This research and development (R&D) aimedat 1) developing reading material for the fifth gradestudents of elementary schools in tourism area, and (2)investigating the quality of the material developed. Togather the data, this study used scoring rubric,questionnaires, observation sheets, interview guide,and test. This study used the development modelproposed by Sugiyono (2011) and was developed basedon the characteristics of good reading materialproposed by Tomlinson (1998). The results showed that(1) reading material was developed by involving someof local contents and (2) reading material had highvalidity and practicality and was proven to be effective.It then can be concluded that to make good quality of areading material, the development of it should involvelocal content and should be based on the criteria ofgood material.Keywords: Reading Material, Tourism Area, LocalCulture

This study aimed at developing good reading comprehension materials for reading 1st course in second semester of Social and Politic Science Faculty at Mahen- dradatta University. It was developed by using the Research and Development proposed by Sugiyono (2010). The content of the product was based on Competency Standard and Basic Competency mentioned in the syllabus. The reading materials which have been provided for the second grade of reading 1st course in second grade of Social and Poli- tic Science Faculty at Mahendradatta University based on the criteria of a good reading material, involved the reading comprehension materials for reading 1st course that are relevant to convey the topic of (1) Grief and Escape, (2) Speech Production, (3) Career Women, (4) Visiting Bali, (5) “Ada Apa dengan Cinta?”, and (6) How to make Ice Cream. The reading comprehension materials, which should be developed, involved the skill of(1) understanding text organization, (2) inferring, (3) evaluating the text, (4) predicting,(5) understanding the writer’s style, and (6) dealing with unfamiliar words. The reading materials were corrected by the expert judges and field tested. The product, which was in the form of reading materials, was tried out twice. Firstly, it was tried out to the twenty students of the second semester and one lecturer Mahendradatta University. The result of the analysis showed that there were some invalid items. Then, the product was revised. Secondly, it was tried out in the second semester and two lecturers Mahendradatta Uni- versity. The results of the analysis showed that all of the items were valid. The product did not need to be revised again. Therefore, it could be used for reading 1st course in second semester of Social and Politic Science Faculty at Mahendradatta University.

English teaching reading material book currently does not have local content or are still national content and are not very interesting enough. The purpose of this study was to develop a book about the Potential of Tourism History in the Paku Urban Village of Kayuagung City This study used to research and development methods. The results of the English teaching reading material book based on history and local culture overall obtaining an average value of 4.04 with the category was "very good" and the level of feasibility of 80.7% and declared was feasible for use.

Abstract: A Model for the Supervision in the Learning of Physical Education in Elementary School. This study aimed to optimize the functions of principals and supervisors in the improvement of physical education teachers’ performance. It was a research and development study in which the preliminary steps employed the qualitative approach to obtain information on the existing models at present and attempts to develop one. The result of this study showed that the model for the supervision in the learning of physical education significantly affected the performance of physical education teachers in elementary schools. In other words, the model was effective to improve the quality of teachers’ performance and students’ achievement. Keywords: supervision model, performance, physical education

This was a Research and Development study which intended to develop flashcards and manual book as teaching media for teaching English vocabulary for young learner in Singaraja. The subjects of this study were five English teachers in Singaraja. They were SDN 1 Baktiseraga, SDN 1 Banjar Bali, SDN 2 Banyuasri, SDN 2 Pemaron, and SDN 3 Kampung Baru. This study used design model proposed by Hannafin and Peck (1988). The instruments used in this study were interview guide, questionnaires for teachers and students, and the evaluation sheet. The data gathered was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The result showed that teachers actually did not have any representative flashcards. The flashcards developed in this study covered 11 topics of noun and they were provided by manual book to support the implementation of the develop flashcards. The quality of the flashcards and the manual book got score almost 5 (highest score) from experts, which categorized to the excellent category. From the aforementioned result, it can be concluded that the teachers did not have any representative flashcards, therefore the development of flashcards which contained 11 topics of noun was conducted, and was supported by manual book in which their qualities were excellent.

This study aims to develop a valid and practical interactive instructional media to teach the GCD in elementary schools. This study is the Research and Development, and the reseachers applied the Plomp model consisting of three phases: preliminary research phase, development phase, dan assessment phase.The developed instructional media was validated by 3 experts consisting of media experts and material experts. To test the practicality, the researchers distributed questionnaires to the teacher and students. The data in this study were collected through interviews, observations, and questionnaires. The collected data were then analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The developed instructional media was very valid with an average score of 83.96% and was very practical category with an average score of 87.86% from the students and 96.7% from the teachers. Therefore, the interactive instructional media to teach the GCD can be used by elementary students and teachers.

This research aimed to (1) develop character based big book as a media for teaching English at sixth grade students at SD Lab UNDIKSHA Singaraja, and (2) find out the quality of character based big book developed. The subject of this research was thirty-two students of sixth grade students of elementary school at SD Lab UNDIKSHA Singaraja. The data of this research were obtained by using observation sheet, interview guide, item of questionnaire, checklist, rubric, and notes. This research was R & D (research and development) which followed several procedures based on Sugiyono model namely identifying potency and problem, collecting data, designing product, validating design product, revising design product, trying-out product, and revising product. The result of this research showed that there were five kinds of character based big book developed with the theme seasons, tourism, direction, airport, and transportation. Each big book consisted of fourteen up to fifteen pages and inserted character education in its story. For the quality of the media, it was found that the character based big book developed was categorized as excellent media. Thus, it was proper to be used as a media for teaching English at sixth grade students.

This research aimed at (1) developingflashcards and its manual book for teaching English in grade sixin Buleleng regency, and (2) finding out the quality of developed flashcards and its manual book. The subject of this research werethree English teachers and eighty students in grade six fromthree schools, that is,the students at SDN 4 Banyuasri, SDN 3 Jagaraga and SDN 9 Banjar. This research was R & D (research and development) which followed threesteps based on ADDIE model, namely Analyze, Design and Development. Since only three steps were undergone in this research, the developed media were still in the form of prototype. The data of this research were obtained by syllabus analysis, using observation sheet, students’ questionnaire, teachers’ questionnaire, teachers’ interview guide, and expert judgement rubric. The result of the present research are flashcards and its manual book. The flashcards and its manual book were developed based on four topics mentioned in the syllabus, namely fruits, vegetables, foods and beverages. Each topic developed consisted of 10 flashcards. Moreover, for the manual book developed, there were five activities provided. For the quality of the media, it was found that flashcards and its manual book developed were categorized as excellent media. Thus, it is proper to be used as media for teaching English vocabulary in grade six. Keywords: flashcards, manual book, teaching English for young learners

This research aimed to: (1) develop nonfiction texts of writing learning textbook based on process approach for the eleventh grade of senior high school; (2) find out the quality of nonfiction texts of writing learning textbook based on process approach that has been developed; and (3) find out the effectiveness of nonfiction texts writing learning textbook based on process approach for the eleventh grade of senior high school. This research is research and development that refers to research and development model of Borg & Gall. The development design included: (1) information collecting; (2) product development; (3) product testing; and (4) product revisions. Before the tryout, the textbook were validated by material and graphic experts, and practitioners. The data were collected using an interview guide, questionnaires, observation sheets, and test. The interview data in the infomation collecting stage and observation data in the implementation of the product were analyzed using the qualitative descriptive technique. The questionnaires data were analyzed using five scale score conversion. The t-test with a significance level of 0.05 was used to find out the effectiveness of the textbook.  The research finding revealed that the textbook which had been developed considered good with the percentage of quality 83.34% based on the questionnaire results analysis by the material and graphic experts, practitioner’s opinion, and student’s responses to the developed textbook.  Thus, it can be concluded that the nonfiction texts writing learning textbook based on process approach for the eleventh grade of senior high school was effectively used in nonfiction texts writing instruction.

The purpose of this research is to solve the problems in elementary schools especially in the application of learning that still does not prioritize character education.This research methods is a type of research and development with reference to Borg and Gall model with only seven steps, including: (1) potential and problems, (2) data collection, (3) product design, (4) product validation, (5) revision products, (6) product trials, and (7) product revision. Data obtained through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Sources of data are Class IV students and Class IV teachers at Masehi Kudus Elementary School, Tanwirul Qulub School, and 2nd Panjunan School.The results of the effectiveness test show that “Curriculum Management Based on Strengthening Character Education for Improving the Quality of Learning in Elementary Schools is effectively used in learning in Class IV Elementary Schools Theme “Beautiful Togetherness” Sub Theme 1 “Diversity of My Nation’s Culture” with the average results of individual completeness in Masehi Elementary School reaches 91%, while in Tanwirul Qulub Elementary School and 2nd Panjunan Elementary School reached 82%. The classical completeness of the three elementary schools is also very high with an average classical completeness of almost 100%. The classical completeness in the three elementary schools in a row is at Masehi Kudus Elementary School reaching 100%, at Tanwirul Qulub Elementary School and 2nd Panjunan Elementary School are reaching 95%. Classical absorption is also relatively high with the acquisition in each elementary school as follows: at Masehi Kudus Elementary School by 91%, at Tanwirul Qulub Elementary School and 2nd Panjunan Elementary School by 82%.

Abstract: Self concept and self esteem are two psychological aspects that need to be attention in learning at school because a high of self concept and self esteem can influence students success in their learning. The objective of this research is to know about the differences about  self concept and self esteem among elementary students with full day school and half day school system. The method used in this observation is comparison by comparing self concept and self esteem of elementary students with full day and half day system. The population of this research is 3 fullday Islamic elementary schools and 6 halfday Islamic elementary schools. The sample of this research is SD Islam Al-Madina as fullday school and SD Muhammadiyah Purworejo as halfday school. The data is gotten by the scale, observation, interviews and documentation. The result shows that there are no significant differences between self concept (t=0,096 with df :47)  and self esteem (t=0,396 with df :47) among student who study in full day school and half day (regular) school system so it means that school system doesn’t influence the quality of self concept and self esteem.Keywords: self concept, self esteem, full day school, half day school.
