming treatment exercises. Based on the results of the anava test, there was a significant difference in the reduction of triglyceride levels among white mice who were given regular exercise with irregular exercise. These results suggest that regular exercise has a better impact on triglyceride reduction than irregular exercise, due to the higher adaptation process of regular exercise.

Abstrak Pseudomonas aeruginosa adalah bakteri penyebab infeksi terbanyak yang resisten terhadap antibiotik. Glutamin adalah asam amino yang terdapat dalam tubuh yang salah satu fungsinya dapat memodulasi imunitas tubuh. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menentukan potensi glutamin dalam meningkatkan kemampuan sistem imun terhadap infeksi P. aeruginosa. Penelitian eksperimental dengan post test only control group design telah dilakukan terhadap 24 ekor mencit usia 6-8 minggu dengan berat 30 gr. Mencit dibagi ke dalam dua kelompok, yaitu kontrol (K) danperlakuan (P) yang diberi glutamin dengan dosis 30 mg/kg/hari selama 14 hari. Isolasi makrofag peritoneum mencit dilakukan pada hari ke-15 dan dilakukan uji fagositosis menggunakan latex dan bakteri P. aeruginosa. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap persentase makrofag aktif terhadap latex dan P. aeruginosa. Hasil pengamatan dan analisisstatistik menggunakan metode t-test menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara kontrol dan perlakuan (p<0.05). Persentase makrofag aktif terhadap latex adalah 0,63 ± 0,058 (K) dan 0,84 ± 0,04 (P), sedangkan terhadap P. aeruginosa adalah 0,56± 0,07 (K) dan 0,80± 0,03 (P). Terlihat bahwa angka persentase fagositosis terhadap P.aeruginosa lebih kecil karena adanya kemampuan bakteri untuk menghadapi makrofag dibandingkan latex. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa asam amino non-esensial glutamin memiliki pengaruh untuk meningkatkan kemampuan sistem imun tubuh. Glutamine is an amino acid  in the body that able to modulate the body's immune function. The objective of this study was to determine the potential of glutamine in enhancing the ability of the immune system against infection of P.aeruginosa. Experimental research with post test only control group design was conducted on 24 male minutes 6-8 weeks of age weighing 30 grams. Mice were divided into two groups: control (K) and treatment (P) are given glutamine at a dose of 30 mg / kg / day for 14 days. Isolation of peritoneal macrophages of mice performed on day-15 and testedusing latex and bacterial phagocytosis of P. aeruginosa. Observations were made of the percentage of activated macrophages toward latex and P. aeruginosa. The observation result and statistical analysis using t -test showed a significant difference between the control and treatment (p <0.05). The percentage of active macrophages to latex was0.63 ± 0.058 (K) and 0.84 ± 0.04 (P), while to P. aeruginosa is 0.56 ± 0.07 (K) and 0.80 ± 0.03 (P). That seein it percentage of phagocytosis against P. aeruginosa smaller than compared to latex. Because of the ability of bacteria to confront macrophages. The conclusion from this study is a non-essensial amino acid glutamine has the effect to increase the ability of the body's immune system. Abstract Infectious diseases can occur in all parts of the body. One of the causes infection in humans is Eschericiae coli bacteria. Eschericiae coli is a rod-shaped bacteria, a gram negative bacteria, facultative aerobics and classified family member of Enterobacteriaceae from the Gammaproteobacteria class. Along the times, E.coli bacteria have resistent to some antibiotics. So we need a new alternative. There is a antibacterial substance in the isoflavon group contained in edamame. Genistein is a main isoflavon in edamame that have antiinflammation, antibacterial, and antioxidant effects. The purpose of this study was to determine is there any antibacterial effects in ethanol edamame seeds extract to E.coli bacteria. This study used a true experimental research design in vitro with a post test only control group design.  The average diameter results of the inhibition zone were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis method and obtained p = 0.001 which means there are significant differences in at least two groups. After that, the Mann Whitney post hoc test was conducted and a significant difference was found in the positive and negative control groups for all groups but there was no difference in the treatment group, both groups K1, K2 and K3 for all groups. The aim of this experiment was to determine the effect of meniran herbs (Phyllantus niruri L.) extract to blood triglycerides level in Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus). This experiment was a laboratory experiment with pre and post-test with a control group design. The samples were 30 male Wistar rats with ±200 gram of body weight and ±2 months old. The samples were divided into five groups by using a purposive random sampling technique and each group consisted of six rats. Group I as a negative control, group II as a positive control, and groups III, IV and V as meniran herbs extract groups with first dose, second dose, and third dose. All rats were simultaneously given with hyperlipemic feed. Group II was simultaneously administered with Cholvastin 0.5 mg/200 grams body weight/day. Groups III, IV and V were simultaneously treated with meniran herbs extract at dose of 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg/200 grams body weight/day. The total period of this experiment was 21 days. At the day 1st and 21st, blood was collected from rat orbital venous plexus. Serum was analyzed for their pre and post-test blood triglycerides. Statistical analysis was performed by one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by a post-hoc test. The value of p=0.002 (p<0.05) showed there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test in delta means of blood triglycerides level among groups. Meniran herbs extract had a significant triglycerides lowering effect against blood triglycerides level of Wistar rats. The most potential of meniran herbs extract dose was 100 mg/200 gram body weight/day.

Introduction: Lead exposure has a negative impact on health. Lead can caused abnormality hematologic parameters. Orthosiphon stamineus Benth is one of the herbal medicines and known to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-angiogenesis. Objective: This study aims to prove the effect of Orthosiphon stamineus Benth on hematologic parameters in lead acetate induced Wistar rat. Method: The study used posttest only control group design. The samples were 30 male Wistar rats, divided into 5 groups. Normal control group (NC) was given normal saline. Negative control group (NG) was induced by lead acetate 30 mg/kg/day. GT-50, GT-100, GT-200 was induced by lead acetate and orally administered by 50,100, and 200 mg/kg Orthosiphon extract once daily for 14 days respectively. One-way Anova and post hoc LSD were used for statistical analysis. Result: Hemoglobin level and leukocyte count in all group were not different (p=0.56 and p=0.25). There was a significant difference in platelet count between all group (p=0.035). Platelet count in NC group (900 ±171 x103/μl) was significantly higher than NG group (656±201 x103/μl, p=0.016), NG group was significantly lower than GT-50 (869±134 x103/μl, p=0.032), GT-100 (930±162 x103/μl, p=0.008) and GT-200 (938±148 x103/μl, p=0.006) Conclusion: There is a decrement of platelets number in lead acetate exposure. <p><strong>Background</strong>: The porang tuber (<em>Amorphophallus oncophyllus</em>) is a functional food containing glucomannan that has many advantages in health. However, porang flour can not be consumed, because the high content of calcium oxalate that have the risk on kidney disease. It can be reduced by physical or chemical treatment. Keji beling (<em>Strobilanthes crispa </em>L. Blume<em>)</em> has been proved for its function in dissolving the calcium oxalate, but its uses in decreasing of calcium oxalate has not been studied yet.</p><p><strong>Objectives</strong>: To evaluate the effect of porang flour on ureum levels of wistar rat blood in acute toxicity test.<strong></strong></p><p><strong>Methods</strong>: The research was experimental with pre and post without control group design. The samples were 20 female Wistar rats, aged 8-10 weeks with body weight of 100-180 grams. Rats were divided into 4 groups of treatment those were native porang with the dose of 2000, 5000 mg/kg of body weight, porang flour with soaking of extract at the dose 2000 and 5000 mg/kg of body weight. Porang was incorporated orally into the mouth of rats after 18 hours of adaptation. At the 24<sup>th</sup> and  72<sup>nd</sup> hours after treatment, the bloods were collected and analyzed for their ureum levels.</p><p><strong>Results</strong>: The statistical test showed that there was an effect of porang flour with and without soaking of keji beling extract before and after treatment on ureum level at the dose of 2000 and 5000 mg/kg body weight, however there was no significant difference ureum level of the same dose at 24<sup>th</sup> or 72<sup>nd</sup> hours, except on the dose of 2000 mg / kg weight at the 72<sup>nd</sup> hour. Results of observation between the 24<sup>th</sup> hour compared to the 72<sup>nd</sup> hour showed that there was no significant difference of urea value (p&gt; 0.05). Increased levels of ureum was influenced by the calcium oxalate content contained in porang flour. In TPM, ureum level was higher than that in TPK.</p><p><strong>Conclusions</strong> : The increase in urea levels was still in normal range, therefore porang flour is still safe for consumption.</p><div class="WordSection1"><p><strong>KEYWORDS</strong>: acute toxicity, porang flour, urea, keji beling</p></div>

Abstract: Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is widely used in daily life as a flavor enhancer in food. MSG is the combination of sodium salt component and glutamic acid-L (a non essential amino acid), which is highly soluble in water. Glutamate in MSG is not bound to protein molecules, but in the free form, therefore, it will form free radicals in the body. Free radicals in the body can be neutralized by antioxidants. Tomatoes are fruits that contain several antioxidants (lycopene, vitamin C and vitamin A). Lycopene is an antioxidant that is the highest in tomatoes. Lycopene reduces free radicals in the body by releasing up one of its electrons to bind with free radicals so the free radicals do not bind to other cells in the body and reduces the damage in the body. This study was aimed to determine the histological changes in the kidneys of Wistar rats induced by MSG, and of those that were added tomato juice. This was an experimental study with a post test only control group design. The study used 15 Wistar rats divided into three groups: group I without treatment (pellets AD II and drinking water); group II, MSG for 14 days; and group III, tomato juice and MSG for 14 days. The results showed that in both treatment groups there were visible swelling of tubular epithelial cells and narrowing of the tubular lumen, albeit, the glomeruli still looked normal.Keywords: tomato juice, MSG, kidney damage Abstrak: Monosodium glutamat (MSG) banyak digunakan sebagai penyedap rasa dalam makanan. MSG adalah gabungan antara komponen garam sodium dan asam glutamat–L (suatu asam amino non esensial) yang bersifat sangat larut dalam air. Glutamat dalam MSG tidak terikat pada molekul protein melainkan dalam bentuk bebas sehingga dapat membentuk radikal bebas didalam tubuh. Radikal bebas didalam tubuh dapat dinetralisir oleh antioksidan. Tomat mengandung berbagai antioksidan (likopen, vitamin C dan vitamin A) terutama likopen. Likopen mengurangi radikal bebas didalam tubuh dengan cara melepaskan satu elektronnya untuk berikatan dengan radikal bebas yang dapat mengurangi kerusakan yang terjadi dalam tubuh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran histologik ginjal tikus wistar kelompok perlakuan I diinduksi MSG dan kelompok perlakuan II yang diberikan MSG dan jus tomat. Jenis penelitian ialah eksperimental dengan post test only control group design. Penelitian menggunakan 15 ekor tikus wistar dibagi tiga kelompok: kelompok I tanpa perlakuan (pellet AD II dan air minum); kelompok II diberi MSG selama 14 hari; dan kelompok III diberi jus tomat dan MSG selama 14 hari. Gambaran histologik ginjal pada kelompok perlakuan I (MSG) dan kelompok perlakuan II (MSG dan jus tomat) memperlihatkan glomerulus normal, pembengkakan sel epitel tubuli, dan penyempitan lumen tubuli. Tidak tampak perbedaan nyata antara kedua kelompok. Kata kunci: jus tomat, MSG, kerusakan ginjal

ABSTRACTBackground: Ramania leaf (Bouea macrophylla Griff) extract gel has secondary metabolites in the form of flavonoids, steroids, phenols and terpenoids which have a role as antioxidant. They will protect the body from excessive production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by increasing endogenous antioxidants SOD, CAT and GPX, so that wound healing will not be inhibited and the process of collagen synthesis can run smoothly. Objective: To analyze the effect of ramania leaf extract gel that was applied topically with 5%, 10% and 15% concentration on collagen fibers density in incisional wound of male Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) on the 7th and the 14th day. Method: This research is a pure experimental study with a posttest-only control group design, using 24 rats which were divided into 4 groups: the treatment groups given ramania leaf extract gel of 5%, 10%, 15%, and the control group given placebo gel. The application of the extract gel was done once within 24 hours. The collagen level was measured with a spectrophotometer on the 7th and the 14th day. Results: Two-Way ANOVA test results on the 7th and the 14th day of each group showed a significant difference with p=0.000 (p<0.05). The Bonferroni Post-hoc Test showed a significant difference with p<0.05 between the placebo gel group and the groups of ramania leaf extract gel of 5%, 10%, 15% on the 7th and the 14th day. Conclusion: There is an effect of ramania leaf extract gel on collagen fibers density with the most effective concentration of 15%.Keywords: Antioxidant, , Collagen, Ramania Leaf Extract Gel

Background :  Pain is one of the most common complaint in patients. Combination of paracetamol and codeine is an alternative analgesic combination in chronic pain management. They belong to different group of analgesic and have different mechanism of action. Combination of these drugs give a better potential in pain management.  However, these drugs also have potential side effect on the kidney.Methods : An experimental study of post-test only control group design. The sample were 20 Wistar rats, randomized into 4 groups: control group, a group receiving paracetamol 32 mg/kg body weight, a group receiving codeine 1,9 mg/kg body weight, and a group receiving paracetamol 32 mg/kg body weight and codeine 1,9 mg combination, administered 4 times a day orally using gastric instillation for 28 days. At the 29th day, blood is collected from retro orbital vessel to measure the serum creatinine levels. Statistical analysis was conducted using ANOVA TestResult : Obtained from statistical analysis there is no significant difference in serum creatinine levels in Wistar rats given all treatment group (p > 0,05).Conclusion : There is no significant difference in serum creatinine levels between administration of paracetamol and codeine combination compared to the control group.Keywords : Paracetamol, Codeine, Creatinine Serum, Pain
