The aim of this research is to describe and analyze the implementation of character education through a creative learning model at the elementary school. This research was conducted at Mendungan 2 State Elementary School in April-September 2018. The research used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data collection techniques used were direct observation, in-depth interview, and documentation. The data analysis steps consist of data presentation; data reduction; and verification, whereas the data validity tests include internal validity; external validity; reliability and objectivity. The research results showed that character education in elementary schools has been conducted well, that is, performed through a creative learning method which includes PAKEM learning; contextual teaching and learning (CTL); cooperative learning; and problem based learning. The model was used in thematic teaching which includes religious teaching; civics education; natural science; social science; Indonesian language; health and physical education; art culture and skills education; and dance art. The character values introduced include religious values; love of reading; honesty; discipline; tolerance; hard work; creativity; independence; democracy; nationalism; social care; and environmental care.

This study aims to develop and know the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) video about Electrical Energy Materials for Class VI Students of Islamic Elementary School.  The method used in this study was Research and Development with ADDIE steps.  The ADDIE is a model consisting of five steps that are Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation.  The study concludes that: 1) Analyze everything needed in development, 2) Design of CTL video framework in both layout and appearance, 3) Development of CTL video teaching materials from the collection of materials, preparation, validation, revision, and production of CTL videos, 4) Implementation CTL videos in learning, 5) Evaluation of the CTL video used concerning its effectiveness, practicality, and attractiveness in learning.  Subjects in this research were 30 student Islamic Elementary School of Siti Sulaechah Semarang, Central Java.  The data collection techniques used are interviews and questionnaires. The data analysis method in this research is qualitative and quantitative data analysis. SPSS 16 is used for quantitative analysis.  The results showed as follows, 1) teachers need learning videos that are innovative, interesting, and can improve students environmental care attitudes; 2) the form of development in the form of CTL videos through the steps of analysis, design, development, application, and evaluation; and 3) Contextual Teaching and Learning-based Learning Videos can in increasing environmental attitudes (paired-sample t-test, α = 0.00 0.05).

Abstract: Islamic character education for elementary school children is very important, as an effort to cultivate intelligence to students in thinking, and behaving in accordance with the noble values ​​that become their identity which can be realized in interaction with their God, themselves, others and their environment. School is a strategic place for character education because children from all walks of life will receive education at school. Additionally, children spent most of their time in school, so what they obtained in school will affect the formation of their character. To realize the generation that has good Islamic character, it is required to plant values of good personality into children. Therefore, the role of the educator is important, especially when it is in the process of teaching and learning. To instill Islamic character education for elementary school children, several methods need to be mastered by educators, such as parables, exemplary, habituation, advice (mauidhah), targhib and tarhib. With some of these methods, an educator can not only provide knowledge, but also internalize spiritual values ​​in his students. SD Plus Nurul Hikmah in Pamekasan prioritizes the formation of Islamic character for its implementation by using approaches, strategies and methods that are adapted to the character of students, and implemented through 15 programs of activities that contain Islamic character education.

Strengthening character education in schools is a government policy as an effort to re-put character as the core of education. The process of teaching and learning activities is currently carried out online and face-to-face while still prioritizing health protocols due to the pandemic. So, currently schools are required to continue to innovate in order to maximize the character education process in schools. The purpose of this study is to describe the strengthening of character education through school culture, the obstacles and efforts made during the pandemic. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. The research location was conducted at Alam Al-Karim Elementary School, Lampung. The research subjects are the Principal, Deputy Principal and Teachers. Based on the results of the research, strengthening character education through school culture is carried out in the form of habituation activities namely, Morning Activity, Daily Worship, Murajaah Qur'an, and Green Therapy as a means of socializing character values ​​and awareness to maintain health and mentally facing a pandemic. The obstacles are the limited time available and limited physical communication. The effort made by the school is through making a special curriculum in the new normal era. The conclusion of this research is that strengthening character education through school culture in the middle of a pandemic carried out by the Alam Al-Karim Elementary School is an alternative concept that can be applied in order to make character education effective as an important goal in education.

The arrival of foreign cultures due to globalization will be able to fade the culture of local communities if there is no selection process. Selection process can be done if a nation has a strong character foundation The 2013 curriculum as a reference for education in Indonesia has been emphasizing eighteen characters derived from local wisdom that need to be integrated in the teaching and learning process. The current study intended to explore the believe of primary school teachers on integrating Balinese local value called Tri Hita Karana in teaching character education. This study was a survey study followed by 94 elementary school teachers. The results show that elementary school teachers in Buleleng, Bali are aware of the significances of inserting the values of Tri Hita Karana in the learning process, they believe that the Tri Hita Karana concept is very much in accordance with the values of character education, and the integration of Tri Hita Karana values into the teaching and learning process will strengthen the students’ character and national identity.

Character or attitude or character is an inseparable component of a teaching and learning process and education. Character is formed from home, from the socialization of parents and the environment and can be well implanted in school. The application of character education in schools can be done through daily activities in schools both in teaching and learning activities, practicum and rest hours, both in routine activities, school conditioning and other routine activities. In addition, the internalization of character education can be done through extra-curricular activities in the form of student activity workshops, development of talent and interest groups, life skills education, competitions and competitions and school environment development. In addition to the above, internalization of character education is important to be socialized to parents through collaboration between school and family or parents.

This study aims to comprehend the implementation of character education with a comprehensive approach at Taman MudaJetis Elementary School Yogyakarta, to find out the obstacles in the implementation of character education with a comprehensive approach at Taman MudaJetis Elementary School Yogyakarta, and to know the solution to solve the obstacles in the implementation of character education with comprehensive approach at SD Taman MudaJetis Yogyakarta. This study uses a qualitative method. The data collecting technique uses in-depth interviewand direct observation. The steps of data analysis utilize Miles and Huberman model, which are data presentation, data reduction, and confirmation, while validity test data includes internal validity test, external validity, reliability, and objectivity.The results of this study indicate that character education applied in schools is not taught in the form of special subjects but integrated into all lessons with a comprehensive approach that includes inclusion, modelling, value facilitation, and soft skill development. The obstacles in the implementation of character education are the misused of the advancement of science and technology by learners, family and society factors and environment that does not support the learning, low teacher competence especially new teachers in implementing character values. The strategy to break the barriers in implementing character education is to form qualified and professional teachers by including teachers in professional training at local and national levels and increasing synergies between schools, families and communities.

The Development of Thematic Teaching Materials Islam and Local Wisdom Based Class IV of MIN (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri (State of Islamic Elementary School)) Seduri and MIS (Private of Islamic Elementary School) Nurul Amal Mojokerto Regenct. The application of curriculum 2013 requires every student of elementary school from first up to sixth graders to apply thematic study. The interview with the teacher of fourth grader of MIN (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri (State of Islamic Elementary School)) Seduri and MIS (Private of Islamic Elementary School) Nurul Amal Mojokerto Regency and also the observation in the field show that the teaching materials used from Ministry of Education and Culture of the theme of ‘My Place’ is not fit in with the condition of students’ place in Mojokerto Regency while the essence of curriculum 2013 of thematic study is to support the contextual aspect and close with students’ place. Else, the character education in curriculum 2013 must also be applied through Islamic habits which are done in school. These habits are not discussed in guide book from Ministry of Education and Culture. Therefore, this research objective is to develop the product of thematic teaching materials Islamic and local wisdom based. The feasibility of teaching materials which are developed is assessed according to the validity, interesting, effectiveness and application levels. The research result and development of thematic study materials are in form of (1) thematic teaching materials Islamic and local wisdom based. The materials are integrated with Islamic values in the teaching and learning activities and the materials about local wisdom of Mojokerto Regency such as historical buildings, special foods, dances and handicrafts. (2) the experts validity shows percentage of 89.17% with the criteria of high validity and deserved to be used. (3) the interesting level shows percentage of 93.12% with the criteria of high interesting and deserved to be used. (4) the effectiveness level shows percentage of 78.01 with the criteria of high effective. (5) application level shows percentage of 86.08% with the criteria of very good and fulfil the elements of application for teaching materials.

Indonesia is one of the positive countries for the corona virus (Covid-19). Experts cite several reasons for the increasing number of cases, one of which is the attitude of the public who careless about minimizing contact between people, the lack of sanctions for violations of self-quarantine, and the lack of location information that the community must avoid. The attitude of caring society, especially education actors, is certainly one of the important things that needs attention. Environmental care and responsibility are character values that need to be developed. Students can get character education through the learning process and learning resources, one of which is textbooks. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an integration of character values and what is the percentage of integration of character values in high school chemistry textbooks that have been used by teachers in learning, especially the character of environmental care and responsibility. This research is a quantitative descriptive study using the questionnaire and observation sheet instruments. The sample in this study is the class X chemistry textbook that is most often used in teaching and learning activities at SMA Negeri 2 and SMA Negeri 4 Langsa City. The results showed that there was an integration of the character values of environmental care and responsibility in the X grade chemistry textbooks used by teachers of SMA Negeri 2 and SMA Negeri 4 Kota Langsa. The integration of environmental care character values is 38%, while the responsibility character values is 63%. The integration of the character values of environmental care and responsibility in the class X chemistry textbook appears in the column project activities, student activities, content content, and evaluation.

<p>This study aims at determining the implementation of 5S programs at Muhammadiyah Elementary School Ambarbinangun Tirtonirmolo Bantul which include: General character education in general, teacher's understanding toward character education through 5S and principals and teachers efforts in building students character through 5S.</p><p>               This research is a case study qualitative research. Data collection techniques used in this research were interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques using data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. Data validity techniques used in this research was source and data triangulations.</p><p>               The results of this study indicate that Muhammadiyah Elementary School, Ambarbinangun has carried out the formation of student character through habituation of the implementation of the 5S as follows: (1) the teacher has understood the nature of character education well, (2) the implementation of the 5S is based on self-development which includes routine school activities, spontaneous activities, exemplary and conditioning. 5S is also implemented in the learning activities through; school’s curriculum, scoring and subjects. The school principal’s roles are coordinating, mobilizing, and harmonizing the implementation of teaching and learning processes at the school. Meanwhile, teachers give the students motivation to have better characters. It can be seen from the students’ routine activities to stay in lines in front of the class before entering each room then shaking hands with the teacher.</p><p>Keywords: Character building, application of 5 S (<em>senyum, sapa, salam , sopan santun</em>)</p>
