Women are more vulnerable to reproductive health risks, including sexually transmitted infections, verbal abuse, and physical violence. Good knowledge and attitude regarding gender equality before starting a marriage is vital so that the two brides and grooms are mutually responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the bride and groom. Online social media is designed to facilitate interactive social interactions based on internet technology. Whatsapp is the most popular chat application for Indonesians. This is an opportunity when used for learning activities because WhatsApp can convey messages in text, images, sounds, and videos to deliver news about sexual and reproductive health that can be more relevant. The subject of this research is the bride and groom at KUA Cibadak Kab. Lebak, Banten Province. The design of this research is pre-post with control group design. The control group was given lectures on sexual and reproductive health, and the treatment group was assigned health education through social media WhatsApp with 15 people in each group. Based on the results of statistical tests, it was found that there was an effect of WhatsApp social media health education on the knowledge and attitudes of the bride and groom about sexual and reproductive health with a p-value of 0.001. WhatsApp social media can be used as a medium for reproductive and sexual health education for brides and grooms.

This integrative literature review strives to determine if the delivery of reproductive and sexual health services provided through high school-based primary care clinics can improve BC adolescent sexual and reproductive health. Adolescent sexual and reproductive health not only impacts life-long health; it also has significant societal implications. Although BC has begun to focus on adolescent health, innovative health service solutions are needed to improve adolescents’ health. Systematic search through the University of Northern British Columbia online library databases and Google scholar and the evaluation of the literature using CASP analysis tools resulted in the inclusion of 10 articles. Findings suggest school-based health clinics (SBHCs) decrease barriers that adolescents experience when accessing health services as well as public health system costs. Moreover, SBHCs are an effective mechanism to support adolescent reproductive and sexual health needs, especially in those populations with elevated levels of sexual and reproductive risk factors. However, for SBHCs to be effective, sustainable funding needs to be sourced, and barriers adolescents experience when accessing services need to be evaluated and addressed. SBHCs can complement current adolescent-friendly services to meet this unique population’s needs; however, further research is needed. More robust research on various demographics, health outcomes, and Canadian-based examination is required to strengthen SBHC implementation recommendations.

Purpose Addressing overweight in the population is an important public health challenge. Use of social media such as Facebook has been proposed as a platform to deliver weight loss interventions to influence behavior change to tackle obesity. The purpose of this paper is to compare the effectiveness of weight loss education and support interventions delivered through online social media (experimental group) vs conventional method (control group). Design/methodology/approach The six-month experimental study comprised of a four-month intervention and a two-month follow up from May 2016 to October 2016. All faculties in a university were randomly selected into the experimental or control group. Then, undergraduate students (n=66) were randomly recruited from each faculty into the corresponding groups (experimental group=33 and control group=33). Both groups received health education and support services through either Facebook or the offline support system. The mean differences of main outcomes including body mass index (BMI) and waist to height ratio (WHtR) between groups at baseline and fourth month and baseline and sixth month were compared using t-test. Findings The results show those in the experimental group had significantly better outcomes in term of BMI and WHtR at the end of four-month intervention with the mean difference (95% CI) at 0.7 (0.1, 1.3) and 0.01 (0.00, 0.01), respectively. The differences at the end of the study, however, became insignificant. Originality/value The health education and support services through Facebook can be used in a weight loss promotion program for BMI and WHtR reduction. On a larger scale to replace conventional programs, a long-term continuous measure is needed.

Background: Adolescent pregnancy is one of the major public health issues globally, as well as in Thailand. Sexual health literacy (SHL) has been a proved effective intervention for preventing teenage pregnancy. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of mobile messages to improve sexual and reproductive health literacy among secondary school female students. Methods: A comparative cross-sectional study with pre–post design was conducted in two secondary schools of rural Thailand. 128 respondents were selected through a simple random sampling method; equal number of female secondary school students were selected from each school. Health education through mobile messages on sexual and reproductive health literacy were delivered in one group while the other group was observed through routine care for 24 weeks. Baseline (pre) and endline (post) measurement was taken to compare the effects of mobile messages. Study was ethically approved by the institutional review board of Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. Results: Both groups were same at baseline and found statistically non-significant (p>0.05). After the 24-week health education program, the mean scores of health education groups was found statistically significant (p<0.05), while the mean score in observed group did not show any statistical change (p>0.05) . Level of sexual health literacy scores among female students in the health education group was found statistically significant (p<0.05) in all four domains. While, the observation group was remained same at both measurements pre and post (p=0.521). Conclusion: The study concluded that the mobile messages have proved an effective information method for sexual and reproductive health information among female secondary students of rural Thailand.

Objective: reporting the experience of nursing academics as the assistance provided in the area of reproductive and sexual health to prisoner women. Methodology: this is a descriptive study of type case studies about the experience of nursing students in extension project "Nursing care: contributions on reproductive health of inmate women of a penitentiary in Teresina", in the months from march to december 2013. Results: health assistance in Brazilian prisons is still deficient, however, despite the limitations, it can be performed activities aiming at an effective nursing care, because despite the obstacles, it is due to the nurse and to the health team working on the development of strategies for coping with difficulties, by optimizing available resources. Conclusion: experience has shown that the full nursing care to prisoner women’s health, in the context of sexual and reproductive health is essential, mainly because these women constitute a vulnerable population to the development of various diseases. Abstract Objective: To assess the effect of curriculum-based sexual and reproductive health intervention on the comprehensive knowledge and attitude to condom use among first-year students at Arba Minch University. Results: A total of 832 students participated at a baseline, and 820 students participated at posttest. This study found that there was a significant effect on changing students’ knowledge and attitude towards a condom. In the intervention group, the students’ average change of comprehensive condom knowledge score was 0.229 higher than the average score of student’ in the control group (ATE=0.229, 95% CI, 0.132 to 0.328; p < 0.001). The average change of attitude toward condom score of students’ in the intervention group was 1.834 higher than the average change score of students’ in control group (ATE=1.834, 95% CI, 1.195 to 2.772; p < 0.001).This study provides further evidence on the effect of the curriculum-based comprehensive sexual and reproductive health education effective in terms of knowledge and attitude towards a condom. Therefore, this education intervention should be strengthening the implementation of the control and prevent youths from HIV/AIDS and unintended pregnancy.

Data on immigrant access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services in Canada typically focus on adult populations generally but not adolescents specifically. To fill this gap, this study explored South Asian immigrant adolescents’ perceptions of barriers and facilitators for SRH care and services in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In this qualitative descriptive study, researchers conducted six focus group semi-structured interviews with South Asian immigrant adolescents who live in Edmonton, Canada. Barriers included fear of stigma and judgment, lack of information about the healthcare system, lack of privacy and youth-friendly SRH services, lack of comprehensive sexuality education, lack of trust of online SRH information, and language barriers. Facilitators included SRH information classes at school, parental support, and provision of free services. South Asian immigrant adolescents expressed their need for more inclusive and relevant sexual health education, more support from parents and teachers with adequate and evidence-based SRH information and effective communication strategies to enhance communication with adolescents, and more youth-driven integrated health promotion programs to allow them to make informed choices. Their voices and perspectives are useful in informing inclusive and youth-centered sexual health education at home, in school, and in the community.

ABSTRACTIntroduction: In adolescence, there are various changes, both physical, cognitive, and social, which cause adolescents vulnerable to reproductive health problems. The family as the closest part of adolescence is one of the main factors in improving adolescent reproductive health and has a very important role in providing sexual and reproductive health information to adolescents. Objective: to find out the communication between parents and teenagers about sexual and reproductive health. Method: The design used is a systematic review. Journal searches are conducted on online databases such as PubMed, Elsevier, Science Direct, and Google Scholar. Journals, articles, and literature reviews were found using keywords parent-adolescent communication, sexual and reproductive health, adolescents. Results: A total of 7 journal articles selected from 28 articles showed that communication between parents and adolescents regarding reproductive and sexual health was very important to do. However, the implementation is still lacking due to various factors such as lack of parental knowledge, parents lacking in communication skills, the presence of shame, and cultural influences that consider reproductive and sexual health issues as taboo to be discussed with adolescents. Discussion: The communication of parents and adolescents regarding reproductive and sexual health has been widely investigated in various countries. Interventions are needed to improve the quality of communication between parents and adolescents through increasing the knowledge of parents of these adolescents.

Recommendations from stakeholders were incorporated, and the feasibility of a 5-week SHE program was evaluated. Adolescence is a developmental stage from the transition to adulthood. A cognitive problem that affects adolescence namely the lack of knowledge about reproductive health. The purpose of this study was to explain the effectiveness of health education using audio-visual methods on students' knowledge and attitudes about adolescent reproductive health during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research uses a quasi-experimental design. The results obtained from the 75 respondents who filled out the questionnaire showed that the attitude of the students on the pre-test score was 60,00 and the post-test was 63,45, whereas the students' knowledge on the pre-test score was 15,89 and the post-test is 17,20. From the results of the research carried out with the Wilcoxon test that the Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) is worth 0,0001 where the value is less than <0.005, therefore the hypothesis was accepted. Using audiovisual media is that it will add more real material content and will increase memory retention due to media that is much interesting and easy to remember by the individual, factors that can influence knowledge and attitudes related to reproductive and sexual health in adolescents are knowledge, attitudes and the individual's environment in processing the information obtained. Therefore there is a significant effect of health education with audiovisual methods on increasing the knowledge and attitudes of adolescents related to reproductive and sexual health.
