This study is aimed to determine the effectiveness of problem-solving learning in terms of mathematic critical thinking skills of the student in PGSD Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University. This study is quantitative research in the form of quasi-experiments with pretest-posttest control group research design. The population of this study is all students of the year 2016/2017 PGSD UST Yogyakarta. The experimental class and control class that taken at random are class C and class D. This research was conducted in April 2017 in PGSD UST Yogyakarta. The instrument of this study is the critical mathematical thinking skills test. instruments test were tested for validity using KMO and Bartlette's Test and reliability by using Cronbach's Alph. The data of the critical mathematical thinking test were analyzed using the SPSS program. Based on the hypothesis test, it can be concluded that the mathematics learning outcomes of students who are treated with problem-solving learning are as good as the students' mathematics learning outcomes treated with conventional learning. The results of mathematics learning students who have high critical thinking skills are better than the mathematics learning outcomes of students who have middle critical thinking skills is better than the low critical thinking skills. In the model of problem-solving and conventional learning, students' mathematics learning outcomes that have high critical thinking skills, medium and low are equally good. In categories of high, moderate, or low critical ability levels, student learning outcomes are equally good.

The aims of this study are to determine the improvement of critical thinking skills mathematical and metacognition of students who are taught with problem solving approach and the correlation between mathematical critical thinking and metacognition of students. This research is an experimental research with pretest-posttest control group design. The sample this research is the students of class VIII_2 and VIII_3 in SMP Negeri 1 Banda Aceh. Collecting data technique are test and nontest. Data were analyzed using t-test and correlation test. The result of the research shows 1) the critical thinking ability of the students who get the learning through problem solving approach is better than the students who get the conventional learning, 2) Metacognition of students who get the learning by using problem solving approach is better than the students who get the conventional learning, 3) a positive and significant relationship between students' metacognition and critical thinking skills.

Critical thinking skills of mathematics and mathematical logical thinking is very important in the study of mathematics, as described in 2013 curriculum books that are currently implemented. However, this ability is often overlooked in the study of mathematics which still adhered to the old paradigm that learning is less engaging students in active thinking so that students are not used to empower the cognitive function in thinking. One of the efforts to develop the students' active thinking on the matter exponent especially needed an innovative learning strategies that STAD learning model aided Maple. This study aims to determine the increase in critical thinking skills and logical mathematical learning mathematics students getting through the cooperative model STAD assisted Maple. This research uses experimental methods to study the design of the control group pretest-posttest design. Population is the entire class X SMK Flight Banda Aceh by taking two classes as a sample of the experimental class and control class, through random sampling technique of three parallel classes are available. Data collection was performed using a test instrument that includes tests of critical thinking and logical ability. To see the difference in ability between groups of students Student Team Achievement Division with a conventional group used the t-test at a significance level of 0.05 after testing pre-requisites are met. Based on the results, it is noted that: 1) Improvement of critical thinking skills of students who got the mathematical learning of mathematics through STAD cooperative model assisted Maple is better than the students who received conventional learning, in terms of: (a) overall, and (b) subgroup ( high, medium, low); 2) Improvement of mathematical logical thinking ability of students who receive mathematics learning through cooperative model STAD assisted Maple is better than the students who received conventional learning, in terms of: (a) overall, and (b) subgroups (high, medium, low).

This study aims to determine the effect of structured inquiry learning model with scientific approach on student’s critical thinking skills and physics learning outcomes of class X in SMAN 1 Gerung in academic year 2014/2015. The study uses a quasi experiment with design untreated control group design with pretest and posttest. The sample was selected by clauster random sampling and obtained class X-3 as the experiment class using structured inquiry learning model with scientific approach and class X-6 as the control class using expository learning model. Data post-test were tested for normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis test. Hypothesis test using t-test polled variance with 5% of significance level. The results of the study were obtained: (1) there was the effect of structured inquiry learning model with scientific approach on student’s critical thinking skills and (2) there was the effect of structured inquiry learning model with scientific approach on student’s physics learning outcomes  This indicates that the structured inquiry learning model with scientific approach is better than the expository learning model. Expected to do further research on structured inquiry learning model with scientific approach that measure the other of higher order thinking skills.

ABSTRACTThis research is aimed to know the differences increase critical thinking skills through learning group and individual problem solving in thermochemical material. This research uses a quasi-experimental design with nonequivalent control group design and study sample consisted of 103 students, divided into the first experimental (group problem solving) (35 students), the two group experimental (individual problem solving) (34 students). The collected through pretest-posttest. The analyzed with the Kruskal Wallis test, the results showed that the learning problem solving as a group or individually can improve students’ critical thinking skills. Statistical test there are significant differences in the students critical thinking skills thermochemical material between students who received group and individual problem solving. Critical thinking skills improvement with problem solving individual learning higher compared with group learning problem solving.Keywords: problem solving learning, critical thinking skillsABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa melalui pembelajaran group dan individual problem solving pada materi termokimia. Data uji statistik, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi termokimia antara siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran group problem solving dan individual problem solving. Mathematical Critical thinking is one of  mathematical abilities that must be obtained by students. Critical thinking is one of the high order thinking processes that can make concepts in student knowledge.  Students with critical thinking in mathematics learning mostly do rational activities such as interpreting information based on a particular theoretical framework, linking theory with practice, making claims and justifying it, utilizing data in support of argumentation, making relations or relationships between various ideas, asking questions, evaluating knowledge, predict, describe something, analyze, synthesize, and categorize. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Concept-Based Learning Model on the critical thingking mathematical abilities.The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of Concept-Based Learning Model toward mathematics critical thinking ability. The method used in this research is quasi experiment by Randomize Control Group Post Test Only Design with cluster random sampling technique. Indicators of mathematics critical thinking skills measured in this study include providing simple explanations, building basic skills, concluding, making more explanations, and deciding an action. The results showed that the mathematics critical thinking ability of students in the experimental class for the five indicators that being analyze was higher than the ability of students in the control class. A fairly high difference in the indicator showed in give a simple explanation and concluding. and it means that the application of Concept-Based Learning Model significantly influences the  abilities  of students' mathematics critical thinking.

The essence of mathematics learning is the ability to solve math problems. Differences in ability, one of which is the suspect cognitive style. Based on the cause of the necessary mathematical problems of the students, cognitive style consists of a type of reflection and impulsive. So that the focus of this research is to analyze students' critical thinking skills in solving mathematical problems based on different types of reflective and impulsive cognitive style. Causal-comparative studies are needed to analyze the problem. The population of this study is composed of students of class VII SMPN 1 Susukan Cirebon. While the sample search uses the intentional sampling technique with the number of research samples 31 students. The technique of data collection using the Cognitive Style TMF test (correspondence familiar figures Test) and description Test (essay) Mathematics of critical thinking. The hypothesis test used is the t-test (T-test for independent samples). The results of the research show that the distribution of cognitive styles of students at SMPN 1 Susukan Cirebon, dominated by reflective-type cognitive style students (74% of students), while a small part of the students type of impulsive cognitive style (26% of students ). Critical thinking ability of reflective type students of cognitive style is better than the type of impulsive cognitive style students

This study aims to improve critical thinking skills and mathematics learning outcomes of fourth-grade students of SD Tingkir Tengah 02 Salatiga in the second semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. Critical thinking and learning outcomes are low because the teacher uses the lecture method. The author chooses the Open-Ended model assisted by powerpoint media as a solution. Research procedures include planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results showed an increase from the initial condition with 9 students or 25.71% completed and 29 students or 74.29% not complete. The implementation of the first cycle results obtained 29 students or 82.86% completed and 6 students or 17.14% did not complete. Cycle II as a follow-up and improvement of the first cycle with the acquisition of achieving attainment of 35 students or 100%. The results obtained by the conclusion of the application of Open-Ended learning assisted by powerpoint media can improve critical thinking skills and mathematics learning outcomes of fourth-grade students of SD Tingkir Tengah 02 Salatiga second semester of the 2018/2019 academic year.

This study aims to describe the differences in critical thinking skills and chemistry learning achievement between learners who follow the model of problem-based learning (PBL) in cooperative learning settings TGT and GI at the rate of material reaction. The research is a quasi-experimental research design with pretest-posttest non equivalent control group designe with sample XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 2 are determined by random selection technique based on similarity mean value of daily tests I. Experiential learning and learner response is estimated to affect more significant learning achievement in the classroom PBM setting GI as evidenced by the average N-Gain learning outcomes in the classroom PBM setting GI of 0.43 and the average N-Gain learning achievement in the classroom PBM setting TGT of 0.32. The differences are also evidenced by the results of the hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.002 (p <0.05). While based on the calculation of the average critical thinking skills in mind that PBM setting TGT has a more significant effect than the PBM GI settings as evidenced by the difference in the value of critical thinking skills after learning process (posttest) and prior to the learning process (pretest) on PBM classroom setting TGT and PBM GI settings are respectively 19.93 and 14.42. While the test is based on differences in critical thinking skills, it is known that there are differences between classes of critical thinking skills PBM settings TGT and PBM settings GI as evidenced by the significant value of 0.018 (p <0.05).Keywords: PBM setting TGT, PBM setting GI, critical thinking skills, learning achievement of chemistry.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan apakah ada pengaruh yang signifikan peserta didik yang diajar dengan model inkuiri terbimbing terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis pada mata pelajaran fisika dan mendeskripsikan berapa besar pengaruh model inkuiri terbimbing tehadap keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitan quasi experiment dengan desain nonequivalent control group desain. Hasil analisis deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata skor keterampilan berpikir kritis mengalami peningkatan di kelas eksperimen dan berdasarkan uji hipotesis dengan thitung > ttabel (7.10059 > 1.66827) dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara pembelajaran dengan model inkuiri terbimbing terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis pada mata pelajaran fisika. Besar effect size model inkuiri terbimbing terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis sebesar 3,208 dengan pengaruh 94,2%.Kata kunci: Inkuiri Terbimbing, Keterampilan Berpikir KritisThis study aims to describe whether there was a significant effect of students taught with guided inquiry models on critical thinking skills in physics subjects and how much effect the guided inquiry model has on students' critical thinking skills. The research was a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. The results of the descriptive analysis obtained an average score of critical thinking skills increased in the experimental class and based on the results of the hypothesis test with tcount > ttable (7.10059 > 1.66827),  it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of learning with guided inquiry models on critical thinking skills in the physics subjects. The effect size of the guided inquiry model on critical thinking skills is 3.2 with an effect of 94.2%. Keywords: Guided Inquiry, Critical Thinking Skills

This research aims to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning using puzzle media on students' critical thinking. The study population was all grade VII students at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandar Lampung totaling 192 people. The research sample was students from 2 classes, namely class VII D and VII F who were selected from the population by using purposive sampling technique. The research instrument used a pretest-posttest sheet. The design used is the nonequivalent control group design. The data analysis used t-test with a significance of 5%. The results showed a sig significance value. (2-tailed) 0.13 <0.05, which means that the n-Gain mean of critical thinking learning outcomes of students between the experimental class and the control class is significantly different. Thus, it is known that the problem-based learning model using puzzle media can affect the critical thinking skills of students.
