The upsurge in accessing and utilizing the internet and social networking sites for social activities predisposes adolescents and young adults globally to online harassment, Nigerian undergraduates inclusive. The impacts of online harassment have attracted many research interests, especially in the developed world and the dearth of inquiries among Nigerian undergraduates. This work inquired about the prevalence and forms of online harassment perpetrated by undergraduates in a Nigerian university. A descriptive research design was adopted, data were amassed utilizing a three-sectioned self-report form administered on a sample of 420 undergraduates. The selection of the sample was made following a multistage procedure. Percentage and univariate analysis techniques were used for data analysis. The result of the inquiry revealed widespread online harassment among the undergraduates of the university. All the forms of online harassment assessed were perpetrated; dog pilling topped the list (63.1%), followed by trolling (44.0%). The high rate of occurrence demands the urgent attention of the university authority, professionals across relevant fields should create awareness; the need to develop interventions and policies to deal with online harassment is obvious

Competitive market competition so the company must be smart in managing finance. In promoting the selling point, marketing is the most important step to be considered. Promotional routine activity is one of the marketing techniques to increase consumer appeal to marketed products. One of the important agendas of promotion is the selection of the most appropriate promotional media. The problem that often occurs in the process of selecting a promotional media is the subjectivity of decision-making. Marketing activities have a taxation fund that must be issued. Limited funds are one of the constraints of improving market strategy. So far, the selection of promotional media is performed by the company manually using standardized determination that already applies. It has many shortcomings, among others, regarding effectiveness and efficiency of time and limited funds. Markov Chain is very helpful to the company in analyzing the development of the company over a period. This method can predict the market share in the future so that company can optimize promotion cost at the certain time. Implementation of this algorithm produces a percentage of market share so that businesses can determine and choose which way is more appropriate to improve the company's market strategy. Assessment is done by looking at consumer criteria of a particular product. These criteria can determine consumer interest in a product so that it can be analyzed consumer behavior.

This article gives insight in a running dissertation at the University in Potsdam. Point of discussion is the spatial and temporal distribution of emergencies of German fire brigades that have not sufficiently been scientifically examined. The challenge is seen in Big Data: enormous amounts of data that exist now (or can be collected in the future) and whose variables are linked to one another. These analyses and visualizations can form a basis for strategic, operational and tactical planning, as well as prevention measures. The user-centered (geo-) visualization of fire brigade data accessible to the general public is a scientific contribution to the research topic 'geovisual analytics and geographical profiling'. It may supplement antiquated methods such as the so-called pinmaps as well as the areas of engagement that are freehand constructions in GIS. Considering police work, there are already numerous scientific projects, publications, and software solutions designed to meet the specific requirements of Crime Analysis and Crime Mapping. By adapting and extending these methods and techniques, civil security research can be tailored to the needs of fire departments. In this paper, a selection of appropriate visualization methods will be presented and discussed.

Purpose – This paper investigates the determinants of credit card use and misuse by student and young professionals. Critical to the research is the impact of materialism and knowledge on selection of the appropriate credit card. Design/methodology/approach – This study uses survey research and partial least squares to investigate credit card behaviors of students versus young professionals. Findings – In a comparative study of young professionals and students, it was found that consumer knowledge, as expected, leads to better consumer selection of credit cards. Materialism was also found to increase the motivation for more optimal consumer outcomes. For more experienced consumers, such as young professionals, it was found that despite them being more knowledgeable, they were more likely to select a credit card based on impulse. Originality/value – This paper examines how materialism may in fact encourage some consumers to make better decisions because they are more motivated to develop better knowledge. It also shows how better credit card selection may inhibit impulse purchasing.

We consider a single-server queue with exponential service time and two types of arrivals: positive and negative. Positive customers are regular ones who form a queue and a negative arrival has the effect of removing a positive customer in the system. In many applications, it might be more appropriate to assume the dependence between positive arrival and negative arrival. In order to reflect the dependence, we assume that the positive arrivals and negative arrivals are governed by a finite-state Markov chain with two absorbing states, say 0 and 0′. The epoch of absorption to the states 0 and 0′ corresponds to an arrival of positive and negative customers, respectively. The Markov chain is then instantly restarted in a transient state, where the selection of the new state is allowed to depend on the state from which absorption occurred. The Laplace–Stieltjes transforms (LSTs) of the sojourn time distribution of a customer, jointly with the probability that the customer completes his service without being removed, are derived under the combinations of service disciplines FCFS and LCFS and the removal strategies RCE and RCH. The service distribution of phase type is also considered.

AbstractThis thematic issue of Itinerario brings together a selection of papers presented at the international conference Beyond the Islamicate Chancery: Archives, Paperwork, and Textual Encounters across Eurasia, which was held at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna in early October 2018. The conference was the third instalment in a series of collaborations between the Institute of Iranian Studies at the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the University of Pittsburgh examining Islamicate cultures of documentation from different angles. Surviving precolonial and colonial chancery archives across Eurasia provide an unparalleled glimpse into the inner workings of connectivity across writing cultures and, especially, documentary practices. This particular meeting has attempted to situate what has traditionally been a highly technical discipline in a broader historical dialogue on the relationship between state power, the archive, and cultural encounters.
